Young brokers give back in Cobargo

Past and present winners of the Vero-sponsored NIBA Warren Tickle Memorial Award undertook a fourday “Road to Cobargo” expedition to give back to the small NSW town of less than 800 after it was struck by devastating bushfire and floods. Vero, which has sponsored the award for over 30 years, contributed around $35,000 of a total $46,000 presented by the young brokers to Cobargo. The charitable expeditions will now feature annually, Vero Head of Intermediated Distribution Anthony Pagano tells Insurance News, and in spring a group will head to Northampton, located 480km north of Perth and hit by tropical cyclone Seroja early last year. The towns are chosen by the young award winners and this year’s crop of state finalists, to be selected in coming weeks, will soon select a community for the 2023 excursion – with flood-hit towns in NSW and Queensland likely candidates. “They will have to work among themselves to decide which is the one to pitch to Vero. It is really driven by the YPs. That is the best part – they drive it and we just facilitate,” Mr Pagano said. “It is one of the highlights of the calendar year, that we can make this influence and change through the efforts of our young brokers, facilitated through our financial support and guidance that we provide through the program.” 0
