Remote working
• Remote working is a type of flexible working.
• If the employee works remotely on a formal arrangement, it should be written in their contract or a written arrangement document is produced.
• Informal and ad-hoc arrangements are not required to be written in the contract, but should be regularly reviewed.
• Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers are responsible for carrying out a risk assessment of the employee’s working environment.
• If the employee works predominantly on a client’s site, the contract between the company and the client should include health and safety arrangements and responsibilities.
