What are your favourite national parks to visit in South Africa?
Kruger and the surrounding private reserves offer fantastic game viewing. While sightings can never be guaranteed, I have seen the Big 5 in this region many times. It is one of the more reliable locations to see white rhino, lion and the elusive leopard, plus lots of other species including giraffe, hippos, hyenas. If you are lucky, the beautiful though endangered African Wild Dog inhabits this area and is a very special treat to see as they are very active and fun to observe.
What do you wish you knew before you visited South Africa?
Travelling in winter, June to August, can be quite cold— be sure to pack warm clothes, especially for those early morning game drives.
