MARKS CORNER We are over the half way point of Winter and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Soon enough the smell of Spring will be in the air and many will be vigorously working on their Summer bodies. You may have noticed we have been listening to your requests and are including as much knowledge on healthy eating as possible in our recent newsletters and also on a consistent basis on our Facebook page. Additionally one of our expert trainers at Mt Warren Kelly Pillinger has just completed a FREE seminar for all members called “The Road to Sustainable Weight Loss”, which was a hit. If living a healthy life, shedding that unwanted weight or maintaining a healthy weight is part of your goals then ensure you not only read our healthy eating tips/suggestions but more importantly put them into action. AUGUST MEMBERS OF THE MONTH Best friends Amy and Tarryn Staff at Logan Metro chose Amy and Tarryn as the Insports member of the month because of their dedication to their goals. Amy joined Insports in Feb 2013 and it wasn’t long before she recruited her best friend Tarryn to come and join her. For a year they tried different exercises and routines but they just weren’t achieving the goals they had set for themselves. Tarryn would like to gain 10Kg’s and Amy would like to get leaner and gain definition. No it’s not a typo, whilst most women would like to lose weight Tarryn would like to strengthen up and add 10kg’s to her petite frame. So in May 2014 they recruited the expertise of one of our Insports personal trainers, Greg. Greg see’s the girls a couple of times a week and they endure what ever he dishes up to them. They say it’s not always easy but it’s certainly worth it. They are starting to feel stronger and can notice the difference. They can now do sit ups and push ups. They say they love Gregs support because; “He motivates us, pushes us a lot harder than we’d push ourselves and he’s not too mean. The only downfall is that he doesn’t relate to our pain. Actually I’m sure he does, but he just tells us to keep going when we say it’s too hard”. RECIPE OF THE MONTH Healthy Lamb Burgers Ingredients • • • • • • • • • •

3 large red onions, halved, thinly sliced 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 tablespoon brown sugar 4 (100g each) trim lamb leg steaks olive oil cooking spray 4 small bread rolls, halved, toasted 2 tablespoons low-fat hommus 30g baby spinach leaves 2 tomatoes, sliced 225g can beetroot, drained

Method Step 1 Combine onions and oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover. Microwave on HIGH (100%) power for 3 minutes. Preheat barbecue grill and plate on medium-high. Step 2 Cook onions on barbecue plate, stirring, for 5 minutes. Stir sugar into onions. Cook a further 3 minutes. Step 3 Spray both sides of steaks with oil. Season. Cook on barbecue grill for 3 minutes each side. Remove to a plate. Step 4 Spread rolls with hommus. Add spinach, tomatoes, beetroot, steaks, onions and bread tops. Serve.
