Genesis Hey Krick Transforming Your life through Mindset Shifts and Productivity Processes
Partner with Genesis today to unlock the strategies and tools necessary to move beyond old habits, mindsets and methods to create the life and career you’ve always dreamed of.
The right combination of enthusiasm, mindset, passion, and strategy deliver the kind of momentum that can make you UNSTOPPABLE.”
S
tress has become a pervasive part of the modern work culture, surrounding business leaders with ruthless competition and several responsibilities which can cause long-term health issues. To rescue the hard-working professional from overwhelming stress, Genesis Hey Krick created strategies to increase productivity and enhance the quality of life to achieve the balance of their personal and professional lives.
had been doing it all wrong. Instead of achieving massive unattainable goals every day, she decided to work toward the small achievable goals and provide results. Genesis broke through the glass ceiling and shattered the limiting beliefs she once had, and pivoted from barely getting by to working with many high-end clients. She moved from living a poverty mindset to a wealth mindset simply by making different choices about priorities, habits and handling setbacks. Her life dramatically changed when she discovered that she could live the life she wanted by simplifying, thinking outside the box, and creating revenue in areas, never considered before.
As the Founder and CEO of Dream, Ignite, Build Inc., Genesis provides individuals the tools to build the business of their dreams, living life on their terms. She is also a cohost on Thriving Women Talk, which airs E360TV weekly at 12:00 Eastern. It is a show that helps women feel empowered, enlightened, and encouraged by providing transformational content weekly consistently lifting women. Genesis is excited to co-produce a new reality show for busy parents and professionals that will be launched in April through Thriving Women Network on E360TV. Apart from being a Certified Life Coach, Genesis is highly family-oriented. Being a mother of four kids dramatically changed her way of living, prioritizing her kids and husband as she intends not to miss quality time with them. She believes that being conscious of time helps ensure that focus areas align with priorities. Genesis lives out what she trains her clients to do every day and uses her god-gifted talents to help others reach their most significant potential in life and business.
Genesis has authored three books; Unleash Your Potential, Hey! Do you Need Exposure? and Shine On, a 60-day devotional. Currently, she is working on her fourth, The Time Freedom Lifestyle. She is also the founder of Crazy Mom T.V., a YouTube Series for busy moms managing it all.
Every business field has gotten much more competitive, making it essential for businesses to often pivot towards coaches to value their gifting, which can unlock their potential to its extent and beyond. Genesis understands that trying to fit the mold of every single potential client is entirely unrealistic, thus making it a beautiful aspect of the executive coaching industry to choose how much one wants to share their knowledge at any given time. She believes that the most important thing is to leave your clients with a lasting impression that truly made a difference in their life.
Having garnered various life experiences, certificates, and credentials, Genesis says, "Life experience far exceeds education. I can relate to many entrepreneurs who are challenged with managing it all the time! Creating the Time Freedom Lifestyle Program has helped my family and me to go from surviving the day to thriving each day. I have guided 1000's of entrepreneurs to create customized plans for success using color coding, star tracking, time blocking, time batching, strategic planning, goal setting methods, and so much more."
The Teeterboard Journey After earning her Master's in Organizational Leadership, Genesis moved to Los Angeles and started her coaching business in 2009. She began her work in the heart of Beverly Hills, but things weren't always easy. Ten years ago, Genesis started her organization and shortly after became a single parent, forced to navigate a difficult life, never giving up on the desire to change lives on a large scale. Through the challenges of having minimal support and many setbacks from doors closing to pounding the pavement, Genesis woke up one day and realized that she
Flame On! Dream, Ignite, Build has evolved over the last ten years; achieving its mission is to serve its clients unlike any other organization in that it desires to take them back to the beginning, which means taking them back to a place where the baggage is gone. They are starting with a fresh slate. It removes all self-doubt, discouragement, and negative experiences and then determines what they truly want in life. They dream it, and the organization helps them ignite the passion and build it together.
Genesis is currently married with four beautiful children. She is a national speaker and provides group training, workshops, speaking engagements, and one-on-one coaching for her clients to help them reach the potential they never knew they had. She especially loves to speak about vision casting and dream mapping through strategic planning and time management planning.
I look forward to facilitating an unforgettable event for your organization to build leadership within, accelerate your vision for success and create exponential growth.
Dream, Ignite, Build helps clients achieve things they thought were impossible before by bringing them to a place where they overcome negative thinking, personal setbacks, distractions, and blocks. Genesis then maps out a specific plan of action by intricately bringing together life and business. Dream, Ignite, Build is driven by profound and solidified values where trust is the highest priority to give clients a happiness guarantee to attain goals it has committed to. Genesis notes, "Accountability plays an integral role in our organization as we are accountable to our clients, and we hold them accountable to their personal goals. We are highly innovative in mapping out strategic plans and always have a customizable approach to meet each client's needs. We are also very results-driven; when something isn't working, we work to make changes where necessary and develop new ideas and plans to create more consistency for long-term successes." Making the Most Genesis believes that there is always an impact to be made and work to be done. She asserts, "I would love to build a much higher level of trust and openness in my industry. Unfortunately, many individuals have had negative experiences with a coach, whether the coach took their money and didn't deliver, let the client believe unrealistic outcomes, or simply didn't provide the support necessary for the client to gain the confidence and momentum to make a difference." Trust and Connectedness are the centers of Genesis coaching as everyone wants every client to receive the same support, encouragement, and hands-on approach to achieve amazing results. She asks hard questions and is upfront with individuals about expectations. She notes, "The clearer we are, the more work we get accomplished." Adapting to the remote work culture probed on by the Pandemic, Genesis works with her clients online as technological advances have accommodated her business in every aspect. She is thrilled about the continued expansion and ability to have a global presence with technology. She provides 1-1 sessions, group training, focus groups, and networking groups to engage, interact and facilitate meetings to look forward to the continued progression to make a difference worldwide. The Shifting Tides As more and more individuals walk away from their jobs and careers that didn't serve them well, they are ready to
live life on their terms, using their gift in the world the way they intend to. Genesis asserts, "What we see now more than ever are individuals ready for a change in lifestyle and desire more freedom. Recently we started offering more services and products to help individuals scale their personal and professional lives in a way that was never done before." Dream, Ignite, Build helps clients create new habits, routines, and life management skills to take advantage of all the efforts they put forth each day by adapting to a new mindset, staying consistent, and working through a customized strategic plan to fit their needs. It helps their clients who work out of their home while raising their children and ultimately gives the individuals who work from home to thrive in their environment. Work-life balance can seem impossible, so Genesis created opportunities for these individuals to have it all. They serve their clients very well through various processes and systems because they get to live life on their terms. Farsighted Goals Genesis envisions her organization continues to grow every day by reaching individuals through conferences, social media, retreats, and online training. She plans to showcase her work on the Hallmark Channel and create programs for the youth to succeed in the next generation. She mentions, "Times have changed, and it is important for those of us in leadership roles to step out and help the younger generation establish confidence and skills to navigate this world as it continues to evolve. My mission in life is to help individuals to find their calling, achieve their dreams and leave a great legacy behind." "I don't want anyone to look back and wish they would have done something they didn't. That is why we need to take risks and believe in what we have not yet seen. If I am not coaching my clients, you will find me going for a run, rocking out on the keyboard, writing my next book, or playing outside with the kiddos," Genesis concludes.

he entrepreneurial zeal combined with a transformative idea holds the potential to bring the desired change in any industry. Ideas that bridge the gap between traditional methods and modern technology can empower people to make a dent in the universe. Akin to such zeal and vision, Farah Emara co-founded FreshSource to streamline the fresh produce supply chain. As the CEO, Farah aims FreshSource to be the leading fresh food distributor in the MENA region, leveraging data and technology to optimize the fresh food value chain.
handle the complete fresh food value chain such as transportation, storage, and packing in cold storage and packing facilities, providing producers with better consistent pricing and selling to the market at a reduced rate.
Farah is highly passionate about entrepreneurship and the value chain to eliminate unnecessary inefficiencies. Her remarkable efforts with strategic expertise are changing the norm of the agriculture niche, making her one of the most influential women entrepreneurs.
Vision: To create more sustainable fresh food systems through data & technology to transform the lives of producers, businesses, consumers and improve the planet.
Let us unveil her journey. The Fresh Start Farah's entrepreneurial drive began when she worked at Procter & Gamble while studying for her Master's in Business Administration from the London School of Economics. Simultaneously, Omar, her would-be business partner, worked for Goldman Sachs in London after acquiring his degree in Computer Science & Business Degree from the University of Bath. Farah and Omar had a keen interest in the agricultural sector, seeking new developments and innovation globally. After months of investigation and extensive research, they discovered that roughly 30% of Egyptian crops are wasted due to poor post-harvesting, storage, and transportation, jeopardizing its food security. Farah noted that these producers oversee most of Egypt's agricultural production. However, the high number of intermediaries in the supply chain lacked transparency, losing approximately 80% of their potential income. Thus, FreshSource was born to
Mission: FreshSource aims to leverage technology to become the leading fresh food distributor in the MENA region by changing the way fresh goods are sourced, moved, and sold.
Transforming Agricultural Value Chain FreshSource is introducing innovative technology to the traditional industry, holding the potential to position Egypt as a global leader in agriculture technology. Farah asserts that several international organizations have acknowledged FreshSource as a regional success story. It is revolutionizing the agriculture value chain by offering unique solutions for integrating producers into the modern process, ensuring fair prices, and reducing food loss.

FreshSource works with producers to give a market-driven approach to demand planning while improving their revenue by 20%. In its pursuit of technological excellence, FreshSource uses data to forecast market prices and supply variations. It links these producers with businesses, providing convenience through last-mile delivery, transparent pricing, and data analytics and saving them 15% on costs. It achieved a food loss rate of 5%, compared to the national average of 45 percent, with its holistic cold chain and data insights. The Possible Change Farah mentions that using technology and data to strengthen the fresh food value chain will significantly impact the country's economic development. She says, "By reducing food loss, you are reducing the cost of fresh food and enabling a segment of the population that could not previously afford it to have a healthier lifestyle. Also, regarding producers, this method increases their income and thus improves their quality of life."
food or how it has been handled. Using blockchain to promote the traceability of food will have a transformative impact. Experienced Guidance Farah advises budding women entrepreneurs aspiring to start their businesses to be aggressive. She says, "While it may be uncomfortable for some people to be assertive and it might not come naturally, unfortunately, it is seen as a sign of weakness by investors and other stakeholders. So if you want to get far, you must be determined and assertive." Farah expresses that an idea, no matter how unique or significant, is just an idea. Determination, perseverance, and transforming your setbacks into comebacks is what will build a truly successful enterprise. "We work hard to prepare our team and our company for exponential growth and always make data-driven decisions for our strategies. We are building a strong team with a solid foundation and processes in place that will enable us to transform the Egyptian agriculture industry," Farah concludes.
Farah believes that blockchain will have an immense impact on the value chain of food. It has already started happening and will only continue to transform the industry. Agriculture accounts for 40% of the global workforce and represents 6.4% of the entire world's economic production. Getting food from farm to table is an extremely complicated process with many intermediaries. Farah notes that people are oblivious to what has been sprayed on their

W
hat separates successful business leaders from the rest? It is their sheer ability to focus on what matters and eliminate the unessential. Successful business leaders have the knack for getting things done differently. They think big to win big. They have a broad-minded approach. They are concise and eloquent. They speak what they mean, and they mean what they speak. They are rational and crystal-clear in their approach. They know that there are better practices to even best practices, and thus, they deliver beyond expectations. Successful business leaders align their vision with the execution. They don’t give in to the negative temptations and the allurements that will divert them from their most precious goals. They believe that it is more important to mind their resolutions than anything else. The mark of great business leaders is that they have the sharp abilities to focus on the good and remove the bad. They replace everything bad with the potential good. They transform challenges into opportunities. They utilize resources most diligently. They make the best utilization of what they have. They understand that it is equally important to know what to do and what not to do. Their ability to distinguish between truth and illusion helps them make high-value decisions that will be profitable in the long run. We are living in a world with a lot of temptations all around, and it is very easy to get distracted. But great leaders can focus on what they want to accomplish even amidst a lot of temptations. They are never distracted from their goals and visions. They understand that to be distracted means to be disempowered and, thus, always look at the bigger picture. The leaders who can focus on the tasks in their hands can achieve remarkable feats in the businesses they are leading. Focusing on one particular aspect doesn’t mean they are short-sighted, but they keep track of important things that will help them reach their goals.
Successful business leaders have different traits than ordinary people. They slow down once in a while to relook where they are going on, assess the situation well, and change the strategy if needed. They are very flexible in their approach. They are not hallucinatory, but they match their actions and thoughts. They are not rigid in their approach but take situational decisions that will eventually help them attain their business targets. If they are met with temporary failure, they don’t change their goals but change their strategy to achieve those goals. They don’t give up on their most important goals. Failure is not a word in the dictionary of successful business leaders. They treat failure as a stepping stone or as a learning experience on the journey of success. Nothing belittles the morale and the conscience of successful business leaders. They remain committed to the process of consistently working hard towards their most cherished goals. Their commitment to the process makes them glorious and sustainably successful. They remain resolute in their purpose and eventually reach the landmark of success. They address the needs that need to be addressed most profoundly and make a significant impact in the business they are leading. In a world full of distractions, we can achieve our goals only if we focus on achieving our goals instead of being diverted or distracted by anything else.

Hayley Bohan Elevating YOUR Brand to the Next Level
Hayley Bohan
Founder & Strategic Marketer Marketing On Purpose
The 10 Most Influential Women Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2022
A “
world where people pursue their dreams is a better world” is what Hayley Bohan believes as she paves a path towards her dreams, helping entrepreneurs to do the same with her venture Marketing On Purpose. Hayley is impacting the marketing world by teaching small business owners how to build their unique brand-worthloving marketing strategies that result in revenue growth. Her dedication to small businesses proves to be paramount in building brands that customers can fall in love with. Insights Success caught up with Hayley to know how her contributions turn the tides to lay the foundation of a thriving business. Below are the highlights of the interview: Brief our audience about your journey as a business leader until your current position at Marketing On Purpose. What challenges you have to overcome to reach where you are today? I've been marketing my entire career. About nine years ago, I was in what I thought would be my dream job, traveling for commercial shoots, radio records, and focus groups. But I was really conflicted. My children were young, and I was missing them, so I quit after much discussion with my husband. I was so happy to have more time with my children but felt a part of my identity was gone. After a few months, I started working from home for a friend who owned a small technology company. This was one of the first times I worked with a small business, and I really liked the agility and flexible work schedule. After about four years, I ventured into entrepreneurship for myself. I started Marketing On Purpose at the end of 2017 to help small business owners create brand and marketing strategies to level up their businesses. Tell us something more about Marketing On Purpose Inc, its mission, and vision. I've always wanted what I did to matter and to make a positive impact in the world, so when I started Marketing On Purpose, I built that positive impact into the fiber of the business. My vision is for more businesses to step up and create more positive change in their communities, in society, or in the world. Entrepreneurs are the doers; they are brave, they are inspiring, and I believe they can truly change things for the better. So, I built a process for them to build a brand strategy that includes a strong purpose beyond their product or service- weaving positive change into their businesses as well. My goal is to be the catalyst for waves of positive change with every business we work with.
Enlighten us on how you have made an impact in the marketing niche through your expertise in the market. I was at a conference about a year ago, and the speaker asks a room of entrepreneurs if they think marketing is "sleazy." I looked around, and everyone, except me, raised their hand. I was surprised and sad, considering I spent my whole adult life as a marketer. But at that moment, I knew I needed to change the way entrepreneurs looked at marketing, and I needed to become a bigger advocate for more integrity, transparency, accountability, and authenticity in marketing. I've added education about how to market with integrity, and I've built the brand-worthloving process to include making brands matter more and being more real, Of course, if a business owner thinks marketing is a bad thing, they won't do it, and sadly, no marketing often means they don't reach their goals. And, if they don't reach their goals, it will impact their ability to do good in their communities and in society.
Imagine the beauty we'd create if companies everywhere strived to matter more.
FEBRUARY 2022 | 21 | www.insightssuccess.com
Enlighten us on how you are making an impact for small businesses with your marketing expertise. Many small business owners cannot afford to hire senior-level marketing professionals to help define the brand and marketing strategies for their businesses. They often hire one-off services like "build me a website," or they try it on their own. I am trying to educate small business owners so they have a strong brand strategy and overall marketing strategy that they can execute themselves or outsource. I work with them on the strategic foundation of their marketing so they can stop winging it. When business owners start with the full picture and have a stronger understanding of their customers and brand, their marketing will be easier, and they will get better results. If given a chance, what change would you like to bring in the economic development? Small businesses can really help fuel economic growth in communities, but the stats are not in their favor. Many fail in the first few years. I'd love to see more support for small business owners. In New Brunswick, where I live, there are many amazing opportunities for support and non-repayable funding. It would be great to see more of that. The first level of support small business owners need from a marketing perspective is strategic. Let's teach the owners about building their brands, really understanding their customers, and help them create an overall marketing strategy before we use the available resources and grants on execution. The strategy must come first in order for the execution to be effective. That's the change I'd like to see. Where do you envision yourself to be in the long run and what are your future goals for Marketing On Purpose? I'd love to get the Brand-Worth-Loving method out to more and more business owners. Not only will it help them be more effective in their marketing efforts because they will be working from a place of clarity, but a Brand-WorthLoving requires an authentic connection to a greater good that the business owner wants to work towards outside of the product or service they offer, and a commitment to follow-through. As more business owners adopt this type of brand strategy for their businesses, the more positive impact we will create in a world that could use it. I have a book and a DIY course coming out this Spring so it will be more economically feasible for more businesses to learn about and adopt this unique style of brand strategy.

Jennifer Ammons
Curating A Unique Bridal Show
he most intriguing aspect about acting on a unique idea is that it brings together creative minds together to initiate a change that can disrupt the industry's landscape for the better. To connect the newly engaged couples to several local boutique vendors to form a connection before investing towards their special day under one big roof was the core idea that birthed The Big Fake Wedding.
T
to succeed at an event. She asserts, "We personally know each and every business we work with, and we know what they need. It also works because, unlike the majority of the wedding industry media, we are not in it to propel the unnecessary stress and competition of wedding planning and instead exist to encourage solid, committed marriages of all types." TBFW doesn't join on the hand wagons and intentionally chooses to market uniquely and genuinely.
Jennifer Ammons leads The Big Fake Wedding as the CEO and Owner, steering her experience to expand worldwide. Embarking on the mission of TBFW, Jennifer promotes small businesses, inspires couples, and encourages solid marriages, creating a platform where brands can showcase their best, resulting in a network of like-minded business owners with future clients at their fingertips.
Jennifer states that engaged couples come to the TBFW events entrusting that the brand only supports fair, quality, and authentic local businesses. Couples visit the events to carry out real conversations and view the relationships between the clients and vendors without any pressure.
An Arbitrary Beginning Having very little interest in becoming involved in the wedding industry to becoming the CEO of an experiential marketing company in the niche has been an exhilarating ride for Jennifer. She didn't plan her elaborate wedding, having a small dinner table of eight, before stepping into becoming the owner of The Big Fake Wedding, realizing that the industry is filled and served by small businesses chasing their dreams, no marketing support. Thus, Jennifer understood that the small business is the heart of the wedding industry. She is honored to work with 800 supporting the business annually. Jennifer welcomes 2022 to bounce back from the unprecedented times with newly rejuvenated nationwide awareness and support small businesses. Thinking Out-of-the-Box Jennifer expresses that the TBFW business model works because it cares about supporting business vendors, setting them apart from an average "boxed event." Every Big Fake Wedding vendor is individually connected to in-house Production Managers, with their cheerleaders guiding them

TBFW provides a reminiscing experience that couples can witness personally rather than viewing from a zoom call. The event includes a REAL vow renewal, 15 minutes where the mingling stops to remind why marriages are so great in the first place. "Without this, we'd be just another wedding show," mentions Jennifer. Heads Up Move Forward In the relentless pursuit of being the best, in 2022, Jennifer hopes to propel the industry's disruption by changing how GenZ can book vendors and organize and serve clients while also seamlessly growing its business. The methodologies that engaged couples can utilize to find quality vendors are antiquated and entirely driven by large conglomerate companies that follow an advertise-based business model. Although, The Big Fake Wedding has impactful imprints, having a personal conversation with the clients and vendors knowing the need for change. Jennifer notes, "Clients want easier ways to book vendors instantly, vendors want easier ways to track and follow up with leads, and easier ways to create residual quality bookings under the secureness of a brand they trust is rooting for them. The Big Fake Wedding is striving to be this solution in 2022." The experiential platform that TBFW provides is expanding by strategically partnering with a new company in the tech industry, Wedy. The company will continue to serve the industry needs as engaged couples look for better ways to spend their budget; Wedy and The Big Fake Wedding will be the first trusted choice.
Thriving Connection Jennifer welcomes the changes in the wedding and marketing industry but hopes that people never lose sight of human connection. "Owning a business BASED on the human connection during a pandemic that forbids it was, to say the least, hard. But we continued to be supported by the network we had created because human connection is desirable, and we had created not just a network but a family," expresses Jennifer. She is hopeful to embrace the innovative technology platforms to support the business model to serve everyone better but also knows that the human part of people will never cease to exist and wants organizations to continue seeing value in that. The Blooming Bud Jennifer witnessed several businesses fail and flail, and new opportunities and ideas came into existence, primarily woman-owned. As women continue to seek meaningful purpose outside their responsibilities in the home, more small businesses will blossom. In her concluding thoughts, Jennifer advises, "When the woes of business ownership hit, which they undoubtedly will remember why you started. Was it to create or fuel a passion that could serve your family or lifestyle? Then honor that. Quit or scale back if you have to, but never waiver and continue to create those same benefits and safe spaces for other women to be employed.”

As the CEO, Laurel leverages the power of workplace flexibility to impact business operations and socioeconomics. Dive into her uprising story! The Pointed-Out Norm Remote work wasn't always the viral, exciting topic it is now. Laurel's decision to open a bootstrapped consultancy exclusively in this niche was perceived as an irresponsible risk. But now that there is global demand for her expertise, it adds to her existing challenges. Laurel shares, "My small business is thriving for its size but is in direct competition with the largest consultancies in the world — multi-billion organizations with enormous workforces and unlimited funds. It's surreal to be in proposal negotiations, and the client says, "We're trying to decide between Distribute and Deloitte. Why should we choose you?" I think we'll be fighting this David-andGoliath battle (and the imposter syndrome that comes along with it) for a long, long time.” Harnessing Virtual Workforce Distribute is an internationally-renowned management consulting firm and think tank pioneering the concept of virtual organizational development. Its services empower business and government leaders to start, strengthen, and leverage virtual workforces to solve corporate and socioeconomic painpoints, such as workforce discrimination, job accessibility, business continuity, talent retention, workforce diversity, economic development, company profitability, and environmental sustainability. It operates through change management consulting, content development, and operations analysis. Denting the Universe Laurel states that resistance from mid-level management is
the number one barrier to success when adopting a workplace flexibility model. It is because managers often feel smashed in between the demands of their team members below them (who want maximum levels of flexibility) and senior leadership above them (who are concerned about the financial impacts of workplace transformation on the organization). Both parties are looking to these managers to provide solutions and guide the company through the change management process, but there is no training on how to do it. Thus, they naturally feel stuck and overwhelmed until they finally revert to the familiar and comfortable — working in an office. At Distribute, the team believes that for sustainable workplace flexibility, it's essential to equip all levels of leadership with comprehensive training on various topics. From observing working styles and non-verbal behaviors in virtual team members, to measuring productivity based on results instead of time, building trust without spending time together, reducing meeting volume (to prevent the infamous "Zoom fatigue"), and much more. Astute Technological Clout Laurel expresses that consulting is an infamously expensive and challenging business model to scale. She adds, "As a bootstrapped, lean small business, we knew that we would have to break tradition to meet the overwhelming demand for remote work expertise." Thus, Distribute challenges and analyzes traditional consulting methods to find opportunities for delivering content asynchronously through various mediums that include: video messaging, automated analysis tools, templating resources in cloud docs; all of which enable less dependency on human capital and inperson services delivery to fuel more efficient scaling. Waving the Magic Wand Laurel knows that remote work is a revolutionary opportunity not only for businesses, but for communities too. The rise of distributed businesses can turn traditional

he quote goes, "The tree that bears fruits gets the most stones thrown at it," which precisely resembles Laurel Farrer's 15 years of efforts when she founded Distribute in 2018. Ahead of its time, Distribute used the benefits of remote work to solve business concerns that extended into every industry and community. Laurel was publicly mocked by brands like Google, Slack, and LinkedIn for her advocacy; however, the tables turned, and today, working from home has been a global norm since 2020. The mockers are now ironically marketing their support for flexibility.
Remote work isn’t about pajamas and convenience, it’s about power and choice.

economic development on its head. Historically, economies grow based on workers moving to places where jobs are available. "But now, with workplace flexibility,” she says, “we can reverse that and bring stable jobs to workers, wherever they are. I've helped design incredible programs with governments and universities around the world that have rescued ghost towns and isolated communities from economic collapse.” Laurel continues, "I think that this is what makes me a true pioneer — not only that I'm helping to carve the path for a new industry, but that I am a first-hand example of what I advocate. I am proof that the virtual business world can offer unprecedented opportunities for diversity and inclusion — it's where a young, rural mother can have an international voice and make a global impact with nothing more than a $100 laptop and free wifi at the library.” Expecting Shifting Tides Laurel mentions that workers have gathered together in a single location since the Industrial Revolution to produce results together. Everything humankind knows about business and teamwork is built on the foundational assumption that people will be together as they collaborate. Even the concept of a manager is built on the objective to supervise the production process physically. So, now, with the rise of hybrid workplace models and distributed teams, people have hundreds of years of unlearning to do in order to operate in a way that isn't dependent on proximity. She asserts, "Every professional in the world has the challenge of understanding that work is something we do, not somewhere we go. Here at Distribute, we're helping business leaders adopt that new mindset and transform their operations to be as flexible and location-independent as their staff.” Above and Beyond Distribute is doing phenomenal work as a consulting firm. However, the world needs more than management training
and change management resources to build a strong foundation for the new normal of hybrid workplace models and location-independent workforces. It would be Laurel's dream and honor to expand her business into a comprehensive international think tank — a source of research, training, books, and software that teaches the world about the power of virtual organizational development. Hey! Here's a Piece of Advice To prevent some pain points of building a new business, Laurel advises aspiring entrepreneurs to start with personal experience. Since the global rise of working from home in 2020, she watched hordes of ambitious visionaries see the "gold mine" value of remote work and try to eagerly capitalize on it with flashy product pitches and business proposals. However, their ideas were hollow and inflexible because they had never experienced the pain and stress of solving these problems themselves first-hand as the manager of a distributed team. She says, "Ambition alone means you can't sympathize with the client, so it compromises the credibility of someone’s expertise and their ability to deliver genuine customer service. So, work in a field for at least a few years before trying to build solutions for it as an expert or thought leader."
The Break from the
ORTHODOX
LEADERSHIP T
here is a saying, "become the best version of ourselves." Well, what does it take to become one? It is the break from the ordinary, challenging orthodox thinking, and coming out as the best version of ourselves. It applies the same in leadership; today, it is the break from orthodox leadership, which we need with innovative ideas. What else follows in the journey of a leader? Let's have a look through this article. Long-lasting Leadership The will to learn new things by collaborating with the experts of that particular field expands the knowledge of the business leaders. While we may agree that everyone's journey in life is different, it follows you till the end once you choose. But the end goal is to make an impact in the life of others, be it in the form of business, sports, politics, entertainment, or any other niche. And, when it comes to business, there is a position where assisting, motivating, and impacting the lives of others is the responsibility of the business leader - CEO. The decisions taken by a CEO can have a huge impact on the organization's life and the people. The CEO Ingredients When we speak about the CEO, what are the must-have qualities to watch out for? The primary aspect comes from knowing to solve the problems of the employees and the company. The team's support helps the CEO in critical times and without a team player, one cannot succeed in business or any other field. The rest of the qualities comes from maintaining a culture that is worth inspiring and following. The CEO is the most appropriate and responsible person for meeting the needs of the employees and the company. The ideas, decisions, and culture set by the CEO make the company shine in every situation. He/she is involved in every management decision and is the person who understands the clients and the employee's needs. He/she
also acts as a mediator who digs deep into every problem of all the company levels, as the CEO is involved in several meetings right from the employee to the company growth. There is no single decision taken without a CEO; as a matter of fact, he/she is the face of the management. There is a lot of value for integrity in the life of a CEO because you have to provide honest recommendations and instruction in every part of the organization. Additionally, being aware of the market updates and know-how comes naturally, as you got to be the best in business for the team and the company. Lastly, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the organization makes the organization a place to thrive. Where are we Now and the Future Today, we see more intelligent CEOs with a positive and fresh approach entering the business arena, breaking the trend of orthodox leadership. With their innovative thinking, companies are resulting in more innovative practices. The CEO is bringing the transformation and successfully meeting all the expectations from the clients to the employees. Ultimately, only living up to these values can bring the overall transformation in the industry. The journey of the CEO is no doubt challenging but looking at the results, it is all worthy in the end. In a world full of transformation, it is best to balance both technology and compassion. It will lead us all to a better future, where we as humans can nurture and progress even more, making the world a better place to live for us all. Lastly, with this, let's all hope that we live a life full of compassion and kindness whatever time we have on earth. After all, it should not always be about the business and profit but also about creating a world of opportunities, where all the people feel included. And, being a CEO, it becomes his/her role to lead all such people with the best skillset.

Having grown up playing games such as Sim City, I knew games leave an impression on our brains that transcends the boundaries of the virtual world. I wondered to myself, if games on building cities can teach urban planning, can games focusing on environmental awareness promote climate action, those about women’s rights promote equality, or those building humane education improve animal welfare? Games have the power to leave an impression on our brains that far transcends the boundaries of the virtual world, and I am committed to leveraging this power to inspire social change.

For this work, I have been recognized on the Forbes Next 1000 entrepreneur list and received the Clinton Global Initiative Honor Roll Award. But I have not done this work alone. When they say it takes a village, it really does! I would not be where I am today had it not been for my family, friends, collaborators, investors & the GRID team, and especially my COO (and brother) Rizwan Nusrat! For the past year, I have focused my entrepreneurial efforts on building Breshna under a new venture-backed C-corp. We have only been incorporated for 7 months, but we’ve made mad progress. We launched Breshna’s MVP with a game jam and had 6k users create 1k video games in 96 hours. We have 9 B2B partnerships aimed at getting Breshna in the hands of users. We are diverse, capital-efficient, and highly motivated individuals. Our core values are impatient optimism, community first, undiluted creativity, graceful growth, and humble confidence. If given a chance, what change would you like to bring in the gaming industry? I absolutely believe we need more women in the gaming space. Women belong in all walks of life & it breaks my heart to see women self-selecting themselves out of the industry. We have to address our imposter syndrome upfront; that constant self-doubt leading to questions like “Am I good enough?” or “Do I belong in this industry?” Thoughts like these are the reason we see women shying away from unleashing their full potential in their professional careers. For all of them, I have two words “You belong!”

What, according to you, could be the next big change in the gaming industry? How is your company preparing to be a part of that change? We are operating at two exploding tech trends; The serious games market is expected to be $29B by 2025, while the global low-code development platform market is expected to produce $187B in revenue by 2030. Furthermore, we are not only democratizing the video games industry but also the NFT space, where everyone can embed their NFTs into their own video games!
If you have an idea to solve a pain point that you see in the world, the only scenario where you “fail” is the one where you do nothing about it. Do not let your gender, your educational background, your income status, or the color of your skin hold you back from becoming the best version of yourself!

Making the Stylist Inside You Future Ready

ive a few years into the past, and you’ll notice when social media mainly existed for entertainment purposes and was not as businessdriven as it is today. However, the waves of transformative shifts in the business world when building a robust client base required paper ads, passing business cards, and word of mouth began to change and took a more digital route. Surrounding were evolving, and not many people adapted quickly, but when they did, they defeated all the odds to perceive the success they yearned for. Akin to the words above is Meagan Gallman, who realized her potential and finally overcame the naive mindset that held her back for years to find her venture, The Magnolia Parlor. Meagan decided to booth rent after pursuing her career started as a commission stylist in a salon. She faced several challenges along her journey but struggled with one for years when people didn’t take her seriously as an artist. She had to fight tooth and nail to prove her value and be respected while facing her biggest pet peeve, “So, you’re just a hairstylist.” Overcoming similar comments, Meagan learned from experience, allowing herself to grow and making things happen for her amid the disbelief of others. Over the years, Meagan has built herself a reputation by working in various aspects of the industry, aspiring every artist to view that success can be achieved even from a small town in the South with dedicated efforts. She impacts the industry as an educator for Joico, Olivia Garden, and is also part of the education team for Beauty Launchpad. With years of experience, Meagan made strides with her words as a guest writer for multiple beauty publications. She asserts. “There is room for everyone with a passion for the beauty industry. That drives me to impact my industry in the most positive way possible.” The Passionate Culture Meagan strongly believes in sharing the knowledge that she received with other stylists. After spending half her career
as a Master Colorist, she was blessed to work with a few prestigious names in the industry and considers herself lucky to call them friends. Meagan loves mentoring young stylists and is eager to teach them about the know and how of the industry, guiding them to avoid her mistakes to excel from the start. Meagan mentions that she never knew that she wanted to launch her venture, The Magnolia Parlor. It has become a safe and creative space for stylists to grow their talents and succeed in various ways. She understands the stagnant feeling one might feel due to lack of support system, limited access to education, demographic mindset, and lack of mentorship and encouragement. Meagan gives it her all with the thoughtful approach that allows her to remedy the negative thoughts of the students that can take over and deliberate their confidence. Meagan invests in her stylist, setting a goal where she wants them to be better than herself. She wants her students and stylists to grow continuously because she understands that getting comfortable in the beauty industry is dangerous. She notes, “You become comfortable, you become lazy. You become lazy; you become irrelevant. You become irrelevant; you become forgotten. You become forgotten; your career is dead. Never become comfortable. Become an unforgettable life force of the beauty industry.” From training stylists from basics to business, Meagan has cultivated a vibrant culture by entrusting her team with the core of The Magnolia Parlor: tackling and achieving anything. She describes being an entrepreneur as like running a household, and she is the head of her salon household. She ensures that her mindset is on point and that she is ready for anything. She asserts, “If the core is weakened, the household will crumble. No entrepreneur wants their empire to fail, especially because they have lost sight of what is important.”

Adapt, Embrace, Bequeath When the world was dealing with the chaos of pandemics, Meagan and her team learned to adapt to the situation to ensure the continuation of the success of her Fempire. In her opinion, technology has its definite downfalls but also has been the saving grace. During the pandemic, Meagan taught countless classes digitally while keeping up with the team. The different technology implementations allowed her to pre-record lessons and guide stylists with platforms like zoom, which boosted her as an entrepreneur. Meagan expresses that she would like to see more states allow an “apprenticeship” program added to Cosmetology Curriculums. She wishes that there should be designated salons that should pass an accreditation application to be involved. So, students could acquire a certain amount of their practical hours within an accredited salon. It will allow future professionals in the beauty industry to adapt to an actual salon environment. In Meagan’s opinion, with the addition of the accreditation salon program, students will be
able to shadow and assist while in school and essentially get acquainted with real-life salon situations and how to address them. Moving ahead, Meagan envisions a beautiful educationbased salon blossoming in ways that a younger, naïve, unrealistic “business owner” would have never thought possible. She sees herself working diligently to help change the small mindset of those who have stereo typed the beauty industry as just a play job or a backup plan if Plan A doesn’t work out. Meagan advises budding women entrepreneurs never to stop learning and studying about every side of the industry. Finding compatible mentors is essential to produce the type of work that intrigues oneself. “Never settle. Perform like a professional, and you will be respected as a professional. Perform like someone that plays with hair as a hobby, and you will not be taken seriously,” concludes Meagan.

Shifting Ways to Humanize Pet Experience
T
he path to success is always windy, and anyone who asserts otherwise is lying. Akin to a hurdled start and a steady rise, Parisa Fowles-Pazdro's path to success has been interesting, challenging, and filled with obstacles that have shaped her into becoming Founder & CEO of maxbone. Parisa launched maxbone on the principle that "our pets deserve the best as our family members" – an entirely new concept to the pet industry. She believes that Pet products should be no different than what people would eat, use, or wear; thus, she created the company to humanize the entire experience within the pet industry. Let us unveil Parisa's transformative efforts of the pet wellness solution they deserve. Learning & Growing Growing up in a family of academic parents who sacrificed a lot to ensure a better future for their children inspired Parisa to always aim for the highest. As a young entrepreneur, she made money by getting on the real estate ladder and then experimented with different business ideas before launching maxbone in 2017. It takes guts to execute an idea, and Parisa has always jumped right in, following her intuition having a good sense of what's missing in the market. She often says, "Hardship often prepares ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny." As fortune favors the brave, being the founder of a rapidly growing startup requires much proactive work, but maxbone accomplished many things reasonably quickly with a clear mission.
FEBRUARY 2022 | 45 | www.insightssuccess.com
Parisa's journey has been incredible, and she is deeply grateful to her talented team. She expresses, "It doesn't get easier as you grow since you face different challenges along the way. Resilience brings experience, which enables you to deal with problems differently. With that being said, you have additional resources as you grow, so you can build better teams and obtain new support across all departments.” Empowering Pets and Pet Owners maxbone's mission is to provide modern pet parents with a one-stop-shop where they can shop for all their pet needs all in one place. As the first branded pet label on the market, it has a full-service digital platform for all the dog needs, including freeze-dried food made with superfoods and cozy beds, jackets, and carrier bags. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic showed everyone the importance of health, home, and the family that inhabits it, maxbone already held these values close when developing exceptional products for discerning pet owners. maxbone has cemented itself as the go-to destination for thoughtful, beautiful pet accessories, supplies, food, and wellness products. Reimagining the pet industry one piece at a time always brings the best to the new generation of pet owners. Epitomized by the launch of MB Eats, maxbone's meal and supplement line, the level of research, thought, and design Parisa and team put into their products remains unmatched within the nearly $100 billion industry. As the first direct-to-consumer business of its kind with this innovative approach to the way it takes care of pets, maxbone's dedication to quality remains the brand's guiding principle. Distinctive Approach Despite being a digital-native company, maxbone also recognizes offline experiences' importance. Its pop-up store strategy engages consumers, creates meaningful connections, and exposes the brand to new and strategic markets. maxbone understands the needs of consumers, and especially in the pet industry, the shopping experience is still very outdated. maxbone created its retail strategy to appeal to a new generation of shoppers who seek high-quality products and unique experiences. Whether through a pop-up store, brand partnership, or activation, its goal is to keep the customer engaged and excited for the next big thing. The Technological Assistance maxbone effectively leverages technology to boost
“A modern destination for the modern pet lover.” customer satisfaction by automating its customer service department to improve its system. It intends to provide customers with a streamlined and purposeful experience. Parisa notes, "For us, technology is a key component of building deep relationships with existing customers and also attracting new ones. More importantly, we are a datadriven company that uses analytics to understand what our customers are looking for and design products that suit their needs.” Compassionate Desire Parisa wishes that brands would understand that today's pet owners are taking their love of pets to a whole new level. Pets are family members and not property. As millennials are more likely to prefer having pets than children, creating products that don't appeal to this new generation is no longer cutting edge. As pet owners browse for food and supplies, they bring the same checklist that they would for their products. Therefore, brands must adapt to this new demand. Potential Shifts Parisa states that even though the health and wellness sector is booming, accessory brands are just now recognizing that new pet owners want unique pet supplies. She shares, "Due to the very different shopping patterns of millennials and generation z, brands realized it is necessary to update their offerings to cater to the new masses. maxbone was a pioneer in providing branded pet products with modern designs and a superior shopping experience. Seeing a gap in the industry, we developed our products for the modern pet owner who wasn't represented in the market." As a result, maxbone is now considered a trusted resource for consumers looking for quality, design, and practicality.
maxbone's initial years were dedicated to creating a brand that would garner trust and loyalty to increase customer retention. "The brand-building approach was unheard of when we first started, but now it has proven to be successful, with pet owners relying on our business for all their needs," asserts Parisa. By focusing on brand partnership strategies, broadening maxbone's health and wellness offerings, and providing an unmatched shopping experience, it hopes to reach as many pets and pet owners as possible with the care they deserve.
Over the Horizon Parisa intends maxbone to become the #1 destination in the pet industry by building a platform to serve pet owners looking for convenience, practicality, and unique designs. She notes, "Even the industry's major players are just now recognizing the new demand and turning to maxbone for design-driven products and high-quality food and supplements.”
Finger to the Bone Parisa advises budding entrepreneurs aspiring to venture into the business sector to pick the markets that are scalable enough for the long haul. "Businesses that succeed have a simple math formula - demand plus customer acquisition. As soon as you've found the right product-market fit, just go for it. Overthinking could result in you losing market share to other competitors," Parisa concludes.
