Video Surveillance The use of video surveillance is growing rapidly around the world as more cities become industrialised and expand in footprint, the population increases, as do the security requirements due to rising crime and terrorism. Significantly, the technology and installation costs of video surveillance has been falling for several years, enabling businesses and consumers to install CCTV in places of work and at home, in addition to being used in exterior locations and on transportation systems.
Hard drives are now being replaced by SSD as the new storage format standard for video footage. SSDs offer faster access to the recorded footage, video frame rate can be superior to HDD thanks to superior read/write. SSDs are easier to configure in RAID to ensure a safe backup process and they offer much lower power consumption, which will bring significant savings as this sector often operates 24/7. Endurance and reliability are key requirements that Integral memory can meet. Form factors including 2.5” SATA SSD, M.2 SATA SSDs and mSATA (MO300) SSDs are ideal for use in the video surveillance sector. Integral can provide SSD drives with up to 8TB of storage. These large capacity SSDs are ideal for video surveillance footage storage with its demanding storage requirements.

Communication and Energy Downtime of computers and machinery due to memory storage issues would have serious consequences in power generation facilities. Therefore, memory must be of high performance and durability to avoid and minimise problems. Like energy and the vital connection to the power grid, communication networks are also essential to daily life. These systems need to be both resilient and durable, as transmission links are often located in remote places and in harsh environmental conditions. Consumers are demanding faster streaming, higher resolution picture and cinema-like sound, pushing the need for modern communication networks to handle greater amounts of data than ever before. So in addition to reliability and endurance in challenging environments, data transfer speed, storage capacity and storage size are vital. As we become more interconnected and mobile, products need the ability to operate at low power, have a rugged nature and have these features packaged in a small form factor. Integral memory solutions come in an assortment of form factors to suit different kinds of devices and equipment, including eMMC, microSD, SD, M.2 SSD, mSATA (MO300) SSD and Half Slim SATA SSD (MO297) and 2.5” SATA SSD. 10

Product Feature Glossary Sudden Power Off Protection Data written to the primary block of the card is mirrored into a secondary block in case of sudden power loss. Once power is restored, the pages of the two blocks are ECC checked and good data from both is written to a third block that then becomes the primary block. Sudden power changes or complete loss of power is common in automotive applications and this feature protects against the loss of data in these events. SD microSD eMMC
Pseudo SLC specialist firmware Pseudo SLC firmware is used with MLC NAND flash to mimic and operate like an SLC product. By applying specialist coding techniques, we are able to extend the endurance of MLC chip, and boost the performance. Overall, pseudo SLC performs similarly to SLC but is much more cost effective. CF

Embedded Mode Embedded mode is a function specially designed for operating systems that do not utilize the FAT format as their native file system. This is commonly found in automotive vehicles where Windows is not the primary operating system. Linux or a proprietary OS may not allow the wear levelling tool on the memory card to operate as normal. With Integral’s embedded mode activated, our memory cards can operate efficiently, keeping block usage SD microSD even, throughout the card’s life cycle.
TRIM Trimming enables the SSD to more efficiently handle ‘garbage’ collection, which would otherwise slow future write operations. With the TRIM command, the operating system can inform the SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be removed permanently. CFast

Over-Provisioning* Over-Provisioning refers to the inclusion of extra capacity in an SSD and CFast card, which is not visible and cannot be used by the hardware the SSD/CFast is installed in. This extra hidden memory provides the controller additional space to manage P/E cycles, which enhances performance and IOPS as well as reliability and endurance. CFast
