very business management grows with the strong strategic backbone with themselves. Implementing strategic plans demands for the progress of the right organizational structures, systems, and cultures. As well as the distribution of sufficient resources in the right places. Appropriate execution of designated courses of action is a fundamental step in the strategic management process. It is very requisite to embroil, from the very beginning of the process, individuals and groups which will succor to carry out the strategic plan.
Strategic Creativity leads to Immortal Management
The Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation specialization focuses on creativity and innovation in strategy formulation and the importance of formulation being complemented by a strong capability in strategy execution. Business managers must have a strong knowledge of both strategy and entrepreneurship in order to classify, build, and cultivate opportunities for their companies. A strategy is an approach of thinking, conscious and deliberate process, an intensive implementing system, the science of insuring future achievement. Every organization’s understanding of strategic management is unique, reflecting the organization’s dissimilar culture, structure, management style, environment, resources and other organizational features. However, experience in functioning with managers and leaders in a variety of organizations stipulates that similar questions and concerns advance as organization implement strategic management. Leaders are also focusing on these questions and concerns which have been developed on a common basis of experience that is valuable for those who are just beginning a strategic management process. It summarizes some of the things they have learned while working with a variety of organizations. This is in contrast of strategic planning with strategic management. The business performance evaluation is also the most important aspect. It preserves the planning and implementation segments of the management system on target by serving the organization to adjust strategies, timing, and resources, as circumstances warrant. By basing strategic resolutions on marginal futures, and by testing planned engagements against the different circumstances, these strategic scenarios depicts that organizations are well prepared for future uncertainty and are enduring their decisions as spirited and malleable cadre dealing with contingencies. “The Strategy objects to train the leader to become effective decision makers who are able to anticipate and effect change in their organization, as well as progress goal-oriented plans for the future.”

GEP: A One Stop Destination for all things ‘Procurement’
A
s a global leader and one-of-a-kind specialist in procurement solutions and software, GEP helps enterprise procurement and supply chain teams achieve their strategic, operational and financial objectives. Established in 1999 with just the four co-founders as employees, GEP today manages $74 billion in spend for over 200 Fortune 500 and Global 2000 clients worldwide, with a rapidly growing workforce of over 2500 employees.
A Winning Business Model The reason behind GEP’s astounding success is fairly easy to understand when you look at its well-thought and executed business model. GEP has the most comprehensive portfolio of procurement and supply chain solutions in the industry. In fact, GEP is the only procurement solutions provider in the world with a business model built around the vision of providing a unified, integrated solutions portfolio — strategy, integrated with execution (managed services) and enabled by technology — to enterprise procurement teams. This vision and approach is fundamental to its go-to-market strategy, and is reflected in its three lines of business – consulting, outsourcing and technology. Taken on its own, this combination of solutions is unique. But in addition, unlike other global service providers in its competitive set (which are typically multi-tower providers), GEP is entirely focused on the sourcing, procurement and related supply chain layers within the enterprise — a true best-of-breed. At the same time, GEP is one of the industry’s leading software providers, an innovator with a complete source-to-

Indeed, the depth, breadth and strength of GEP’s sourcing, procurement and supply chain expertise — encompassing vertical industries; commodities and categories; regions and localities, business and work processes — makes it a valuable and preferred business partner for procurement and supply chain leaders. It’s no wonder then that GEP is consistently ranked among the top global procurement and supply chain solutions firms, by leading industry analysts and research firms, including Gartner, Kennedy, Everest Group, NelsonHall and Forrester, among others. Client-Centric Approach GEP services and products are deployed discreetly as point solutions, or in various integrated combinations, or as a complete end-to-end solution. “Clients leverage what they need, when and how they need it – and given our breadth, depth and on-going investments in innovation, GEP enables its clients to evolve solutions as their requirements shift or change,” says Makhija. The World in 2017: A Wake-up Call for the Global Elite
M
ost commentaries on Trump election and Brexit verdict continue to focus primarily on the severity of the economic and political impact on virtually every region of the world. Analysts look upon the outcome largely as a geo-political blow to rational international dialogue and as an economic shock with unpredictable results. There has been an almost unanimous disbelief that the unthinkable has happened. As to why it happened, the consensus prognosis is that the people who voted for Trump and for Brexit were either misinformed, or under-informed or ignorant.
It is not often acknowledged that these outcomes are possibly another confirmation that for far too long, we have been living in a world that has been ruled by “governments of the elite, by the elite and for the elite”, even in the so-called democracies. The escalating government debts and the persistently high unemployment levels all over the world, have led to continuing poverty and unrelenting inequality. The shocking indifference of the governments in power to these perpetual tragedies has caused a deep level of dissatisfaction with the governments in most nations. Brexit and the Trump election in USA are some of the stark manifestations of these frustrations. It would be interesting to see if the constitutional referendum in Italy and elections in Austria in December would also follow similar path. These will be followed by equally significant elections in the Netherlands in March, France in May, and Germany in September. These events are strong pointers that many countries in the West are likely to follow populist policies, such as limiting globalization, reducing outsourcing, and restricting immigration, all leading to increased protectionism. It is debatable whether these policies will actually help the forgotten masses in those countries. But that is another debate. We in India are presently concerned with whether we are well placed to face these global challenges, by following our own, unique trajectories of growth. Sadly, the confidence that was tangibly perceptible about the near-term future of India till recently, has been somewhat clouded by the likely impact of demonetization. Overnight, the focus on growth has been transformed, to focus on recovery at macro-level, and survival at micro-level.

CXO Standpoint About the Author: Ravi Chaudhry is the Chairman of CeNext Consulting Group, Strategy Consultant to government and global corporations, mentor to CEOs and Corporate Boards on Governance, Innovation and ‘Re-inventing Strategy to Cope with Future’. His book, Quest for Exceptional Leadership: Mirage to Reality - 2nd Edition has been globally acclaimed as “the best book on leadership in years and a rare combination of sound business thinking and accessible philosophy.” A Fellow of World Business Academy, USA, and recipient of Ambassador of Knowledge Award, he is often referred to as a leadership guru. Earlier, he was the Chairman/CEO of four companies in Tata Group, India.
Many observers feel that India has succeeded in scoring a self-goal, because the recovery from demonetization could be a long, arduous process. It is an unknown terrain, and it is still being assessed as to how long this process would take. Every day brings more reports of the misery and plight of the vast majority of Indian citizens who have become unconscious victims of a ploy to cleanse the country from rampant corruption. This could well be a situation where the collateral damage of a well-intentioned move could many times outweigh even the best gains from the main objective. Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen believes that demonetization undermines the entire economy of trust. The government promises in the promissory note that whenever the bearer wants, government will ensure that the bearer receives the amount mentioned, and to break such a promise does not bode well for the trust in government. The onus is entirely and squarely with the central government to ensure that this ‘trust’ is restored. Adequate corrective measures need to be taken to make sure that the implementation of this policy does not lead to mass frustrations and disgruntlements. Since this is an irreversible decision, every citizen of India has a phenomenal stake in the success of this move. It would be prudent for the ruling elite to accept, howsoever grudgingly, that we are now passing through an era where the poor in India would no longer accept poverty and joblessness as destiny. They are already witnessing a colossal new phenomenon of daylight corruption in converting old money to new money. It is happening round the clock, and yet those engaged in the process, as always,
are going unpunished. If they find in the coming months that nothing has changed and everything continues as before, they will be angry, really angry. The travails they suffered will have been in vain. The sacrifices they are making in coping with the unwarranted problems thrust upon them is a clarion call to wake up the ruling elites from their political complacency and remind them unambiguously that while their prosperity has not been impacted much, their less-fortunate co-citizens could perhaps face harsher times in the next few months. Unless of course, the government gets its act together, to revive the index of trust all over again, with transparent transparency. A vast majority of the people in India today are increasingly discovering a common bond that transcends boundaries and affiliations of all kinds. This thread of bonding will encompass all sections of societies, except the elite. They will be united by shared gloom and despair. Every crisis is an opportunity. The good news is that the present situation offers a new window of opportunity where responsible, conscientious leadership can radically transform the nation and relieve it of some of the perennial problems. The political leaders in all parties need to accept the new ground realities. The need of the moment is to realign our priorities with those of the forgotten masses of India. A simple way would be to start measuring our progress by the GDP growth of the bottom 80% of the population. Changing course is admittedly difficult, but there is no alternative. If we do not, we may be overwhelmed by even more serious, uncontrollable transformational forces, quite akin to what is happening elsewhere in the world.

Management Concern
Encouraging the
Organisational Behaviour to Escalate Your Business needs to plan for change by minimising risk and maximizing return. The company should conduct research to analyse barriers for making affirmative changes in the workplace, so they can eliminate potential obstacles which would hamper on the business.
T
he word “Behaviour” itself defines all its meaning. Mainly our all positive and negative points can be easily seen while we are working with people in the organisation. The management expects the productive and favorable performance from their worker so that continuous growth of the business will always on.
Organisational behaviour is the study of how people act in groups, particularly at work. For Understanding organisational behavior, it is an integral process to succeed in business. It will be any type of behavior resulting from the structure and culture of the organisation. Managers can influence organisational behaviour and foster positive change. For example, education programs that teches employees how to solve problems within the organisation is one way to improve their performance through organisational behavior modification. Below, some points that will help increasing the performance of the business. Advance planning Planning is the focal part of any startup, no amiable change ever come without any advance planning. The organisation
30 | December 2016
Ethics in company for good result A company that creates and uses a well built ethical policy will notice that the ethic affects organisational behaviour in the workplace. The management team is asked to encourage the company’s ethical code when it comes to interacting with employees, treating customers and doing business with vendors. High turnover in an organisation can shows ethics in jeopardy because incoming employees are not familiar with the company culture and will need time to get up to speed. A company needs to consider all factors that can affect adversely on organisational ethics and work to maintain the way of doing business at all times. Evaluation of work Most of the companies and organisation use an evaluation system to recognise that workers are meeting permissible job standards. However, having a yearly evaluation does foster existing positive change. But having a positive feedback system in place will result in greater motivation and change. Employees who are trained to focus on the positive things on their own behaviour will think and focus on useful change, rather than what wrong they are doing. Behaviour of teamwork The team structure creates a much freer workplace. This
organic structure adapts as needed by using efficient employee teams that take charge of company goals and projects. In some workplaces the collective knowledge is very important. Workers should be united by a common identity and reason must be reminded of this shared identity on a regular basis. Engaging employees in positive talk will also help company performance and profit. Creative industries use the teamwork for the good effect on work. Division of Work When a company has separate client categories, locations or product lines. It makes sense to split employees into groups dedicated to a single concern. Doing this naturally decentralizes power, as each division has power over its particular concern. Each division operates as a small business unit, and manager reacts by learning to behave like leaders. Managerial Control Managerial control is very crucial part of organisation behaviour. There are several of managerial control-from autocratic control, in which the management group analyse to the staff, and interactive control, in which the workforce has a say in how the company is run. The type of managerial control you choose for your organisation will affect how you sustain the policy. If you don’t allow interaction from the staff, then you could be blinding yourself to important input that permit your company to run more smoothly. Accountability of Work A strong organisational formation will guide to maintain the organisational behaviour of accountability. When the company knows which staff members are responsible for various company functions and project, those employees can be made accountable fro their growth. If there is no accountability for success or failure within an organisation,
there is no a single way to purse productivity or punish those who take away from the company’s bottom line. Improving a corporate culture where every employee is considerable for employee actions can have accountable for their actions will positively effect on staff behavior. Feedback Most companies and organisations use an evaluation system to ensure that workers and clients are meeting necessary job standards. Instead, having a positive feedback system in place will result in greater motivation and change. Employees who are trained will focus on the positive aspects of their own behaviour will think and focus on positive change, rather than what they are doing wrong. However, the same feedback system for clients will help to evaluate the service which is provided by the company and this will directly improve the business performance. These techniques will definitely upgrade the company growth and escalate the performance of business in a positive manner. Both the divisional and functional structures will be segregated in such manner that the threat points of organisation eliminated easily. “A Good Organisation always need a best Management and this leads to trends your Bussiness”.

personal AI health workers we have daily conversations with. Over time, technology will replace over a million jobs in the developed world - with labour intensive, repetitive, and semi-skilled jobs disappearing first. Manufacturing will move out of factories and closer to consumers, and many of the jobs outsourced from the West, which fuelled the rise of India’s middle class such as software and BPO jobs will disappear. Soon enough, automation technology will trickle down to India as well, replacing unskilled and semi-skilled workers across manufacturing, infrastructure, retail, hospitality, and several other industries.” In the aspect of things to come, one needs to gaze out for innovations and solutions that makes life more probable and ideas that will be at our doorstep. As an organisation, Intellecap are trying to throw their weight behind technology as that is the only way to break inequities.

o you know what’s common with Management Trends? - They come and go. Only the best ones will remain. To ride the new wave of management trends in 2017, here is a recipe - OTF Objective, Team, & Funding. On a lazy Sunday, I had decided to take a complete holiday when my phone rang. “Sachin, we thank you once again for busting the Business Plan myths. But now we are stuck and would like to meet you again and discuss our dilemmas about Business Plan.” Sid was unstoppable in his fast talk. I said “Sid, Can we talk about this tomorrow?” Sid was persistent, “Sachin, we have to meet to meet today itself!” I said “Sid, I am taking a long awaited break from work today, can we meet tomorrow instead?” Sid announced “It’s urgent!” I said, “I can understand your situation and I hope you will understand mine too.” Surprisingly though, Sid agreed. I was trying to recollect something I wanted to ask Sid. I said, “Sid, you said ‘we’ want to thank you. What exactly you mean by ‘we’? Sid said “We have formed a Business Planning Practitioners Group.” I asked ‘Who all is there in the Group?” Sid replied with a smile “All of us who met when you busted the Business Planning myths.” I smiled and was eager for Monday discussion.
Ride on any Management Trend with this recipe in 2017
Sid seems to have decided to take lead for this discussion and we didn’t mind it at all. Sid asked the question in supersonic speed “How can we give direction to a Business Plan? I know there are hundred different things to work on but we I don’t think going after all those things will be a right solution. What do you think? Objective, Team, & Funding The Business Planning Practitioners Group met and gave first round of orders at the Café. Sam ordered Gourmet Hot Cocoa, Tina ordered Red Velvet Latte, Jenny ordered Cranberry Latte, Julia ordered Cranberry Hot Cocoa, Sid ordered Inverted Cappuccino, and I ordered Strawberry Pom Smoothie. The storm of questions continued - Why we need objective for a Business Plan? Objective will be same for everybody, either growth/profitability/cost reduction/etc. why waste time? Shall we have one or multiple objectives? I said; let’s design Business Plan objectives for each one of you. CXO Standpoint the customers quickly.” I said “Sam, your three objectives are: · Getting customers quickly · Developing team work · Raising funds Sam said “But these objectives sound vague”. I said “Yes, now you will have to add specific details to your objectives like how many customers you want, what kind of team you want to develop, how much funds you will need and how you will utilize those?” I said, “Sam, now you will need a team to achieve these objectives. In fact, one of your objectives itself is ‘developing teamwork.’ Sam asked, “How can I go about developing a team?” I explained, “You will have to go after identifying team with these skills · Sales · Human Resource · Cofounder Sales skill is important since getting customers quickly is one of the objectives. A human Resource skill is required for developing team work. Cofounder skill is required for raising funds.” Sam asked, “Now my pressing need is funding. Since I will be developing a product, it will need lots of funds initially. What should I do?” I replied, “You will need to do following things to get funding: · Proving you are on the right path · Contacting right set of fund providers · Estimating fund requirement precisely When you are approaching investors while in the process of development, they may avoid you. When you become successful, you will avoid them. That is the rule of the game. When you need funds, they are difficult to get. When you are enough funded, more will approach you with funds. In development phase, it is important to communicate to the investor that you are on right path. Now you will have to identify and spell out how you are on right path. We are born with natural instinct for understanding ‘who’ will fund us. A child knows who will fund her new toy or a dress requirement - father/mother/aunt/uncle/etc. Similarly, you will understand that there are number of sources available for funding. It can be crowd, relatives, friends, well-wishers, Venture Capitalists, Banks, Government Schemes, etc. While looking for funds, remember not only to look for
funds but also look for network of the funds provider, knowledge about your industry, etc. Midsized Company Tina who is working with a midsized manufacturing company said “My Company wants growth. That’s the only objective we have.” I asked, “How will you understand that you have achieved growth?” Tina replied, “When we have scaled up to newer heights, using technology more effectively, and culture of continuous learning is developed.” I told Tina, “So your Objectives are: · Scaling up · Digitization · Developing learning culture” I continued, “You will have to define how much you want to scale up, what you want to digitize, and what exactly you want in terms of developing learning culture. You will have to develop a team with following attributes: · Experienced professionals · Information Technology (IT) experts · Learning and Development (L&D) experts By experience, I don’t want you to restrict your choice only to your industry experience. Since you are looking for scaling up, that’s the experience you should look for. Digitization is possible through Information Technology (IT). By IT experts, don’t just focus on only technological expertise, if you get someone who understand business and IT, it will be more desirable. What I mean by Learning and Development (L&D) experts is combination of multiple skills - Subject Matter Expertise, Learning Method expertise, and Learning Technology expertise. A Business Plan can fail for a lack of funding in wellfunded organization. Although your Company has gone through the take-off phase, for maintaining the speed, you need fuel of funding. You will have to do: · Fund estimation for growth · Fund estimate for digitization · Funds for hiring specialists While estimating fund requirement for growth make sure to identify the right levers for the growth. If you want to increase profitability, you may have to go for premium level customers, which in turn will call for premium quality, and which in turn will demand more funds. Digitization is generic phrase. Funding requirement for digitization will change based on what you want to digitize. December 2016 | 37
CXO Standpoint Number of midsized companies will find need to digitize it marketing process, supply chain, etc. For developing learning culture, you will have to hire specialists. This hiring will also require additional funds than normal.” Multi-National Company (MNC) Jenny said, “Since I am working in a top management of leading Multi-National Company, why should I care for Business Plan, it will be prepared by the Head Office team of our Company. They have created a mess with increased costs, complex reporting structure, and slow growth”. I said, “Since you are part of a top management team, it is your duty to participate in business planning process. You can have following objectives: · Improving cost structure · Solving System issues · Getting back to growth path Team required for execution of effective Business Plan calls for: · Efficiency experts · Systems experts · Turnaround experts For improving cost structure, you don’t need costing experts but you need efficiency experts. With improved efficiency, you can reduce cost of ownership, operations cost, etc. By System, I mean Management System and not IT System. Once you have a right Management System in place, you can solve issues such as complex reporting. Funding for a Company of this scale calls for: · Identifying investment for saving cost · People, process related fund requirement · Growth related funding requirement For improving efficiency, you will have to invest in quality equipment. For improving people, processes you will need funds. Growth related funding will call for more sales people, investments in new market development, etc. Government Julia, who is working with a Municipal Corporation said, “Citizens want solution to all of their problems. It is impossible to identify Objectives for our situation.” I asked, “What are the most pressing problems your City is facing?” Julia replied “traffic, garbage, and our inefficient systems.” I said, “Objectives for you by adding more specifics can be: · Solving traffic problem · Solving garbage problem
38 | December 2016
· Improving processes through technology To achieve these objectives, the team you have to gather will require these skills: · City planning experts · Garbage recycling experts · Technology experts City planning is a specialized skill, so does garbage recycling, and technology for process improvement. Solving traffic, garbage problem, and technology based process improvement needs funds. You will have to estimate the amount of funds required. For a Government also many options are available for funding. Sources available are internal and external. Each Government has a policy on the investment options that can be opted. Non-Government Organization (NGO) Sid, who is working with Non-Government Organization (NGO) working on eradication of diseases globally said, “For us, Objective is pretty simple, that is eradicate diseases globally.” I asked Sid, can you completely eradicate the diseases globally?” Sid replied “It’s impossible!” I said, “That’s why your objective may sound simple but it is impossible to achieve”. Sid asked with hesitation, “So what should we do?” I replied, “What you want to improve in next one year?” Sid replied, “Our efforts are haphazard number of times, number of our globally dispersed teams work in isolation, and we are always running out of money.” I said, “In that case, your objectives can be: · Focus · Effective collaboration · Funding You just need to add specifics like what to focus on, how you will identify that the collaboration is effective, and how much and from where you will get funds. You need team with skills like: · Focus · Effective collaboration · Funding Skill of being ‘focused’ is easy to talk about but difficult to achieve. Collaboration is extension of team work. Skill of funding is inclination toward getting funds. For getting, keeping, and growing funds, you will need: · Analytics experts · Partnership experts · Selling experts With Analytics, you can get insights. Identifying right partner will improve chances of getting more funds. For getting funding you need a team with selling skills.”

Leadership is the common thread which runs through the entire process of translating strategy into results and is the key to engage the hearts and minds of your people. Strategy into execution - This planning is a phased approach charting a course through performance factors, linking strategic thrusts to a project, departments and individual activity. The ultimate aim is to enable organisations to effectively translate strategic intent all the way through to outcome in a clear and powerful process. The real need is to creatively and systematically unfold the strategy, bring it to life by generating integrated action plans across an organisation that ensure all functions and divisions are aligned behind it. The three distinct phases in Strategy, which are identified and demonstrated like Refine business strategy to achieve clarity of intent, Developing the strategic thrusts and broadbased action plans and Cascading out detailed work plans. By following this process the team directors, managers, and team members can map how to deliver your strategic plan. The organization and its people move to fire-fighting and reactive task scheduling, instead of planning proactively to deliver the new strategic plan. Performance measurement tools are helpful to give motivation and allow for follow up. Implementation often includes a strategic map, which identifies and maps the key in gredients that will direct the performance. Such ingredients include finances, market, work environment, operations, people and partners. The pace of business exhibits no signs of slowing down and the competition in any sector isn’t getting easier. But efficiently implementing strategy can be an origin of competitive advantage. There should be periodic reviews of strategies to spot out whether the given strategy is relevant. It is required because even the carefully produced strategies might cease to be suitable if events change, knowledge becomes fairer, or it appears that the environment will not be as actually thought. Thus, strategies should be reviewed from time to time. The good management system must enable effective processes and organisational capabilities to be put in place to create the transparency and accountability needed to manage performance on a sustained basis. “Strategy is thinking about a choice and choosing to stick with your thinking”
