The square is one of the most important heritage sites in the city, which marks the Malaysia’s independence from the British colonial rule on 31st August 1957. A 100m high flagpole is located in the square and proudly flies the Malaysian flag, which is also known as one of the tallest poles in the world. A Blue Waterfront in KL 吉隆坡的蓝溪川 In Jan 2019, the River of Life (ROL) named blue pool has been listed in world’s top 10 Waterfront Districts by The Independent, United Kingdom’s online news portal. Equipped with a Dancing Symphony Fountain, Blue Corridor, fog and lighting effects, the Blue Pool enhances the focal point of the historic Jamek Mosque and offers visitors a stunning visual and sensory experience.
