WELCOME TO THE 5th EDITION TMN RUGBY YOUTH FESTIVAL 2013 The TMN Portugal Rugby Youth Festival is already established as the best and most international youth rugby festivals for club and school teams in Europe. Its excellent organization and standard of play make this one of the most prestigious rugby tournaments currently available in Europe. The tournament team from staff, sponsors and volunteers are all very proud of what we have achieved so far in the four (4) editions of the tournament. We wish to keep improving every year to make this an
unforgettable experience to all the players who take part in it. To all Portuguese players we hope that they benefit and enjoy the opportunity to play with teams and players from all over the world. To all the foreign players that visit us we want them to have a great time in Lisbon and take the best memories from Portugal and Portuguese people, hoping that they will come back on day in the future. The TMN Portugal Rugby Youth Festival was made to be a meeting point for young players from many parts of the world.
Rugby is the common element and the language that we all understand. Regardless of each team goal when starting the competition all are welcome in Portugal. MESSAGES OF SUPPORT IN 2012 I would like to first welcome all the teams and participants to the Oeiras council. It is with great delight that we support this initiative and international event once again. In its previous editions the Portugal Rugby Festival promoted not only sport and rugby but also the tourism in our region in great style. We truly believe in events such as this that invest in our youth and promote the region of Oeiras in such a positive way.

In a particular difficult year for Portugal in general it is with great satisfaction that we have managed to put together all the necessary conditions to hold the 4th edition of the Moche/Meo Portugal Rugby Festival. Rugby has taught us that with a lot of persistence and support from our sponsors and partners, that this event is now a reality. We hope to keep holding the tournament for many more years as we truly believe in its concept and contribution to the development and promotion of youth rugby in our country. This year we will also have for the first time ever a girls rugby competition in the event. With this initiative we wish to launch girls rugby in the festival to hopefully have next year a youth girls competition with the participation from teams from other countries as well. PASSION FOR THE SPORT The passion for rugby is the key reason to take part in a event such as this. More than 300! rugby matches in only 2 days. It is an impressive figure that requires great effort in terms of logistics and general organization. Normally it works out well, in fact it has always worked out well! A total of 7 grass rugby pitches, including the Jamor Sports Complex National Stadium, make Jamor a theatre of dreams for so many young
rugby players. More and more foreign teams every year wish to take part in the event. We are confident that soon about half of teams taking part in the event will be coming from abroad. However we will always keep a minimum number of places guaranteed for the Portuguese clubs. One of the main goals of the event is also to contribute for the development of the game in Portugal and the participation of Portuguese
rugby clubs in this tournament will surely help achieving this. The referees many times forgotten, until they make a mistake…are essential in rugby. To the teams and all players we ask them to always respect the referees. Without the referees we would not have this magnificent tournament!
PORTUGAL & LISBON TOURNAMENT FACILITIES
Lisbon, and in particular the Jamor Valley, offers unparallel conditions for sports teams camps & tours. Many sports teams and athletes travel to Portugal for warm weather camps and this is one of the most preferred sites as it provides excellent sporting facilities for rugby, football, swimming, running and many other sports activities. For the Portugal Rugby Youth Festival it will include 5 grass pitches including one of the country´s most emblematic stadiums, where the Portugal National Football Cup is held every year and more famously in the United Kingdom because of the historic win from the Celtic Team in the European Cup on 1967 against the Inter Milan team.
WEATHER
Portugal & Lisbon are blessed with glorious sunny days for most time of the year. This area is planted very close to sea front area with its beautiful beaches. After matches you can include a trip to the beach and enjoy a perfect day of rugby with a swim in the Atlantic waters.
CULTURE
The cultural scene in Lisbon today is a vibrant combination of old and new, as the ghosts of Lisbon's grand past echo evocatively around the city's contemporary venues. Lisbon offers a formidable number of venues and companies can often be found performing in a wide variety of sites, such as outdoor parks and national palaces.
MODERNTY
The heart of Lisbon is filled with wide avenues, green trees, modernist-style buildings, mosaic decorations and numerous cafes. The city is now being reborn and renovated. After many years of standstill and passiveness, nowadays its modern, lively, energetic and cosmopolitan atmosphere reminds of the times when Lisbon was the trade centre and the starting point for many sea expeditions.
FRIENDLYNESS
Portugal is an exceedingly friendly place. Its people are some of the nicest around to visiting tourists and truly have pleasure and enjoy in being good hosts. Most locals will speak to you in perfect English, without any visible annoyance, even with pleasure!

The city of Lisbon has a fantastic atmosphere. There is always anything to do when are in Lisbon. A must see for anyone who wants to experience southern European lifestyle at its best.
EASY ACCESS
Lisbon is only 2 hours away from many European cities and there are now many low cost flight connections to the city main airport. The tournament venue is located 20minutes from the Lisbon International Airport.
AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS!
2013 FESTIVAL PROGRAMME ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
The teams arrive in Lisbon on Friday May 03. There will be an opening event for all team officials, referees, sponsors and organization in a local hotel. First round & preliminary matches start Saturday morning. All finals will be played Sunday. There will be a trophy presentation ceremony for all teams and players to attend. The organization will coordinate and make all travel arrangements for foreign teams arriving by air at the Lisbon International Airport. Teams arriving by coach or train should make their way to the accommodation site on Friday and will be assisted on arrival by its own Team Liaison for the whole period of stay. Monday 06 May will see all visiting teams departing from Lisbon International Airport.
FOOD & DRINK
The Portugal Rugby Youth Festival organization will provide all participants with healthy food and drinks at the accommodation sites. Breakfast and dinner are served on buffet style and dinner is always a warm meal. Lunch is not included in the festival package but it can be purchased at the playing venue. The lunch menu including main course, desert and 1 drink at the event restaurant costs 9 euros per person. Foreign teams travelling to Lisbon and wishing to include lunch at the event restaurant are recommended to book this in advance. This will permit your team to reserve tables in between games avoiding any delays in your team arrangements before playing.
FESTIVAL & ENTERTAINMENT
We emphasize the friendly get together between youngsters of different nationalities and cultures. Every year we host a trophy ceremony presentation for everyone to attend. Once again the coaches corner tent will be available for team officials, coaches, referees and other adult guests to enjoy their free time in the festival.
PRIZES
- All participants will have their own team photo taken at festival. - All participant players will receive a festival tshirt. - There are cups for the winner and runners up in all 4 age level competition. - There will be a Player of The Tournament in all 4 Age Levels.
THE TOURNAMENT FORMAT The tournament format of Portugal Rugby Youth Festival 2013 secures all teams competitive matches and the chance to play international opponents. The tournament will be played according to the regulations of the IRB Youth Rugby Rules and the Portuguese Football Federation and is open to any clubs, which are members of a rugby association that is registered with the IRB. In the first day of the competition, 04 May, Saturday, every team will play 3 to 4 matches. The play-off groups and finals will be played on the 05 May, Sunday. The tournament organization reserves the right (if needed) to make adjustments to the tournament format to guarantee that every team plays the same number of rugby matches.

This years competition format will be similar to previous editions with Saturday round robin system with 4 groups of 4 teams. On Sunday (05 May) the play-offs and finals will take place. All teams regardless of their results will be guaranteed the same number of rugby matches.
ACCOMMODATION All our tournament packages include accommodation for players & team officials at holiday parks, youth hostels and hotels in Lisbon within easy and quick access to the the festival area. It is our goal that every team stays well & comfortably accommodated at the cheapest possible price. There will be
security at all accommodation sites and each team will have its own team liaison 24h per day during the entire period of stay for any kind of assistance. Bath and toilet facilities at the accommodation sites and festival centre are of good quality.
FESTIVAL PACKAGES We like to keep it simple. The only thing you have to take care of is how to travel to Lisbon, Portugal. All the rest is well packed in our rugby festival packages for you. We are looking forward to providing you the best assistance during your stay in Portugal. We recommend that teams travelling from abroad to Lisbon request the assistance of a local travel agent at home to assist with all travel arrangements including flights.
