pecialized healthcare or personal healthcare is gaining a market cap on a completely new level. People are more into personalized healthcare services nowadays. It is increasing the demand for ethical service providers in the space that show true dedication in their work. Acknowledging an individual’s health care needs is of utmost importance but, it is also difficult at the same time.

A Caring Personality Michael began working in a nursing home when he was just 15 years old. With a passion for senior care, he has developed many of the service models today under In Home Personal Services. Through it all the principle guiding factor of compassion, quality care has been a part of every fiber in the fabric of the healthcare franchise’s brand along with Michael’s approach. “We provide hands on care to promote independence to seniors in the comfort of their own home. Our services provide for the assistance, whatever that may be, to our seniors to ensure they are able to live the lifestyle of their choosing as an alternative to facility-based care,” he says. These services are essential to our seniors’ ability to progress in their day to day lives and are often the difference in making their lifestyle an independent one. Bringing peace of mind and comfort to the entire family knowing that Micahel’s team is there to ensure all the

“We believe that senior care is essential. Now, more than ever, we see that our caregivers are an unforgettable and essential part of our client’s safety, well-being, and daily lifestyle,” says Michael. The team of this esteemed franchise feels proud to have been the chosen provider by so many and is grateful for the opportunity to continue that mission today all across America.
clients’ needs are met becomes truly satisfying experience for them. In Michael’s opinion, healthcare as a whole is lacking everywhere. As a country, he feels that we are falling behind many other countries in the provision of healthcare to our most vulnerable citizens, while private organizations, healthcare professionals and even just the friendly neighbor impact lives daily in a positive way. He thinks that collectively we can do better. “We strive to be better and seek out new ways that innovate the delivery of care,” shares Michael.
‘
At In Home Personal Services we work to innovate and redefine ourselves because we never stop learning
‘
Opinions that Matter Expressing his take on the impact that COVID-19 had on the healthcare sector, Michael says, “So much is said about the world not being prepared. I say look at all those healthcare workers that were. They never gave up and this very moment, those in our own company and around the world are fighting. They were prepared, it is called a dedication to your patient. Simply put, humanity and compassion won over fear and anxiety. Leadership alone did not stem the tide of this pandemic or pulled back so many from the brink, or kept countless others safe, the frontline workers did. They led the way, not the ‘leadership’.” When asked about what the future of the senior citizen care solutions market could be, post the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael asserts, “It will grow, more so than previously expected. More importantly it will evolve. It has to. To ensure we never see so many fatalities or have so many loved ones cut off from their family ever again. At In Home Personal Services, we have already begun the task of developing a far more prepared approach for COVID-19 today, tomorrow and in preparation of the next pandemic.” Talking about why adapting novel technologies is important in any business, Michael states, “Without further advancing our own tools or challenging our own systems we fall behind those that do. At In Home Personal Services, we work to innovate and redefine ourselves because we never stop learning. If you or your business is unable or unwilling to evolve, you get left behind.”
Dynamics of the Care Space The Senior Care industry as a whole is highly sought after due to the security of the business model. During this pandemic, caregivers have turned out to be one of the most essential factors in healthcare services. Caregivers are called upon to provide their expertise and services to their best abilities in these difficult times, whereas other businesses were forced to shut their doors and cease operations. At In Home Personal Services, the franchise has a proven business model but it also has been in business for over 15 years. “It matters how we got here and what it is we do in times like this, that matters,” adds the team of this esteemed franchise. The franchise is growing at a rapid and exponential pace. The requests for franchises all over the United States has been simply overwhelming at the company’s onboarding offices. It is clear that this track as an industry and as a brand, In Home Personal Services will continue to grow at a fast and exciting pace. Advising young entrepreneurs who wish to enter the caregiving business, Michael says, “Do it because you care. Nothing secret or mysterious. Care about those you will be entrusted to provide care to and everything else will happen for you as it should.” We asked Michael how he envisions on sustaining and scaling In Home Personal Services’ offerings and expertise in the near future, to which he said, “Some will say this is a highly competitive industry. I disagree, or perhaps it is my approach that is different. We see it as you are either competent and compassionate or you are not. The approach here at In Home Personal Services is clearly different and we will continue to drive new thinking and innovation forward in everything we do. Given the current surge in prospective franchisees we currently have and are working through the disclosures on I think we will be far more ahead of our own projections over the next 5 years, and those were already rather aggressive to begin with.”

W
ith a vision to be the most people-centric, credible, and comprehensive home healthcare solution provider in India, HealthCare atHOME (HCAH) was incepted. HCAH is a leading home healthcare service provider in India backed by the Burman family (Dr. Anand Burman and Gaurav Burman),the promoters of Dabur, and the founders of HCAH UK (Dr. Gareth Jones & Charles Walsh). In April 2013, HCAH became operational and initially associated with leading hospital chains for post-surgical treatments at home such as medications, wound dressings & physiotherapy. Fortis Escorts Delhi was its first partner. The company is a leader in many medical facilities beyond the hospital, such as ICU atHOME, Cancer Care atHOME, etc. In 2014, HCAH acquired Health Impetus, a Mumbai based disease management firm in partnership with pharmaceutical companies. Since then, the business has expanded and is now the country's largest disease management firm. In 2016, HCAH also forayed into a JV with M3 Inc(a US$ 40 billion group). Clinical delivery & patient-centricity are the prime pillars that have always remained on top priority for HCAH. Therefore, in 2019, it became the first home healthcare company to be accredited by QAI under Indian homecare standards. In an interview with Insights Care, Vivek Srivastava, the CEO & Co-Founder of HCAH shares some

valuable insights on how the company is following the best practices in medical care and maintaining international protocols and standards. Below are the highlights of the interview: What services does your organization provide, and how are these services making an impact on your clients and customers? We can provide a complete spectrum of healthcare procedures at the patient’s home or in the community except for surgeries and emergency medical procedures. This is nearly fulfilling 70% of the healthcare needs of an average Indian Consumer in a cost-effective way and that too in the safest environment called “home”.
Some of the key services offered by HCAH include setting up ICUs at home, cancer care, Dialysis at home, step-down care, nursing, physiotherapy, attendant services, lab tests (including COVID related tests),equipment & Medicine delivery, teleconsults, and elderly care at homes across the country. We also support a large number of patients suffering from chronic diseases to manage their diseases and deliver superior outcomes. We touch >1lac patients monthly across on chronic diseases. their employees as they move towards post lockdown resumption of production. We have extended help to corporates with telehealth helplines dedicated to their employees in these challenging times. We have created oxygen bed capacity in RWAs and for corporates as well. Home healthcare impacts our clients and the business deeply. There are a lot of actions which have a positive impact on society: • We support screening 100,000+ patients a month which leads to early detections of diseases, thus saving a lot of money spent on complications arising out of diseases. • Our services are cheaper than the hospital (ICU is 60% cheaper and cancer care 20% cheaper) and we have been able to increase access to the services by delivering into the underserved locations across the country. We have delivered drugs with an average of 40% discount across the country. In this way, we have led to increasing the access and affordability of healthcare. Healthcare is one of the top 3 causes of people moving below the poverty line across the country • We have employed in 70+ cities across the country with 40%+ female employee participation Also, in these pandemic times here are a few instances that left a huge impact on the customers & society. We have managed 50,000+ COVID patients at home. What are your organization’s franchising USPs and what additional benefits/opportunities do you offer to your potential franchisors? Our Key USPs include: • Quality: We are a clinical management firm compared to other companies, and thus one of our key differentiators is clinical efficiency. • Customer Satisfaction: We are obsessedwith customer satisfaction and therefore have a ranking of about 65% and above NPS (Net Promotor Score)in most months. • Employee Centricity: People are our greatest asset and we invest heavily in training, skills management, and engagement. • Technology is Our Backbone: We have been a paperless organization since day one.
electronic), competence, and auditing process (site, telephone, and Video-based) • Patient facing app available for self-management. We monitor them by remotely the back end including e-ICU for critical patients. • Reach: We deliver services in 70 cities across the country and deliver pharma products to 600+ locations across the country Where do you envision your organization to be in the long run and what are your future goals? Since the beginning of COVID-19,the home healthcare organizations have faced uncertain census shifts, increasing cost of supplies, erratic staffing, and a whole host of other challenges. While the storm has not all weathered the workers, a majority of them have. Now as the home healthcare landscape is getting more stabilized it will come out better &stronger than ever. Today people choose convenience and safety more than anything else. Therefore healthcare delivery at home is safer, convenient, and cheaper as well. We believe that with the push from COVID coming in all the sectors will get benefited and with our clinical credibility, we would get a disproportionate share of this benefit. As an industry expert, what would be your advice to aspiring healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs? Healthcare is a sector which you should think of investing for the long run. It is largely recession proof and would continue to grow as our country grows and per capital incomes increase. However, I'd suggest you do not rush into the sector because you think you have a new technologyalone. You need to think of a business model behind it. Healthcare has care as part of it. It involves people's lives. An error is therefore more expensive than food/commodity supplies or e-commerce. Having said that, I think that in the healthcare space enough and more opportunities are waiting to be disrupted. If the right technology is combined with the right clinical competency and if the patients can be acquired cheaply, magic will get created. We are more than happy to work with upcoming startups or existing players to create value for our customers

massive shift has been witnessed in the generation, consumption, storage, and sharing of healthcare data. From conventional storage to digitalization of healthcare data, the industry has come a long way in optimizing its management practices. The widespread option of moving over to cloud computing in healthcare goes far beyond storing data.
CARE Sector www.insightssuccess.com
Moving over to cloud has proven to be beneficial to patients as well as healthcare providers. Cloud technology has helped hospitals, clinics, etc. reduce operational costs while allowing providers to deliver high quality personalized care. The healthcare sector has evolved with the help of cloud technology. Here are some ways cloud has helped the healthcare industry:
January 2021 | 21
Communication through the Cloud With a cloud-based phone system, doctors can stay connected. There are many reasons why this type of communication is vital today. When the doctors are connected to each other, the communication is reinstated and they could treat the patients better. Even the hospitals should talk to one another every now and then. Also they should have internal communications within the walls of the hospital. This helps them waste less money in developing various different methods and go with the existing techniques. This enables the reduction of treatment costs, as there is no cost of discovering which is also recovered from the patients. Integrated and Efficient Patient Care Managing millions of Electronic Medical Records presents quite a challenge today. Developing infrastructure is working hard to connect the countless trusts, hospitals, surgeries, etc. together through the cloud technology. Cloud computing is changing how doctors, nurses, clinics, and hospitals deliver quality and cost effective services. Patient care was affected during hard times, when costs need to be cut short. Cloud technology has offered numerous benefits like faster prescription advice for various contemporary medical problems. Data Analytics The healthcare sector is expected to grow in unprecedented rate in the following years. Housing the whopping amount of data associated with it will be a big challenge to the IT industries. The most effective solution to this problem seems to be using the cloud technology. Things could be made simple by making sure the data is in the right place so it can be used at the right time across multiple devices. Across one unified network infrastructure, it is impossible to deliver multiple services without cloud. Streamlined Collaboration
streamlined patient care. This is good because the patients don’t want to be readmitted to the hospital when they could have been taken care of the first time itself. When the whole team is able to communicate efficiently over cloud, readmission of the patient can be avoided. This system allows real time updates which make sure there are no gaps in the treatment. It saves lot of space and money, as there is no need of sending files. Electronic Records Doctors feel the lack of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is a big challenge to improve clinical and financial performance. The interoperability between all the providers and payers is hampered without EMRs. Cloud based EMRs can easily bring healthcare systems together. The technology provides a secure private network that is connected to the cloud. Such records have proven to be extremely protective. This also allows online access of medical records, lab reports, test results etc. to the patients. Eventually, the healthcare experience can be improved while people participate more in their treatments. Security and Mobility Patient data contains confidential information that doctors must always protect. This is a reason that makes it more important for hospitals and doctors to use the cloud technology. Cloud network had issues in regards to security earlier, but over the years measures have been taken to make it difficult to hack into. Increased levels of security and privacy exist in the cloud now. Advanced Clinical Research Sharing data between pharmaceutical giants via cloud will help researchers choose the best subjects. In a recent clinical trial big data revealed desipramine can be used in curing lung cancer. This type of collecting information to find a cure is known as Evidence Based Medicine. It is being used in many healthcare sectors that have now implemented cloud technology.
It is said that streamlined communication results in

e all grow and age accumulating years of experience, good and bad memories, grey hair, wrinkles, and most importantly, a family. As kids, we feel loved and taken care of by our parents. And when our parents age, it is our turn to reciprocate the love and make them feel cared for. As they age, their mind and body become frail and most become dependent on their family, just like kids, for things, big and small. It is projected that by 2060, the number of Americans aged 65 and older will double to 95 million from 52 million in 2018 making their share of the total population rise to 23 per cent. We must start preparing for their needs like housing, medicine and more. However, the current COVID-19 pandemic has also shown how resilient the elderly inhome care system can be. A single outbreak slowed down the care being delivered to the elderly in facilities and pushed some centers to closure due to lack of funds and food and most importantly, the vulnerability of adults in facilities towards diseases that realized a higher mortality rate as a result. The pandemic just underlined the importance of being in a home setting

With most skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities closed to visitors, even family, as a precautionary measure, many senior citizens in those facilities took ill due to loneliness and the uncertainty and anxiety over how long before they could see their loved ones in person. Emma was recognized in 2019 by the International Franchise Association as their Crystal Compass winner. She has been recognized as one of the ‘50 Women of Wonder in Franchising’ and in early 2020 was recognized as one of the ‘Top 20 Influential Women in Franchising’. A Need for Holistic and Proactive Approach According to Emma, senior citizens are among the most vulnerable populations. The medical community has done a terrific job of extending life expectancy. However, this has also increased the chances of living with chronic conditions, which poses challenges. She believes that healthcare needs to take a more holistic and proactive approach. Since Home Helpers Home Care is at the home, it has the advantage of observing changes in the senior’s health and habits sooner than others in health care. Delivering a Robust Care Program New Programs in Line Home Helpers Home Care has always had a spirit of innovation and compassion. The primary focus of the franchise model is for the clients that are entrusted in their care. This recession-resilient business model meets more than one’s economic needs i.e. the societal needs. It is a way to care and give back to one’s family and community. Home Helpers Home Care focuses on delivering exceptional care to its clients and its Net Promotor Score as measured by an independent third party is consistently above the industry average. It focuses on collaboration and the franchisee experience in creating profitable programs and growth. Nothing is implemented until it has been tested in pilot programs with franchisees a part of the project. Additionally, the annual survey completed by its franchisees through an independent third-party rates Home Helpers as exceptionally good in all eight categories measured.
Home Helpers Home Care will continue to be an organization with a spirit of innovation, as it has since inception. It will continue to deliver on its mission and incorporate other new programs to its portfolio. Recently, it has launched Home Helpers 2.0-The Next Generation after more than two years of work and now it is looking ahead to 3.0! Enlightening Aspiring Entrepreneurs In her advice to aspiring healthcare/franchising professionals and entrepreneurs, Emma asserts “Bold change will require a bold choice. And that will many times be uncomfortable. You have to ask yourself: 1) what is my goal 2) do I believe in myself to be successful and 3) am I ready to be bold and take this step?”
The organization has recently launched its new Cared-4 program that has been in pilot for over two years. It combines traditional in-home care with wellness

Snap Fitness has strong aspirations to be the global leader in fitness franchising and as such ensuing that our franchisee’s are fully engaged in the brand. The market is continually evolving and for Snap Fitness to continue its growth of market share the brand needs to evolve, franchisees need to continually learn and develop to ensure our fitness spaces and the customer journey remain best in class. I see Snap Fitness continuing to grow at pace the number of gym in the UK & Ireland but the long-term key to success is ensuring a quality sustainable business model that can ride the highs and lows of a turbulent economy. As an industry expert, what would be your advice to aspiring healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs? A successful franchise requires engaged franchisee’s. This will happen with ongoing support and education, continual development of the brand and staying ahead of the game with the latest fitness innovations and technology. That said the success of any gym will come down to nailing the basics: • Sourcing the right location with data driven decision making • A robust and flexible business model • Quality people that engage with the brand

or Senior Citizens, staying at home independently can be complicated when health issues strike. Talem Home Care & Placement Services, based out of Broomfield CO, provides services that support and help them stay in their home for as long as possible. Talem gives them self-confidence, freedom, and allows them to enjoy their life on their own terms. In addition to the free care advocation services it also provides assistance with activities of daily living (like dressing assistance, cooking, house cleaning, and transportation) so one can stay healthy and independent at home. If staying home is no longer an option, it then helps them find the appropriate senior living community. Jake Rankin, CEO and Co-founder, explains more about the noble service that he has been doing through his firm. Brief our readers about your company, its journey so far, its vision, and mission. Being in the industry for almost 15 years has really helped shape the mission and direction of our company. Through out my career I was always left feeling like something was missing or I constantly saw gaps in the way franchising and senior care was done.
32 | January 2021
On the franchising side I say a franchise model that sold franchises to anyone, offered little help and support, and sold territories that were way to small. On the senior care services side, through my professional career and through my own personal heartache, I saw that care was second to profit and I saw and the struggles people had in trying to navigate the complicated health care system. It was these observations that lead to the way we are today. As a franchisor, our goal is to develop select and elite franchise partners who are family and community minded and share our philosophy, values, and partnership approach. To create a relationship with our franchisees based on personalized support, shared decision making, and mutual respect and love for our clients and community. To be recognized for providing unmatched support and value and for creating effective, quality, and innovative community-based long-term care support programs for the community we serve. As a senior company we want to be the one place people can turn to, to get the answers they need. We want to be a trusted advisor and a resource centre to those who do not know where to go. At Talem Home Care, we empower
As the CEO and Co-founder, what is your opinion on the current state of healthcare services for senior citizens and how is your organization contributing towards making it better? Right now and for the next18 years, the need for healthcare services will be the most needed services facing our country. And while the COVID pandemic has cause horrible issues for all, one thing it has done is cast a positive light on our industry. It has really highlighted the need for the services we provide. At Talem, our focus is creating solutions to problems. We have already created programs to help combat loneliness, depression, and isolation. In addition, we see a need for a more What are your organization’s franchising USPs and what additional benefits/opportunities do you offer to your potential franchisors? We are introducing a more franchiseefriendly franchise offering. While increasing the territory size, the company is aiming to reduce the “nickel and dimeing” of fees as well. We are always asking ourselves if I was a franchisee, what would I want or expect. Leveraging over 70 years of combined experience, Talem Home Care strives to create a new franchise model that will lead the industry for years to come. The company has put together a unique franchise program. Its franchise package increases brand reputation more than any other brand by offering —Largest protected territories by far

Medical Staffing Services. In addition, their territory size is one of the largest offered in the industry. I highly recommend working with Talem Home Care. Talem offers a great value in their Franchise!”
Where do you envision your organization to be in the long run and what are your future goals? Our primary focus is on Multi-unit operators. While we strive to have 100, 200 locations or more across the country just like everyone else, we would like to have only 30-50 franchisees. Keeping a ratio of 1 franchisee for every 3 locations would be our perfect scenario. This will allow us to continue to provide our personal approach to training and support. Our goal is to have more quality franchise owner’s vs having a large quantity of franchise owners.

As an industry expert, what would be your advice to aspiring healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs? In looking at franchising in general, not matter what industry, I say there are 3 factors a person should look out for. • What is the experience of the leaders and the coaches. We find that many leaders and coaches have not done the work a franchisee is about to do. If I were buying a franchise, I would want to learn from someone who has been in my shoes. • Bigger is not always better. Larger brands often time seem too big. Many of which are owned by private equity groups or investors. You become another cog in the wheel, an assembly line. They tend to keep you at arm’s length away. Besides that is how they make their money. I would look for brands that take a personal approach to your training, support, and success.

Talem has the platform to enable a franchisee to get started and not have the worry or consider for any of the back office functions, so you can focus on the clients. It has been a rewarding experience to build a business of serving clients in the challenging times and with the support of the Talem brand. -Elliot Lekawa, Franchise Owner, Fort Collins, CO “I have worked with Talem Home Care on several different occasions. S TO AGE HEALTHILY Aging is a natural phenomenon that cannot be avoided. Many of us have fears regarding the process of aging. A common misconception among people is that, looking young means they are healthy, which is not actually true. Staying physically and mentally fit means that one is healthy. We all know that it is not about how long we live, but it is about how healthy and happily we live. It is our decision of how we want to ease the process of aging. Here are some ways that can help you to age healthily.
Eat Healthy
Live an Active Life
Having a healthy diet is very important for a healthy lifestyle. Every individual needs the right amount of proteins, calories, vitamins, etc. Eating fruits, vegetables, pulses, etc. everyday is necessary. Eating healthy keeps your body fresh and active. The healthier you eat the more you can stay away from medicines. During the old age we should try avoiding oily, spicy, and slow digestive foods.
Start an active and healthy lifestyle. Exercise should be included in the daily routine. The exercises could be simple like walking, stretching, using stairs, etc. Studies say that people who are physically fit live longer and better. Living an active life will help you to be independent and perform your own activities. It also helps boost self esteem, improve sleep patterns and give more energy.
Tips: Consulting a doctor for suggestions regarding the right diet plan would be helpful. We should keep in mind that every person has different dietary needs.
Tips: Doing something you enjoy is the key to stay active. Any physical activity like walking, riding a bike, swimming, aerobics, etc. can be incorporated in your daily routine.
Get Enough Sleep
Reduce Stress
In order for the body to rejuvenate, it needs proper rest. Older adults need just as much sleep as the younger adults – seven to nine hours per night. Lack of proper sleep can cause depression, frustration, stress, and memory issues.
With age the types of stress and the ability to deal with stress changes. The effects of stress on the body are vast, from causing premature aging to heart disease. Long term stress can lead to brain damage, memory loss, fatigue, etc. It is estimated that, 90% of illnesses are caused due to stress.
Tips: Insomnia can be avoided by cutting down daytime naps. Making a proper bedtime schedule and going to bed at the same time everyday can be helpful.

Tips: The situations of stress cannot be entirely avoided but we can cope up with it. Accepting and adapting to things can help reduce stress. Not always is the situation in our hands to control. Trying some relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, etc. can be beneficial.

Take Care of Your Mental Health
Find New Hobbies
It is vital that you engage your brain and keep it active always. Research shows that keeping the brain active may delay memory issues and brain related problems. Staying happy and staying away from stress helps maintain mental health.
Finding new and meaningful hobbies helps one stay busy. When you have a sense of purpose, you tend to be happier. Evidence shows that people who stay engaged in hobbies or social activities experience less depression.
Tips: Keeping your mood elevated is the best way. Spending time doing things you love or with the dear ones of your life could keep the mood up. Take dance lessons, learn music, or learn to play an instrument.
Tips: Engaging in social activities or learning something new could be useful to stay occupied. Volunteering in NGOs can be done too.
See a Doctor Regularly
Cultivate Your Relationships
Seeing a doctor regularly can help find problems before they even start. If any health issue is detected very late it will become difficult to treat. In early stages it would be less expensive and less risky to treat any issues.
During old age, the best medicine is love and care. Many older adults tend to stay alone. Staying connected with loved ones is important. Having a support system and a social network helps mental health. Loneliness can cause various health risks.
Tips: A proper schedule of monthly general checkups with the doctor should be made. A family doctor should also be fixed, so that they know the health history completely.
Tips: You should maintain regular communication with family and friends. You should attend gatherings, family parties, etc.
Practice Prevention
Give Up Smoking and Drinking
We all know that 'Prevention is the best Cure'. Many accidents, general health issues, depression, chronic illnesses, etc. can be prevented. If proper care is taken, you can lead a healthy life.
Smoking and drinking both increase the chances of premature aging and the risk of diseases. It is not easy to quit smoking, however there are resources available to help. We keep hearing how bad smoking is for our brain and body. And after a certain age, quitting smoking would be a good option.
Tips: Think about ways to improve your lifestyle to a healthy one. Contact your family doctor and consult regarding things that can be done to stay healthy according to your health conditions.
38 | January 2021
Tips: Drinking occasionally in limited quantities can be considered. Although, smoking should be completely avoided. Regardless of age, the lung capacity and energy levels will improve if you give up smoking.
