Rigid
foam board insulation is considered one of the most effective insulation techniques due to its higher R-value. It works as a thermal resistor that prevent the entry & exit of the air in your home. These are formed by different synthesizing processes and very handy when large areas need to be insulated. These are strong and durable, that's why used to insulate roofs, walls, foundations, tanks, etc. It comes with an assurance that your place will remain warm and comfortable for years to come.
The Types of Rigid Foam Boards : R-Max Rigid Foam Insulation Board is available in many types depending on the synthesis method and chemical composition. Common examples are polyiso foam board, molded expanded polystyrene, and polyurethane foam board.
Polyiso : The polyisocyanurate is composed of the highest form of R-values. The padding is available in a large variety of compressive strengths. The durability of the tool offers resistance to deformation while not loosing its original shape. Molded expanded polystyrene : This type is more gaseous in nature and the density is set to be 1.5 pounds/cubic foot. It is quite expensive due to its higher R-value and the density it acquires.
Polyurethane : It is made of polystyrene. It is rolled and used in the everyday equipments and products such as picnic coolers and coffee mugs. It contains liquid pentane mixed with a blowing agent work with an extreme heat and pressure conditions. It is quite easy to install. No stapling is required in case of sheets. Generally glue or nails are enough to affix the boards in place. It means you could do this by yourself and save a lot on the labor costs. But, you need to make sure that the insulation material is protected from the direct sun rays. You can also add moisture diffusion retarders to the rigid foam board insulation in-order to keep humidity related issues like insects and mold at bay.
