ecoming an entrepreneur at a young age is not easy. The journey is filled with a lot of ‘No’s’ instead of Yes. The fact that people do not take you seriously when you venture out shows how much of an improvement the global business paradigm needs in the space of acceptance and recognizing young talent. Young minds have a creative approach to every problem and unique solutions come out of maintaining such an outlook. The business environment is very comprehensive and ever-changing. It is not easy to keep up with the changes. The resolve that it requires and the focus one needs to put on the efforts is quite tiring. Sometimes, even large, and renowned organizations crumble due to the lack of forecasting and accepting changes wherever necessary. This is where a fresh and energetic input comes under limelight. The one who brings this light not just only enables latest and innovative ideas but tackles problems effectively and efficiently with new tactics
From the and disruptive processes. Traditional methods of doing business sometimes can become a limitation and that is why a young mind can reinvent something that is already good into something that transcends greatness. What makes all this possible, you ask? Well, the curiosity and the drive to make a difference in the business world is highly contagious. More so in the case of young entrepreneurs who are ready to explore the world and are quite fit enough to do it on their own. Leadership qualities differ from generation to generation. What might have worked 20 years ago in the business may not be yielding results now. When the dynamics of business environment keeps changing, so does the behaviour of consumers. To meet the current customer expectations, sometimes an out-of-the-box approach can do wonders for the business. Now this new approach and fresh conceptualization especially on a trial-and-error basis can yield different results. May it be positive or negative, a young entrepreneurial spirit is more accommodated to handle the repercussions and after-effects of fruitless efforts if anything goes sideways rather than a reputed organization with a limited room for improvisation. Young minds have potential to achieve great things if guided and nurtured properly. In the business world where everything is changing by the minute, those who have firm desire to succeed will only remain in the game. People who try to make a difference without a proper plan of action are destined to face obstacles
EDITOR that will outgrow them; whereas dynamic minds will have lucrative ideas to initiate different plans of action with contingencies in place. A business is like riding a horse. Until and unless you know how to reign in, you will not be able to win the horserace. That is where a true leadership is defined - the way you do business. Now a lot of seasoned professionals derive their experience through the years of expertise they have gained and most of the times their inputs are remarkably good. But the young generation brings to the table an opportunity to do something that has been never done before... a journey towards discovery of nuances never explored before. So, to embrace, enlighten, and aware the business world about the efforts of the young generation of entrepreneurs, we at Insights Success brought stories of some young and dynamic business evangelists who are striving to make a difference in the Indian business paradigm. Through our latest edition, ‘The Young and Dynamic Entrepreneurs to Watch,’ we want to shed some light on the millennial generation of corporate professionals. ntrepreneurship is a way of life”, believes Victoria Larsen. Victoria is a model, actress and is perusing Business Studies. Being born to a successful Indian Entrepreneur mother Nicole Rodrigues and Danish father Henrik Larsen, Victoria values attributes such as honesty, passion, determination, and confidence. Since her family has multiple businesses, currently, she is contributing in the different businesses and experiencing the day to day activities and creative ways around them. Being born a roman catholic to parents who believe in being a good person more than ritual cultural beliefs has helped Victoria develop with quiet a broad mind. Having the value system from the east and the exposure of the west “ gives her a great advantage. She enjoys sports a lot from the likes of tennis, swimming and many more extreme sports. She also enjoys the arts and is an avid dramatics student with a keen academic influence that makes her well rounded. Victoria is a strong believer of manifestation and believes that everyone creates their own barriers and their own opportunities, as complain and blame games lead nowhere in life. Victoria is of the opinion that an entrepreneurial mindset is a set of skills that enable people to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings. It is a way of thinking that enables every individual to overcome challenges, be decisive, and accept

arena, and shadows her mother. Being in the midst of her development years, she feels that the right attitude of humility, kindness and obedience is the first step to one day hopefully becoming a great leader in her arena. From the greatest rulers to the mere garbage man, everyone has something to teach. As they say it takes a whole village to bring up a child.
responsibility for their outcomes. It is a constant need to improve their skills, learn from their mistakes, and take continuous action on their ideas.
Victoria emphasizes on being aware of self and surroundings. According to her, people around us act as mirror and going deep into managing one’s own emotions, random thoughts, and judgements are key factors. It takes prioritization of time, clarity of thoughts in a timely manner, and being responsible and respectful of other’s needs to maintain a balance.
An Avid Learner & Observer
Constantly Developing
Victoria believes that this great big world is an oyster for today’s generation to be creative yet responsible. She believes that having a strong sense of accepting all types of people with zero expectation gives a good head start to being able to focus on adding value instead of making judgements. Having a keen interest in the arts and business gives her a sure shot advantage. Presently, she is aggressively working on learning all she can and being accommodating to new suggestions and ideas, which helps her in instilling the rules of life and business. She spends a lot of time around key individuals in the business world and diplomatic
Currently, Victoria is working on building herself through small jobs in the media industry by meeting and working with creative minds in the industry. Managing her own development teaches her how to deal with people, negotiate, be responsible and deliver more than what she promises with the right attitude. She is constantly developing herself by fighting her own resistance or defiance.
super-creative.
Victoria opines that there are pros and cons to both establishing a company and building a new one from scratch. With establishing one’s own company, one has no boundaries of what one can try and make mistakes along the way with
what one has great passion for. The disadvantage is that one’s chances of success are in the midst of very high competition. On the other hand scaling an already set business when everything is already set could be easy from the outside. The disadvantage is that one needs to constantly stick to the path and vision set which can curtail the youthful ideas however right or wrong and the risks and stakes are much higher. Social Media is a Powerful Tool Victoria asserts that for today’s generation social media is a powerful tool, as it is a platform where people from all over the world can connect and interact with each other. It has gained a lot of momentum in the past few years. As almost everyone have a smartphone with them, it becomes easier for them to use social networking sites. She is of the belief that everyone will have at least one account in any one of the social media websites. Students are also
using social media extensively. While there is a general perception that students end up wasting lot of time in Social media, it can be used for many benefits. Learning & Networking, Expressing Creativity, Experience Global Exposure, Employment Opportunities, Social Media Marketing are some of the benefits they are gaining. Being fortunate to have travelled to all the continents on the planet has drastically helped Victoria in opening her mind to different races, cultures, lifestyles, religions and way of lives. She is very intrigued and attracted towards the Japanese way of life and can strongly relate to it. Essential Attributes It is quite evident that no one likes to do business with people who are arrogant, selfish, dismissive and egotistic and Victoria believes that any business venture is a reflection of the entrepreneur's personal values, attitudes, and beliefs which were instilled during growing up and is part of the upbringing. Entrepreneurship is not a valuesfree, amoral process. The very act
of starting and building something of significance should require a consideration of values — of combining what is done with how it is done. There’s also a very practical reason for a values-based, morally rigorous view of entrepreneurship. That is usually the only viable way for an entrepreneur to do business in the long run. According to Victoria, some of the essential attributes that every business leader should possess are: Bravery: In recognizing and pursuing an opportunity, an entrepreneur requires bravery. Bravery, which springs from natural creativity and a determined spirit, helps the entrepreneur deal with discouragement and even defeat in the early stages of company formation. Vision: Vision guides the entrepreneur through the business planning process, clarifying the opportunity and setting goals for the organization. It allows the entrepreneur to see past, his or her current position and beyond, and limited resources to more fully
Hard work is doing what one resists and hates and the ability to fight one’s self is what is key to a great successful career and life.
appreciate the potential of the venture. Respect for self and others: Respect for one ’s self and others is essential. It enables every individual to appreciate his or her efforts, relate effectively to family and community, and motivate others. This respect, which stems from pride, hope, and enthusiasm, frees entrepreneurs from the obstacles of low self-esteem, hopelessness, and anger. Trust: Trust is an indispensable part of the marketing effort as the company grows. Trust, which results from reliability, compassion, and gentleness, permits the entrepreneur to overcome mistrust, selfishness, and ruthlessness as the company deals with employees, customers, and vendors. Honesty: An entrepreneur must be honest in financing the company and managing the assets of the firm. Honesty, which emanates from decisiveness in taking risks and making choices, lets the entrepreneur avoid false security and stay calm amid confusing situations. Generosity: In directing the management and operations of a
growing business, an entrepreneur should be generous. Generosity, which develops from supporting and leading others, permits an entrepreneur to eliminate racial bias, reduce resistance to change, and heal dysfunctions within the organization. Fortitude: An entrepreneur requires fortitude to keep a business strong and eventually bring it to harvest. Fortitude, which stems from persistence, realism, and consistency, strengthens the entrepreneur against scattered thinking and giving up Accept it & Progress When asked about the opinion on current landscape of business given that the pandemic has been adversely affecting every industry, Victoria mentions that many situations bring opportunities along with it like more time to reflect & consider, speed and innovation, better and more efficient meetings, modesty & acceptance. Instead of resisting it, one needs to accept and be super creative. Each individual has their own distinct experience, and while some may suffer others may create their own opportunities and shine like a phoenix.
Taking into consideration that event industry is expecting a change due to the new normal and virtual events are on rise, Victoria asserts, “We humans always find a way around to connect and establish our creative ideas. There are changes and we adapt to them understanding the macro impact on mankind. It might slow us for a short period to help us develop other aspects of our ability to create more interactive events.” Being an extremely positive and joyous personality and having the intact ability to enjoy her solitude, this period has helped Victoria better connect with her family and clearly jot out her future goals as individuals and family. Her way of life is going through some interesting times and changes. She plans to do her further studies in the US and is also looking at options in NYC and LA in Business.

t’s really weird when people assume that self-employment isn’t stable. Having a 9 am – 5 pm job usually means having one steady stream of income you can count on, while self-employment and entrepreneurship usually means having 5 or 6 income streams– and often more. That is also one of the most important reasons behind some people choosing to pursue their career in the entrepreneurship. With the same thought process Ankit Kankar, Founder and Managing Director of Eric’s Strategic Media Consulting decided to pursue entrepreneurship as his career. He is pushing the boundaries of existing models to help in shape the organization's strategic, digital and integrated marketing communications to bring purpose driven brand growth in business of biotech and health sciences. In an interview with Insights Success Ankit shares his entrepreneurial journey and about his contribution through Eric’s Strategic Media Consulting for business growth of biotech and health sciences. Below are the highlights of the interview between Ankit Kankar and Insights Success: Why did you choose Entrepreneurship over a regular
9 am - 5 pm job? In our field, our income is earned from a handful of clients and part-time jobs. It is pretty common for me to shuffle through a few new clients each year, but it would be very difficult for me to lose all of my clients at once! That is why I think self-employment is one of the most stable ways to earn a living. Sure, your income might fluctuate, but you can enjoy plenty of job security if you have a handful of diverse income streams. On the other hand, a 9-5 job is easy to lose at any time. Tell us more about your company We are Eric Life, a primarily focused on life science and healthcare marketing and special sector communications agency. We are in the business of Life. We live for the challenge and promise of scientific discovery and medical innovation to transform the lives of people and some animals. We are a tribe of scientists, creatives and marketers who have a shared passion for translating science into programs that deliver more personal and impactful brand experiences, and drive business for our clients. What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur? How did you overcome them to establish yourself and the company? We had faced many challenges in today’s ultra-competitive business

world; fortunately, contemporary times have also blessed us with more resources for tackling those problems than ever before. Perseverance and intelligence are our allies; using them to our advantage to keep working toward our goals. Understand that we are not the first to struggle. Because of that, there are many resources available to help us get through our darkest days as an entrepreneur, so we can reap the immeasurable rewards that come with building our own successful business. How do you lead your company and help it sustain in a competitive environment? People employed by organisations seek and value a sense of purpose as much as those who are at the hierarchical top-end of organisations. Research indicates that employees are increasingly placing a greater importance on feeling a sense of purpose in their workplace as the relationship balance between work values and life values increasingly merge together. People want to feel proud of their work and their part in a greater team effort. When their individual role is clearly aligned to a greater organisational purpose they are prepared to work harder and smarter to achieve the greater cause.
I aspire to be a continual learner and an empathetic leader; I try to ensure I always make time to invest in other people because I am fortunate that people invested in me. When you focus on a narrow target market, you have the best chance to become the leader of that niche. This is especially true when you target a segment that is less vulnerable to substitutes or where the competitive landscape is weak. You can choose the customer segment based on marketing trends, demographics, psychographics, and customer needs. You can also decide on the best types of product and service solutions to sell to this niche. Not surprisingly, some of the world’s most successful companies started out by focusing on narrow target markets. Walmart began by focusing on serving rural towns where larger retailers such as Sears and Kmart did not sell. Amazon started by focusing on consumer book buyers with Internet access. Facebook began as a service for Harvard students. What is that one aspect or emotion that drives you at work or keeps you motivated? Make sure the business/job/any professional activity you select compliments your personal life the

Your thoughts about it and how do you leverage its power for the company? As technology is rapidly growing and everything has become online and to meet this rapidly growing technology everything has to be available on the internet. People started adopting digital marketing instead of marketing offline and social media plays a vital role in promoting online business. Social media enables communication for not only one's personal life but also for business life. E-commerce has become the largest platform for shopping online which not only helps buyers to purchase but also sellers to make business. Businesses have developed due to online advertisements or media sites because they get the word out quicker and faster.
best. Here’s what I believe is sexy at setting up your own work: being strong and committed and confident, being precisely who you are and in hot pursuit of the goals and ideas you believe in so much they captivate and inspire others. As a business leader, what is your opinion on the current landscape of business given that the pandemic has been adversely affecting every industry. COVID-19 has forced businesses of all sizes to reassess their digital transformation plans – (Nimble, fast, and consistent) Setting the stage for digital transformation requires visionary and consistent leadership that works with a clear goal – the “why” of the strategy – in mind.
In today’s business climate, there’s less room for error than ever before. That means it’s essential for enterprise IT leaders to remain nimble and to think fast. Digital transformation has been happening around us – sometimes it’s been slow and steady, and other times (like now), it’s happened faster than we may feel comfortable with. These are unusual times, and they call for us to completely reimagine how we do business. Remember: Adapting is what helped our ancestors survive, and ultimately, we are far better off for it. Social Media is an inseparable part of the daily life of youth.

What are your future endeavours and where do you see yourself in near future? Our future endeavour is to implement Groundbreaking science which shows the right voice to have the greatest impact. We believe creating a transformative customer experience is everything. We’re science geeks with the minds of marketers, and the hearts of storytellers. Everything we do is purposeful: from the people we connect, and the clients we work with, to the way we foster healthy client relationships. Through holistic integrated marketing and targeted communication strategies, we educate, promote understanding, and spur conversations. We want to be a leader in consulting brands in life science, health science and special start-ups in the next span of three years.

Chetan Giri A Guiding Light and a Star
M
umbai is synonymous to dreams. Considered as a city where dreams come true, it is witness to thousands of young men and women who come to it with aspirations. Some of them get fulfilled while some perish without a trace. However, for some, location is not as consequential as the will to work for one’s dream and realise them. Chetan Dasharath Giri started his career in 2014 as an Actor and Owner of ‘CS9 Entertainments’ and is now working as ‘Secretary’ of / Maharashtra state. Through his company and his work, he wants to bust the myth that Mumbai is the de facto city to realise one’s dreams of being an actor. He wants Pune to be the next hub of the film industry turning it into a major hotspot, especially for Marathi Film Industry. Chetan shares his story, struggles and aspirations here. Why did you choose Entrepreneurship over a regular 9-5 job? I don’t believe that 9 to 5 job can alone fulfil all my dreams and all the materialistic things that I have wished. And I don’t feel that I should work for anyone’s dream. I would prefer to work for myself and on my dreams 24 x 7.
Tell us more about your organization.
Mathadhikari, Rohit Ovhal, Prasad Ghodekar, Sameer Tadvi, Sankalp Bhosal. They are all the pillars of the Sanstha. This organisation is registered in Maharashtra government (Registered under Society reg.Act.No 1680, reg No. MH/231/2019Pune).
I started CS9 Entertainments in 2014 amid a hoard of challenges and obstacles. Coming from a middle-class family with no background in movies, there was no one to support me and it was a completely new career stream for me. One of the missions of my company is that I want to make it the biggest entertainment company in Pune.
What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur? How did you overcome them to establish yourself and the company?
The Chitrapat and Natya Sanstha(C&NS) was established to regulate all the operations of the film industry and other relevant processes and activities. Every other day we hear stories of fraudulent activities that lure newcomers and exploit them. Through C&NS, we help the newcomers to get all their money or any kind of help they need. The organisation helps all the actors, producers and all other department associated with this sector to get their problems to resolve. We give them solution and assistance in their bad times or any kind of problems. The team comprises of very talented and experienced personalities in the industry namely Rajesh More, Swanand Dev, Shubham More, Sanjay Bhosale, Yogesh Tanpure, Omkar Pujari, Abhinandan Basutkar, Ravindra
As I said this was a very novel sector for me so the challenges were not few but multiple. The first was getting proper support and guidance. Next was recognizing and staying away from fraudsters. I did fell for one, but thankfully recovered my loss and got to learn a lot of things. Funding was another major issue as I had no financial support. Due to financial crunch and absence of Godfather, I had no one to guide me through the process of becoming an actor. Instead of joining an acting class, I used to go on shoots, look at the actors and learn from the way they used to act, the way they used to present themselves. I understood the nuances hands-on and the journey has been eventful. I have tried to enjoy the process as much as the current success. I believe that the achievements that I have got is one

of the milestones of my dreams but I don’t want to stop over here my dreams are many higher and there a lot of milestones, so I will be working harder and will be consistent and will be one of the brightest star/entrepreneur shining in the ďŹ lm industry.
How do you lead your company and help it sustain in a competitive environment? To sustain in this industry is like grabbing a new order, which is weird if you put it this way, but it is how it is. During or after negotiation sometimes the client may close or may not close, sometimes there are December 2020 | Insightssuccess.in | 25
long chains of futile negotiations. Sometimes the youngsters are high on emotions and get angry due to the delayed processes, and give up. Taking everything in one’s stride and keeping cool through every up and down is very challenging but critical to sustaining in this competitive environment. But apart from this, we are focused on sailing through ups and downs, stay calm and stable, and strive our best to get and reach our shining moment.
As with C&NS, it was established to sort the problems of newcomers like during the pandemic our organisation was engaged in motivating them and also helping other departments persons like producers, make-up artist, writers and composers. We just tried to engage them and keep our circle as friendly and as healthy as possible so we motivate, we navigate and we just make people shine. What is that one aspect or emotion that drives you at work or keeps you motivated? The major source of my energy stems from my childhood passion and dream of becoming a shining star/entrepreneur in the film industry and that one day my production house will be there. This childhood dream is one my primary source of energy which keeps me motivated and sees me through my ups and downs and even bright or depressive periods. And apart from this, there are many stories like people used to say that middle-class boy can’t you know you just can’t enter this line and you just can’t go and be a star, to be honest, I don’t want to make them down or not prove them wrong but still there comes a point where looking at me some other person may feel inspired that yes I can also be a star /Entrepreneur. As a business leader, what is your opinion on the current landscape of business given that the pandemic has been adversely affecting every industry? No road is exciting without a few speed breakers. The journey then becomes boring. Similarly, life is bound to have hurdles. Going through them brings excitement
and joy as well. Same is applied to the pandemic. It has come as a low point in our lives, but one must sustain, survive, overcome this period and shine back or bounce back. Social Media is an inseparable part of the daily life of youth. Your thoughts about it and how do you leverage its power for the company? Yes, so social media is, as everyone knows, a very powerful media. I sometimes feel it to be a bit awkward too because you’re too far and have a very deeper reach. Leveraging a platform that is free of cost and has a deep reach is very drastic. Whenever I post content I generally receive queries and interests regarding auditions or any kind of casting which makes me appreciate the platform and feel happier. I feel social media, when wisely used, can be a boon to me and film industry sector also. We do live sessions for newcomers & we guide properly, we solve all queries that they have, they can interact with us easily & get enough knowledge of this industry What are your future objectives and where do you see yourself in near future?
The Chitrapat and Natya Sanstha has been established to regulate the companies and order operations that are related in the sector. As an organization, we’ll be there to mentor the newcomers and help them navigate through their career. So C&NS will play an important role.
As I said the Moto of our company CS9 Entertainments is to make Pune be the next hub of the industry and specialise in Marathi. But to be honest this can’t be done by a single company but will take a lot more efforts from a lot more companies to do so. We have, however, initiated it by engaging with like-minded people. So yes, we will be doing this.

Beyond the Horizon

ndia has been hit hard by the pandemic with reasons being quite a few, including very glaringly our near-ramshackle health-care system, and an almost immediate and instantaneous lockdown. Close to two months India must stay practically under house-arrest with very, very limited chances to move out irrespective of reasons. In this time, our already-slowing economy practically came to a standstill and if ďŹ gures are to be believed, actually in reverse. Industries including real-estate, facilities, education, manufacturing and production, logistics and

agriculture to an extent, faced the brunt and if specialists are to be believed shall take quite a while to return to the pre-Covid-19 days. Others including software too suffered but in the absence of the need to be present at office, the industry quietly carried on with its existing work from distant locations including employees’ own homes. Some like the field of healthcare seem to have done well given that the whole world wanted to have themselves checked and rechecked to keep the scare of the virus away. Them, and their allied industries such as ambulance providers, PPE kits and mask makers did do brisk business and it does seem that the pandemic was a blessing without the need for a disguise. With the second wave of the pandemic most likely upon us in unseen forms, and India’s public not shying away from not staying home, a lot is likely to happen in the not-so-near future. We take a round of what post-pandemic entrepreneurship may look in India and do that industry-wise. Agriculture The bumper monsoons in 2019 and 2020 have resulted in ample water being available in most parts of India, including the traditionally dry areas of central India and Rajasthan. With water taken care of, it was expected that the outcome would be a bumper harvest. The output for year 2019 was great as the pandemic was yet to hit the Indian shores. If figures (from the Economic Times) are to be believed the second advance estimates for 2019-20 show a record output of 291.95 million tonnes of food-grain which is higher by 6.74 million
tonnes compared to that 2018-19. For fiscal year 2020-21, India targets an output of 298.3 million tonnes which again is higher than the figures of 2019-2020 by an appreciable 6.35 million metric tons. With a background of the covid-19 pandemic, this though a small increment is appreciable when seen from the negatives all the other sectors have shown. India returning to its villages with sizable numbers delaying their returns means there would be more hands to help with processing the produce which even in the present is low in India. With 16% of India’s GDP coming from agriculture, it nice to know that despite the pandemic, this is one sector that still performs, and feeds India. Post-pandemic, things are likely to remain the same, with a sizable number of migrants likely to stay behind in agriculture. Manufacturing With the sector forming a quarter of India’s GDP, manufacturing means a lot to the country which employs every kind of personnel from most skilled to least skilled though in varying numbers. From March 2020 for close to 60 days, all manufacturing and mining came practically to a halt and saw a steep decline of 10.4%. That said, with the lockdown lifted practically entirely (except for practical social distancing), it’s just a question of time before productivity figures match those of the pre-Covid 19 days. What could be the new order post-pandemic could be that those areas in manufacturing that do not directly affect production but remain a cost-centre like offices,
30 | Insightssuccess.in | December 2020
non-essential staff, facilities management could both be outsourced to work from remote locations, including homes and distant suburbs and towns. Presence in urban areas could be drastically curtailed to reflect a “need-to” ideology with bigger chunks going to semi-urban and rural areas. Plant and factories could be given priority with essential staff being either shifted there or somewhere nearby. As a matter of fact, India’s biggest steel maker Tata Steel has implemented a “365-days work from home” under its “Agile” scheme of working. In the present it remains a test case which if found workable, could be extended after a year! Aside from this is the shift in manufacturing towards mechanization and robotization which could completely wipe out employment in parts where high speed and precision are a must. In those, there can’t be any human endeavour which beats or even comes close to robots and machines. Services With a clear majority of the GDP (61%) coming from this sector, its fall has upset a lot of things that India had planned for itself. With close to 40 million losing jobs, and the economy not likely to look up in the near terms, this is one sector that shall see serious action in the post-pandemic entrepreneurship scenario in India. The following trades could see maximum action: • Support industry (specifically housekeeping, maintenance and estate management)
With entire swathes of industries having locked itself down and taken a serious thought at working from remote locations including home, support functions which fed and nourished this industry could go thru a tough, tough time. The changes that can be expected are: • Smaller office set-ups and any of them including shared spaces instead of single offices where the entire staff would operate from • Home-offices which could replicate any standard office which too could call for services like housekeeping and maintenance and give employment though at a much, much watered-down scale. • Travel and transport entities including cab-fleet owners would be badly affected due to a very perceptible drop in demand from the services sector and also tourism. This could, to an extent be made up with leasing of vehicles to individuals instead of the latter buying and incurring long-term costs on them. Vehicles owned by cab-fleets can be expected to enter the cab segment with aggregators instead of staying idle and yet incurring costs. • Fintech industry A combination of banking, finance, insurance, NBFCs and related industries can be expected to bring about the most visible change in the postpandemic entrepreneurship in India with changes including: • Work from home being a norm for a sizable percentage of

employees, something which was unheard before the pandemic With home being in any part of the world, people can be expected to move to smaller towns and suburbs which could de-congest larger towns. This would boost real-estate and services like taxis and facilities in smaller towns, in addition to even the concept of shared spaces Shift to the cloud. Work-fromremote locations can best be facilitated where every system which handles the work is easily and safely accessible to employees. For this reason, companies’ entire working is moving to the cloud with elaborate security systems being put in place to obviate the remotest chance of data being pilfered or played around with Increasing use of AI with the backing of bigdata. Fintech companies are increasingly using AI to assist in those sectors where human interventions are not needed including chatbots and auto-reply services. Even in the case of asking for detailed information, the day is not far when human intervention in fintech could be miniscule. And the day is certainly not far! Use of non-traditional staff! The office always segregated the workers from the non-workers. And it showed. With nothing to “show”, the need for traditional “employees” is undergoing a change. Housewives, retirees, people from the LGBTQ section etc are some who may increasingly fine employment.

• Education India, from Kindergarten to PHD now has the unstinted support of the internet when it comes to education. Making the most of this situation for quite some time are the likes of Byju’s and now to an extent Vedantu, companies which have taken the concept of education to the next level- ably assisted by the scare the pandemic has caused. With schools and colleges physically shut for close to a year, it is the net which acted as the perfect conduit. Going forward, with massive broadband capacities being put in place, education could see a wholesale change in the way it is imparted, especially for those who cannot physically attend classes. In fact, with the coming of 5G in telecom tech in India which in all probability could be in 2021, even technical subjects like engineering and medicines could be taught from remote locations! These by no means are the only changes and additions to post-pandemic entrepreneurship in India. But they most certainly are the most visible ones. In times to come, there could still be more which at the opportune moment we shall bring to you. - M. Purushoutham

What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur? How did you overcome them to establish yourself and the company? My very first challenge is to manage the time. He has won several state level and national level painting awards. He is the Founder of D-zone designers. In an interview with Insights Success, Dinesh shares his entrepreneurial journey. Below are the highlights of the interview: Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a regular 9 am-5 pm job?
I am an artist and I always wanted to make career where I do not have to kill my passion for art because I have witnessed many examples around me who have sacrificed their art for money. In fact, I can take my art onto the next level and make something productive out of it. Hence, I decided that I will not get caged in this 9 to 5 job but work out of these time limits and I started working independently and formed my own venture/company/ entrepreneurial attempt- 'D-zone designers'. Tell us more about your organization. I am basically a sketch artist but when I met my guru Mr. Vinay Joshi in 2015, it was a major turning point of my life. He guided me in every possible medium of this art. Eventually, with daily practice I developed more interest towards watercolour portrait skill. I feel nostalgic thinking about those couple of years when I used to learn from my Guru. In 2017, I had very first exhibition, I feel that was very first feather in my hat. While doing some work of art, sometimes you do not feel that the work you are doing is best or you can do better work, hence you start doing it from scratch. Working on something till I feel satisfied or happy is the major and constant challenge in my life and I feel it is needed too. How do you lead your company and help it sustain in a competitive environment? There are many watercolour artists in the market right now, but I always try to stand out through my art and for that practice is must. I plan on creating films rich in our culture and tradition that can be released on local and international platforms/film festivals. I even plan on creating documentaries and awareness content for orphanages and the lesser privileged, for example we had created a documentary for St. Stephens Church (Bandra) for its 175 years anniversary about its outreach programs and it was even screened in a theatre during the event.

Samar Patel A Passionate Entrepreneur, Nutritionist & Personal Trainer
I
t is often a notion of owning a business and striking out as an entrepreneur accompanied with an urge to do something big that makes most of the employees quit their 9-5 job and start a business. It was the same notion and urge that led Samar Patel quit his job and take the first step towards starting his own business. Samar Patel is the Founder of WOW Travels. He has also written a book on nutrition and fitness. Being an avid traveler, he has traveled to 13 countries. Besides, he is also certified from NESTA and ISSA as a nutritionist and a personal trainer. When he was in a regular 9 - 5 job, Samar didn’t have the desired motivation to work. He was and is an overachiever. He would get appreciation for work there, but the monetary benefits of overachieving were not satisfactory for him. He wanted a structure wherein when he works he will grow, over achieve, and over earn. He knew it was possible only if he channeled this hunger for growth into starting something of his own and thus, decided to quit his job. This was the decision that led to the inception of WOW Travels. Adding Wings to Flying Dreams through Passport With an aim to create a base of
satisfied customers WOW travels was established in 2014. The company started with passport services. It gave its customers the best of its services and more value for their money. Then it started adding value-added products and services and got a good response from existing base and references from them. Its acquisition team kept on adding new relationship and its retention team kept deepening them. The company offered a bouquet of products and services like Election I Card, MSME registration, Adhaar card services, etc. In addition, it also came up with Travel packages. Not only this, the company also started social activities for becoming visible through Billion Dollar Smile Foundation. It kept on building its brand image and grew. The company calls itself professional. It doesn’t see itself as the agents and is known for its excellent services in terms of all legal documents services and passport service as its main focus. Growing Along with the Team Samar mentions that his biggest challenge was to train resources. He wanted his employees to get the idea that they will grow if the organization grew. He had his plans 54 | Insightssuccess.in | December 2020
in place. He overcame the challenge by designing a compensation plan where any achiever will be paid in line with his target and an overachiever will earn more. He addressed those problems that he faced in a 9-5 job and his employees enjoyed working with him. Samar believes that his organization is as good as his people. He invests time in training and motivating his people. He keeps on adding products depending on the demand of the market. He says “I don’t want to die average. I want to grow and I want to increase my Reach. This is what keeps me going.” It’s all about Aligning Strategies Speaking about the current landscape of business given that the pandemic has been adversely affecting every industry, Samar is of the belief that every problem brings in an opportunity. The market is dynamic and it has the inherent capability of bouncing back. He believes that if every entrepreneur realizes this, no business will be adversely affected. It is just that in difficult times one should align his or her strategies in a way conducive to their Business. This way one will then be unstoppable.
I BELIEVE THAT MY ORGANIZATION IS AS GOOD AS MY PEOPLE. I INVEST TIME IN TRAINING AND MOTIVATING MY PEOPLE.

ACCOUNTING FINANCE AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR
T
he importance of accounting in our lives is best highlighted by a story that apparently took place in ancient Egypt. A slave was tasked with carrying a load of mangoes (yes, Egypt too grows mangoes!) from his master’s home to that of an acquaintance. The slave, illiterate and completely without the knowledge of (or need for) accounting and counting took the liberty of consuming a few mangoes en- route thinking no one would observe! Reaching the intended destination, when the recipient asked him to account for the missing mangoes, the poor man, almost talking to himself said ‘the mangoes might have seen me consume some of their friends and told the owner of what took place. Otherwise, how was he to know that I ate a few!’ That, in every sense bring to us the importance of accounting, and of it being integral to our lives. From the day we start to count on our fingers is the day humans start to account for things. Finance enters the picture because accounting for money is one of the latter’s most primary usage. Without accounting, there cannot be finance given that irrespective of quantity, finance is
LIVES
always finite and needs to be accounted for. That brings us to the question: How and why are accounting and finance an integral part of our lives? They are for the following reasons: 1. Resources including finance are finite. Needs on the other hand remain infinite. One needs to prioritize by accounting Other than the open sky, there is nothing infinite in our lives. This is all the more visible in the case of resources like finance where there are limits after which obvious (and sometimes painful) questions are asked. One is left with no option but to account for one’s needs which includes prioritising things in an order and allocating resources including finances to it for its best implementation. 2. Efficiency increases with accounting Be it finance, raw materials or anything that can be counted, efficiency of usage goes up with accounting as one can keep track of usage against needs. In the case of finance, accounting helps by efficient allocation between

competing needs, and also informs of the cost of such financing. An example could be that of accounting for a loan to be taken to purchase an asset. It is only when one wants to pen it on a spreadsheet that the aspect of costing comes to light besides bringing clarity on a range of issues. 3. You cannot communicate if you cannot account Digitization is overtaking everything today. And digitization is all about accounting and communication. Imagine a day or even a minute without accounting and you would know how difficult communication becomes. Accounting, especially in the context of finance is all about communicating information (irrespective of motive though)! 4. Accounting brings accountability and ownership of property and actions What you account for can be owned, be it in terms of property or in terms of action. Houses, property, money, investments and the likes, these can be accounted for and identified in terms of ownership only when one can account for it. Same goes for actions. If you can account for having done an act, it

can be identified with you. Accounting is thus important when it comes to pinning ownership. 5. Accounting and finance show the true value of relations A rather emotional and biased statement, it nevertheless shows how relations too are affected when it is about accounting and finance. It is thus important to keep track of both when it is about relations, and money. Account for finance and everything is happy. If not, there could be loads of bad blood. 6. Accounting brings discipline Accounting, be it for finance or for any other discipline bring in just that - discipline. And it is the seriously disciplined who do well in life and enterprise. Accounting for money, taxes, relations, goods and services bring in a degree of enlightenment that is essential if business has to be kept on track to growth.
