The Cockrell Center for Advanced Therapeutics also has offices throughout the greater Houston area to support clinical trials closer to study participants’ homes or workplaces.

Clinical Research Services Goals The team provides new and experienced investigators with staff resources to maximize Houston Methodist’s ability to conduct innovative clinical research. The goals are to:
The Cockrell Clinical Trial Centers and the Academic Office of Clinical Trials (AOCT) promote and support clinical research operations throughout Houston Methodist. The centers provide leadership for clinical research operations and offer core services to support Houston Methodist investigators, including regulatory and project management, budget development, a research unit and additional community-based facilities. Additionally, the Academic Office of Clinical Trials provides fee-forservice research, nursing and administrative support, as well as a Clinical Trial Management System that features a calendar, budget and milestones for all clinical trials at Houston Methodist.
• P rovide investigators with experienced research nurses, coordinators and regulatory personnel to support internally and externally sponsored clinical research
• S erve as a liaison between investigators and industry sponsors
• P romote the growth and development of staff coordinating clinical trials system wide.

Phase 1 Clinical Research Unit The Phase 1 Clinical Research Unit is staffed by highly skilled and experienced professionals trained to conduct early phase clinical trials involving advanced pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic evaluations. The Phase 1 Unit also serves as the store-front for health professionals seeking assistance with translational medical research associated with state-of-the-art precision medicine.

The five-bed unit includes exam rooms, private infusion rooms and a laboratory specimen processing area. The unit is conveniently located for inpatient studies, adjacent to a radiology facility dedicated to clinical trials. Our research nursing and coordinating services ensure comprehensive care in the world-renowned Methodist Hospital System.
