The Role of Motherhood

Played by Women

By Elizabeth Impastato

The role of motherhood for women begins at childhood as young girls receive their first baby doll, learning how to change and dress the doll.

Motherhood is unique because being a mother encompasses so many roles. In this role, women are counselor, cook, doctor, maid, teacher, lawyer and comforter. Women develop a special instinctive skill for knowing when their child needs help, gets hungry, sick or just needs their love. Think of it as super hero powers given to women the first time they hold their newborn baby. This gives mothers the more emotional role in parenting: a tender compassionate side. It has been said, “A mother understands what a child does not say.”

The pivotal role of being a mother is the divine mission assigned to women alone. Women are given the privilege of childbirth, giving life to another human being. The role requires women to carry great responsibility and sacrifice making the balance of all roles important for the wellbeing of family health.

The time that mothers spend with family is treasured.
