BA (Hons) TEXTILES

Arts University Bournemouth

The work presented in this book demonstrates the enthusiasm, determination and diligence that the students have employed over the past 3 years.

It is a credit to them all, that they have worked to accomplish their final collections throughout the COVID19 pandemic. They are committed to a future in design and have proved this within these pages. Our vision has been to inspire and encourage the individual creative textile designer-maker through the reflection and refinement of their practice, enabling them to position themselves at the forefront of creative design. I believe they have achieved this and more… they have shown great resourcefulness, resilience and ingenuity in the last weeks of their studies.

Our emphasis as a course has been placed upon strong craft and making skills coupled with innovation. We have promoted a broad range of textiles skills: dye, print, stitch, manipulation and digital design, whilst asking the students to focus upon the context and market in which their personalised developments fall. Our focus therefore has been creativity in context, encouraging enterprise, initiative and inquiry in readiness for a career within the breadth of creative textiles, design and innovation.

I hope you enjoy viewing their creativity as much as I have enjoyed being a part of their journey.
