Historically, as technology evolved, the banking industry always kept pace in integrating those new technologies in order to better serve their customers. But all of that changed during the financial crisis of 2008. During the crisis, banks were focused on dealing with new rules, regulatory requirements and fines imposed on them. Innovation became a distant priority. But in the same duration, some of the most game-changing technological innovations evolved. We were introduced to new platforms and products that changed the way we lived our lives, from the iPhone to Airbnb to Uber to Seamless. They quickly became integrated into our day-to-day experience. Consumers began to expect more from their financial institutions. A gap was created between 'what your banks offer you' and what you as a customer came to expect from a user experience and convenience perspective. That 'gap' is what the FinTech industry is focused on capturing right now. However, the gap was so large that even non-traditional banking players decided to join in and take advantage of it, primarily, technology firms. And the rest is history. It is a new world we are living in today. This new world needs new-age leadership that can bridge the gap and create advanced solutions. These kinds of leaders aren't built overnight. Great leaders develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, and experience combined with internal willpower and desire. All these qualities, and many more, can be attributed to the Vice President of Business Operations at DailyPay– Preeti Krishnan. Prior to joining DailyPay, Preeti Krishnan was working as an attorney. In an interview with Insights Success, Helen shared details about her journey of founding OBE. Below are the highlights of the interview: Helen, please give us a brief overview of your journey as the Founder of Open Banking Excellence. The story of Open Banking Excellence (OBE) began at a networking event sponsored by Fintech Scotland. Men in kilts were serving warm wine to 38 fintech pioneers, and I found myself talking to people whose ideas and passion really excited me. It became clear to me that Open Banking was the future. I was asked to gather everyone together to share more stories and learnings - which I did. Now we are a global community of more than 15,000 people. The role of OBE is to bring together banks, fintech, regulators, and other industry stakeholders to learn, share stories, debate, and - above all – collaborate. We started in the UK but are now going global and have recently expanded into Brazil.

In September 2021, we introduced the world to our Brazilian familia at a campfire featuring a panel of experts made up of representatives from OBIE, Accenture, Banco Central Do Brasil, the Department of International Trade and others. I am really proud of the success of OBE in Brazil, particularly because until we started working there, I had never set foot in the country. It is a truly wonderful place with a very exciting ecosystem. The UK was a launchpad for Open Banking and it is inspiring to see other countries building their own blueprints and driving the sector forward. Tell us more about your company its vision, and the key aspects of its stronghold in the Open Finance and Open Banking space. At OBE, we believe that working collaboratively gives us a much stronger voice. We exist to enable collaboration and the exchange of ideas. We are also behind some of the biggest global stories in fintech. We are at the heart of the world's Open Banking community and enjoy a strong relationship with the journalists covering the latest trends and developments. As an authoritative voice within our community, each month, OBE engages with key industry leaders within our global community at our Campfires. This allows pioneers to share lessons they learned whilst navigating roadblocks fuelling innovation, grapple with new ideas and collaborate on solving industry challenges. We recently published our first Megatrends report for Open Banking and Open Finance, which featured contributions

from more than 30 industry pioneers. This report is a unique snapshot of the industry's trajectory, providing a briefing on the state of play and setting out predictions on what will happen over the next game-changing year. We have always believed that financial exclusion is a fundamental challenge that needs to be tackled by the wider fintech sector if it wants to evolve further in the next decade and be seen as a key enabler for lower-income people. After all, as we heard at a Campfire in 2021, open data includes us all. OBE is also committed to sustainability. This means we work to offset our own carbon footprint by working with Lune. But we also allow the Open Banking community to discuss best practices and share ideas on how to build a greener industry. At a Campfire last year, we discussed successes in ESG and explored green initiatives in Open Banking and Finance. How do you envision further strengthening Open Banking Excellence's stronghold in 2022 and beyond? OBE is behind some of the biggest global stories in fintech. We are at the heart of the world's Open Banking community and enjoy a strong relationship with the journalists covering the latest trends and developments. There are now over five million active Open Banking users in the UK alone, and our sector's global footprint is rapidly growing. In April, we will launch The OBE Constellation, a valuable resource for our friends in the media as they navigate the sector. OBE is also creating the Global Open Finance Index, an industry benchmark, through collaboration with partners including Accenture, the Department of International Trade (DIT), and the World Bank. This index will act as a beacon for anyone who has an interest in Open Finance and will be updated annually, setting up authentic benchmark referred to by regulators, industry bodies, governments, fintechs, financial institutions, academia, VCs, and more. We will continue to build our presence in the Brazilian Familia and are launching in another geographical area soon.

What inspired you to establish Qwaiting as one of the global leaders in Queue management and business solutions space? I am Rohit Garg, the Co-founder of Qwaiting. I am 33 years old and live in Singapore right now. As the founder, I am responsible for managing operations, finances, and collaborative contributions to strategy/priorities, product and company strategy, and development projects. If we talk about Qwaiting, it is a suitable solution that assists firms in enhancing productivity and decreasing the workload of managing clients. Qwaiting is a cloud-based queue management system specially designed to reduce customer wait time while increasing staff productivity. The idea for Qwaiting came to me when my friend and I went out to dinner and had to stand and wait for a long time before getting seated. We adopted the Qwaiting queue management system in place. After all, maintaining social distancing measures was and is the only key to ensuring safety while keeping the business running. The flexibility of work from home was given for the tasks that could be executed online. On the other hand, low-priority tasks were kept on hold. To keep up with the customer experience, we allowed customers to book their places in queue remotely and alert them via message when it was their turn. All this kept the congestion low and both the customer and employees safe from the virus. What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the business solutions and customer experience industry? One piece of advice I would provide to anyone thinking about launching a project is to approach it analytically and with the correct marketing abilities. The ability to recognize when brilliant ideas fail is the most important skill a business person can possess.
