Introduction
contents
OLYMPIAN GOLD
BLE has always been a whirl of activity because of its two-day timeframe. The atmosphere, while friendly, was busy and buzzy, with everyone trying to pack in as much as possible. An extra day will surely mean a more relaxed atmosphere.
IT MAY SEEM like only yesterday since the industry was gathered in Las Vegas for Licensing International. In truth, it’s three months, and in less than four weeks time, we’ll be heading to West London for Brand Licensing Europe. This year’s show is on course to the biggest yet. After numerous discussions with key exhibitors and visitors, Advanstar added a third day earlier this year, and it will be interesting to see how this changes the dynamic on the showfloor. Because of its previous twoday timeframe, BLE has always been a whirl of activity. The atmosphere, while friendly, was busy and buzzy, with everyone trying to pack in as much as possible. An extra day will surely mean a more relaxed atmosphere, for which many may be grateful. To go with the extra day, there are more exhibitors to see. A number of high profile names are returning to the showfloor after several years away. The return of CPLG after six years will mean that clients including Dreamworks Animation and Sesame Workshop will have a presence, while Hasbro Entertainment & Licensing will be running through its plans for its many franchises. Other newcomers include the likes of Paramount, Saban Brands, Iconix Europe, DC Thomson, Hallmark, Skechers and Ultimate Fighting Championship to name just a few, meaning the showfloor will have a much more varied feel than ever before. This is the second consecutive year that we’ve put together a dedicated online preview for the show. It’s not officially endorsed, and doesn’t cover every single exhibitor, although we have aimed to give visitors a guide to as wide a range as possible of which firms will be on the showfloor and what they’ll be showing. We’ve also included essential info on the seminars and screening suite details. I hope you find it useful - please do let me, or one of the Licensing.biz team, know of any feedback into how we can improve it for next year (or if you have any comments on the site itself) by popping along to stand CO38 at the show.
