Caro(a) convidado(a),

Dear guest,

Muito obrigada pela sua presença em nossa Reunião Anual. Entre os resultados demonstrados neste evento, apresentamos com felicidade a nova turma de bolsistas 2008 ano em que tivemos a maior seleção realizada ao longo desses 17 anos da Fundação Estudar. 38 novos bolsistas foram aprovados. Recebemos mais de 6 mil inscrições e, dessas, 4.495 foram para programas de graduação e 1.665 para programas de pós-graduação. Esses números representam um aumento de mais de 400% em relação ao ano de 2007, quando o total de inscrições foi de 1.521.

Thank you very much for being at our Annual Meeting. Among all outcomes shown during this event, we are glad to introduce you the new 2008 scholars team Year in which we had the largest selection process done along those 17 years of Fundação Estudar. 38 new scholars were selected. We received over 6 thousand applications being 4,495 for undergraduate programs and 1,665 for graduate programs. These numbers represent an increasing greater than 400% over the year of 2007, when the total of scholar was 1,521.

A seleção da Fundação Estudar é totalmente baseada em mérito. Neste material, compartilhamos com você um pouco da história de cada novo bolsista. Ao longo da leitura, será possível perceber o porquê da escolha desses jovens. A Fundação tem a desafiadora (e estimulante) missão de apoiar o desenvolvimento desses potenciais líderes e ajudar a melhorar o Brasil, tornando-o um país mais justo e produtivo.

The selection process of Fundação Estudar is totally based on the applicants' merit. In this brochure we share with you a little of the history of each new scholar. Throughout this reading it will be noticeable the reasons why those young people were the chosen ones. Fundação Estudar has the challenging (and exciting) mission of supporting the development of such potential leaders and helping to enhance Brazil, turning it into a more productive and fair country.

Alfredo Sandes Sampaio, 19 Engenharia Eletrônica | Electronic Engineering ITA Alfredo é natural de Aracaju (SE). Concluiu o Ensino Médio em São José dos Campos, a convite do colégio Poliedro e, neste período, estudou inglês e espanhol e foi campeão nas Olimpíadas Brasileiras de Física e Astronomia entre os anos de 2003 e 2005, tendo obtido medalhas de Ouro e Prata. Alfredo prestou os vestibulares de Engenharia para o Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME), Instituto Tecnologia Aeronáutica (ITA), Universidade Federal do Sergipe (UFSE) e Academia da Força Aérea. Foi aprovado em todas elas, sendo o 1º. lugar no IME e o 1º. lugar geral por três anos consecutivos na UFSE.

Alfredo was born in Aracaju (SE). He completed high school in São José dos Campos, as an invitation from the Colégio Poliedro. Throughout this period he studied English and Spanish and was also the champion at the Astronomy and Physics Brazilian Olympics from 2003 to 2005 obtaining gold and silver medals. Alfredo applied for Engineering at the Military Engineering Institute (IME), the Aeronautical Technology Institute (ITA), the Federal University of Sergipe (UFSE) and the Air Force Academy. He was accepted at all of them, being the 1st on IME and also the 1st overall for three consecutive years at UFSE.

Escolheu o ITA e lá estuda desde 2006. Tem menções honrosas por desempenho acadêmico nos departamentos de Matemática, Física e Humanidades e CR acumulado de 9.2. Também estuda chinês há dois anos. No início de 2006, Alfredo desenvolveu um software para uso dinâmico em aulas de Física na rede pública escolar de São José dos Campos. Também ministra palestras anuais e dá aconselhamento aos alunos do colégio em que estudou. Participou da ITAndroids grupo de estudos, pesquisa e competições em Robótica e foi Secretário do Conselho Discente do ITA no Centro Acadêmico Santos Dumont (CASD). Atualmente desenvolve um projeto inicialmente concebido no MIT, que trata de avaliar a Complexidade Cognitiva no Controle do Espaço Aéreo. He has chosen ITA and has been studying there since 2006. He has academic honors for development on the Math, Physics and the Humanitarian Fields and a CR accumulated score of 9.2. In addition he has been studying Chinese for two years. In the early 2006 Alfredo developed a software for dynamic purposes for Physics classes on the public schools of São José dos Campos. He also delivers annual lectures and advises the high school students from where he has studied. He has participated on the ITAndroids a studying group that performs Robotics researches and competitions. He was also the Secretary of the Students' Council at ITA on the Santos Dumont Academic Center (CASD). He is currently developing a project initially conceived at MIT, which seeks to evaluate the Cognitive Complexity on the Air Space Control.

Eduardo Riedlinger M Bordalo, 21 Engenharia de Produção | Production Engineering UFRJ - Intercâmbio para | exchange student at École Centrale de Paris Eduardo é carioca e sempre viveu no Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Cursou o Ensino Fundamental e Médio no Colégio de São Bento. Em 2004, após um período de preparo para os exames vestibulares, ingressou direto nas faculdades de Engenharia federais e estaduais para as quais prestou: UFRJ, UERJ e UNICAMP. Entrou na UFRJ no início de 2005 e lá também estuda francês. Em 2006, concluiu um curso de Excel Avançado e uma iniciação científica sobre modelos na cadeia de suprimentos da Petrobrás, vinculada ao Grupo de Produção Integrada (GPI) da UFRJ. No início desse ano, foi um dos cinco aprovados da universidade para o programa de duplo diploma da instituição com as Écoles Centrales da França. Eduardo was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). He did primary and high school at Colégio São Bento. In 2004 after a year of preparation for the university admission exams he entered straight on the federal and state Engineering universities of which he applied for: UFRJ, UERJ and UNICAMP. He started at UFRJ at the beginning of 2005 and there also studied French. In 2006 he completed the Advanced Excel course and a basic scientific research about the models of the supply chain for Petrobrás, associated to the Integrated Production Group (GPI) of UFRJ. At the beginning of this year he was one of the five ones approved from the university for the Double Diploma Program from the institution with the Écoles Centrales da França

Desde 2007, Eduardo estagia na Visagio, consultoria carioca de processos e sistemas. Pela Visagio, esteve envolvido em projetos de desenvolvimento de ferramentas em sistemas para suportar processos da Vale e atualmente está envolvido na equipe que desenvolve um sistema para a compra de álcool na Shell. Since 2007, Eduardo is a trainee at Visagio, a consulting company from Rio de Janeiro specialized on processes and systems. Through Visagio he has been involved on systems and tools development projects to support Vale's processes and is currently involved on the team that develops a system for alcohol purchase for Shell.

Fabio Luiz Guido, 24 Relações Internacionais | International Affairs Fundação Escola de Comércio FECAP Fábio nasceu e sempre viveu em São Paulo (SP). Do Ensino Fundamental até o 1º. ano do Ensino Médio, estudou em colégio público e, no 2º. ano, ingressou no Curso Técnico em Publicidade no Colégio Modelo. Fez também cursos de teatro, inglês e informática. Ao fim do Ensino Médio, passou um ano trabalhando e pesquisando futuras profissões e carreiras. Descobriu a Engenharia Ambiental e, em 2002, prestou vestibular para a Universidade São Marcos, em São Paulo. Foi aprovado e conseguiu, por meio da empresa em que trabalhava, uma bolsa de 70%. Desde o final do curso de Engenharia Ambiental, passou a se interessar por Relações Internacionais, especialmente por temas ligados a Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Em 2007, prestou vestibular na FECAP, onde foi aprovado aprovado em 1º. lugar.

Fábio was born and has always lived in São Paulo (SP). Since primary school until the 1st year of high school he studied at a public school and at the 11th grade he started the Advertising Technician Course at Colégio Modelo. He has also taken Drama, English and informatics. At the end of the high school, he spent a year working and studying possible future professions and careers. He has found out that it was the Environmental Engineering and in 2002 he applied for the University of São Carlos in São Paulo. He was approved and got a 70% bursary through the company he was working for. Since he finished the Environmental Engineering course he started to get interested on International Affairs and especially for issues related to Sustainable Development. In 2007 he applied for FECAP were he was approved in 1st place.

Fábio começou a trabalhar aos 14 anos, por iniciativa própria, com o objetivo de ingressar em um colégio particular no Ensino Médio. Iniciou como office boy na Coel Controles Elétricos empresa do ramo de automação industrial. Como voluntário, participou de um projeto de Alfabetização de Adultos promovido pelo Colégio Modelo e esteve à frente de uma simulação em grupo sobre o funcionamento de uma empresa real no colégio. Na faculdade de Engenharia Ambiental, participou do Programa Universitário na Comunidade, realizado pelo SEBRAE e pela SABESP, na região de Santa Cruz, periferia de São Paulo. O Programa visava à inclusão social e educação profissionalizante e para saúde de famílias de baixa renda vindas do Nordeste e Norte do país. Também envolveu-se em um projeto social de resgate da sabedoria e da cultura dos índios KruKutus na região de Parelheiros, periferia de São Paulo, projeto vencedor do prêmio UNISOL Universidade Solidária. No final da faculdade, Fábio foi indicado para participar do programa de treinamento "Juventude pela Paz", promovido pela ONU em São Paulo. O programa é exclusivo para diplomatas, reitores de universidades e professores, e ele foi exepcionalmente indicado, jutamente com outros quatro estudantes universitários de São Paulo. Fábio started to work when He was 14 by his own initiative, aiming to enter in a private high school. He started as a gofer at Coel Controles Elétricos which is a company on the industrial automation field. As a volunteer he participated on a project for Adults Literacy promoted by the Colégio Modelo and was the head of a group simulation about the real running of a company inside the school. At the Environmental Engineering College he participated on the University Program in the Community done by SEBRAE and also by SABESP on the Santa Cruz region on the suburbs of São Paulo. The program seeks the social inclusion and professional vocational education and also health care for the low income families coming from the Northeast and the North of the country. He was also involved on a social project aiming to rescue the culture and knowledge of the KruKutus indigenous people in the Parelheiros region on the suburbs of São Paulo, this project was the UNISOL Solidarity University prize winner. At the end of the college Fabio was indicated to participate on the “Youth for the Peace” training program promoted by the UN in São Paulo. This is a program restricted for diplomats, university rectors and professors but he was exceptionally indicated together with four other university students of São Paulo.

Fernanda Muzzio Almirão, 22 Engenharia Civil |Civil Engineering ITA Fernanda nasceu em São José dos Campos (SP). Morou também em Belo Horizonte (MG) e no Rio de Janeiro (RJ). No Ensino Médio, estudou no Colégio Bahiense e no Colégio Pentágono. Simultâneamente ao terceiro ano, cursou o pré-vestibular preparatório para o ITA, seu principal objetivo. Ingressou direto em Engenharia Mecânica na UFRJ e, em 2004, foi aprovada no IME e no ITA, cursando o ITA desde 2005. Fernanda was born in São José dos Campos (SP). She has also lived in Belo Horizonte (MG) and in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). During her high school she studied at Colégio Bahiense and at Colégio Pentágono. At the same time as her high school 12th grade she took a preparatory course for the ITA admission exams, which was her first aim. She was admitted straight in Mechanical Engineering at UFRJ and in 2004 she was admitted at IME and ITA where she has been studying since 2005.

Trabalhou por três meses como pesquisadora no Laboratório de Automação do Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), desenvolvendo interfaces para um time de operadores de aviões em projeto patrocinado pela Boeing. Em 2005, Fernanda se tornou membro do CASD Vest, curso pré-vestibular comunitário mantido pelos alunos do ITA. Atuou por dois anos na instituição e no último ano foi Diretora de Marketing, responsável por captação de recursos, parcerias e pela divulgação do programa. Em 2005, Fernanda também deu aulas voluntárias de Matemática para alunos da região de São José dos Campos, que se preparavam para o exame de admissão no Colégio da Embraer. Em 2009, ano de sua formatura, ela trabalhará por seis meses como pesquisadora na Universidade Joseph Fourier, em Grenoble, França onde fará seu trabalho de graduação. She worked for three months as a researcher at the Massachusetts University Technology (MIT) Automation Lab where she has developed interfaces for an airplane operator's team at a project sponsored by Boeing. In 2005 Fernanda became a member of CASD Vest, a communitarian preparatory course for universities admission exams maintained by the ITA students. She worked for two years at this institution and in the last year she became the Marketing Director who was responsible for fund raising, partnerships and also for the program broadcast. In this same year Fernanda also taught Mathematics as a volunteer for the students of São José dos Campos that were getting prepared for the Colégio Embraer admission exam. In 2009, year in which she will get her diploma, she is going to work for six months as a researcher at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France where she is going get her undergraduate project done.

Flávio Montini, 19 Engenharia Aeronáutica |Aeronautical Engineering ITA Flávio nasceu em Porto Alegre (RS) e mudou-se para São José dos Campos (SP) para cursar a faculdade. O bolsista cursou o Ensino Médio no Colégio Militar de Porto Alegre. No Colégio Militar, concluiu o curso como primeiro aluno de sua série e recebeu o Prêmio Diretoria de Ensino Preparatório e Assistencial (DEPA) e a Medalha de Honra ao Mérito Marechal Luiz Osório por desempenho acadêmico. É membro da Legião de Honra do Colégio Militar de Porto Alegre. Neste período, envolveu-se também com esportes como natação, esgrima e basquete e foi membro do Clube de Astronomia do Colégio. Foi também medalhista nas Olimpíadas Brasileiras de Física (Prata) e de Astronomia (Ouro). Ao fim do Colégio, prestou vestibulares de Engenharia (ITA, IME, UNICAMP, UFRGS e Academia da Força Aérea). Foi aprovado em todas e optou por cursar o ITA, em 2006. Concluiu os dois primeiros anos da faculdade com menção honrosa por desempenho acadêmico e mantém sua média geral acumulada em 9.6.

Flávio was born in Porto Alegre (RS) and moved to São José dos Campos (SP) to study at university. This scholar has taken high school at the Military School of Porto Alegre. At the Military School he concluded the course as the first of his grade and received the DEPA prize (Preparatory and Assistance Education Department) and the Marechal Luiz Osório Merits of Honor Medal for academic development. He is a member of the Legion of Honor from Porto Alegre Military School. Within this period he got enrolled into sports like swimming, fencing and basketball and was also a member from the School Astronomy Club. He was also medalist on the Brazilian Olympics of Physics (silver) and Astronomy (gold). At the end of high school, he applied for the Engineering course (at ITA, IME, UNICAMP, UFRGS and the Air Force Academy). He was approved in all of them and has chosen ITA, in 2006. Concluded the two first years with academic honors for development and maintain his CR general accumulated score in an average of 9.6.

Flávio é coordenador da Comissão de Estágios e Empregos do ITA, que organiza e divulga oportunidades profissionais de diversas áreas aos alunos de graduação. Foi membro da Biblita iniciativa que organiza e mantém uma biblioteca de títulos diversos para alunos do ITA. Estuda alemão há dois anos. É também membro da equipe responsável pela construção do ITASAT, o primeiro satélite universitário brasileiro, desenvolvido em parceria com o Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) e patrocinado pela Agência Espacial Brasileira (AEB). Flávio is the coordinator of the ITA Employment and Trainee Commission, which organizes and broadcasts professional opportunities from several areas for the undergraduate students. He was a member of Biblita an initiative that organizes and maintains a library of several titles for the students of ITA. He has been studying German for two years. He is also a member of the team responsible for the construction of the ITASAT, the first Brazilian university satellite, developed in partnership with the National Institute of Space Researches (INPE) and sponsored by the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).

Flávio Raposo de Almeida, 21 Engenharia da Produção | Production Engineering UFRJ - Intercâmbio para | exchange student at École Centrale de Nantes Natural do Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Flávio estudou no Colégio Militar do Rio de Janeiro, simultaneamente ao ensino técnico em Mecânica no Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Rio de Janeiro (CEFET-RJ). Ingressou na UFRJ em 2004 e, após um ano de curso, decidiu que deveria mudar o curso para Engenharia de Produção. Prestou o vestibular novamente e foi aprovado, iniciando o curso de Produção no primeiro semestre de 2006. Born in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Flávio studied at the Military School of Rio de Janeiro, at the same time as he studied Mechanics at the Federal Center of Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET-RJ). He began to study at UFRJ in 2004 and after taking it for one year he decided that he should switch the course to Production Engineering. He took the admission exam again and was approved starting his Production course on the first semester of 2006.

14 Na UFRJ, foi monitor de duas disciplinas, Engenharia do Trabalho e Desenho de Engenharia. Fez uma iniciação científica da Fundação COPPETEC, sobre análise de testes realizados em sítios de produção de biodiesel, com bolsa patrocinada pela Petrobrás e desenvolveu um trabalho de campo, referente à disciplina Engenharia do Trabalho, sobre a atividade em salas de controle da operação nacional do sistema elétrico brasileiro. No final de 2006, participou de um projeto de extensão universitária que consistia em propor melhorias para o ambiente físico e de processos da área de Hematopediatria do Hospital da Lagoa. Desde 2007, Flávio estagia na Visagio, consultoria em Engenharia de Gestão, realizando mapeamento de processos de negócios, especificação de sistemas de apoio à decisão (quadro de indicadores) e desenvolvendo ferramentas em VBA para áreas de Engenharia de Processos. At UFRJ he was a tutor on two disciplines: Labor Engineering and Engineering Design. He started a basic scientific research at COPPETEC Foundation about tests analysis on biodiesel production sites with a scholarship granted by Petrobrás and developed a field work on the Labor Engineering subject, about the activities on the control rooms of electrical system national operation. At the end of 2006 he participated on a university extension project that consisted on proposing improvements on the physical environment and the processes from the Lagoa Hospital Hematotherapy Unit. Since 2007 Flávio has been a trainee at Visagio on Management Engineering Consultancy, doing business process mapping, decision making supporting systems specification (indicators chart) and development of VBA tools for the Process Engineering field.

Gilberto dos Santos Giuzio, 24 Engenharia Mecânica Aeronáutica | Aeronautical Mechanic Engineering ITA

Gilberto nasceu no Paraná, mas sempre viveu na cidade de Nova Bandeirantes (MT). Estudou em uma escola pública que ficava a 50km do sítio onde morava. Fez o Ensino Médio em apenas um ano, por meio de supletivo e, ao fim do colégio, não teve a possibilidade de fazer vestibular pois as provas mais próximas ficavam a 1000km de onde morava. Estudou sozinho e trabalhou na zona rural por três anos, até que, em 2005, prestou vestibular e ingressou em Engenharia Elétrica na PUC Campinas, com bolsa de estudos do Prouni - Programa Universidade para todos, do Governo Federal. Gilberto optou por não cursar a PUC Campinhas, pois conseguiu uma bolsa de estudos integral, em um curso pré-vestibular em Campinas (SP), onde poderia morar, com o auxílio de uma tia. Em 2006, prestou vestibulares de Engenharia Mecânica para o ITA, IME, e engenharia Elétrica para a USP e UNICAMP. Foi aprovado em todas as instituições, obtendo o 1º. lugar na USP e na UNICAMP. Por conta desses resultados, foi um dos personagens da reportagem especial "Alunos nota 10", realizada em 2007 pelo Fantástico, programa da rede Globo. Gilberto optou pelo ITA, onde mantém um CR médio de 8.8.

Gilberto was born in Paraná but has always lived in Nova Bandeirantes (MT). He studied at a public high school 50km away from the farm where he lived. He concluded high school in only one year through a quick course and at the end of high school he was not able to take the preparatory courses for the admission exams for Universities once that the closest specialized school was at 1,000km away from where he lived. He studied by himself and worked on the rural zone for three years until 2005, year which he to the admission exams and entered on Electric Engineering at PUC Campinas, with a scholarship of Prouni University For All Program from the Federal Government. Gilberto chose not to study at PUC Campinas once that he got a full scholarship in a preparatory course for university admission exams in Campinas (SP), where he could live with the support of his aunt. In 2006 he took the university admission exams and was approved in all institutions, being on the 1st place at USP and UNICAMP. Due to those results he became on e of the characters from a special news report called “Maximum Score Students” broadcasted in 2007 by Fantástico, a Rede Globo TV program. Gilberto has chosen ITA where he maintains a general score of 8.8. O bolsista trabalhou na zona rural com a família desde os 11 anos de idade e, em 2006, quando se mudou para Campinas, trabalhou em uma ótica como montador de óculos para poder pagar suas despesas. Em 2007, em São José dos Campos, tornou-se professor particular de Matemática para alunos do Ensino Médio, professor plantonista de Matemática no COC Vestibulares e na Academia dos Concursos. No ITA, foi monitor de Física avançada. Entre as atividades voluntárias, Gilberto participa do CASD Vest, curso pré-vestibular comunitário, tendo atuado no Departamento de Ensino como coordenador dos simulados e, atualmente, na área de Recursos Humanos, onde é responsável pela seleção de novos alunos. The scholar had worked at the rural zone with his family since his was 11 and in 2006 when he moved to Campinas he worked at an optician company as a glasses assembler in order to be able to pay his expenses. In 2007 in São José dos Campos he became a private Math Teacher for the high school students and also a tutor Math Teacher at COC exam's preparation courses and also at the Public Employment Exams Academy. At ITA he became a tutor for Advanced Physics. Among the volunteer activities Gilberto participates on the CASD Vest, a communitarian preparatory course for the university admission exams, working on the Education Department as an exam simulation coordinator and currently on the Human Resources area, where he is responsible for the selection process of new students.

Greice Ellen Santos Tavares, 20 Administração de Empresas | Business Administration FEA-USP Greice é paulista e sempre viveu na capital (SP). Fez o Ensino Fundamental e Médio em colégios públicos. Decidida por cursar Administração na USP, realizou, durante dois anos, curso pré-vestibular. Prestou vestibular somente na FEA-USP e na EAESP-FGV, sendo aprovada em ambas. Optou pela FEA-USP, onde estuda desde 2007. Greice fez curso de teatro e estagiou no jornal da escola durante o Ensino Médio. Neste período, trabalhou com pesquisa de mercado e também com panfletagem em lançamentos imobiliários para poder pagar as despesas do curso prévestibular. Greice is from São Paulo and has always lived on the capital (SP). She took the primary and high school on public schools. Determined to study Business Administration at USP she took for two years the preparatory course for its admission exam. She applied only at FEA-USP and at EAESP-GV, being approved in both. She has chosen FEA-USP where she has been studying since 2007. Greice has taken drama courses and worked as a trainee at the school newspaper during her high school. Within this period she worked with market research and also with leaflets distribution for real state ventures launching in order to pay her expenses for the preparatory course for the university admission exam.

Greice ministra palestras, em seu antigo colégio sobre as possibilidades e desafios para um aluno de ensino público ser aprovado na USP. Em 2007, ingressou no PESC Programa de Extensão de Serviços a Comunidade da FEAUSP, onde teve a oportunidade de prestar consultoria para a reestruturação do Projeto Alavanca Brasil, ONG que atua na área de educação. Foi presidente da equipe que obteve a terceira colocação em um concurso de Planos de Negócio promovido pela Escola Politécnica da USP. No final de 2007 juntamente com seus amigos reativou uma unidade do Rotaract, a fim realizar projetos relacionados e educação, ocupa os cargos de vice-presidente e diretora de profissionalização. Desde o início deste ano, é monitora de um curso de pós-graduação em petróleo e gás na Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA). Greice delivers lectures on her former high school about the possibilities and challenges for a public school student to be approved at USP. In 2007 she started at PESC Extension program of Services to the Community from FEA-USP where she had the opportunity of giving consultancy for the restructuring of the Projeto Alavanca Brasil (Brazil Lever Project) an NGO that works on the educational field. She was the president of a team that has gotten the third place on a Business Plan contest promoted by the Polytechnic School of USP. At the end of 2007 together with her friends she reactivated one of the Rotaract units in order to do some projects related to education. She has now taken up the post of Vice President and Professionalizing Director. Since the beginning of this year she has been the tutor for a graduation course of petroleum and gas on the Administration Institute Foundation (FIA).

Julia Resende Averbuck, 18 Economia e Matemática | Economy and Mathematics Yale University Julia é carioca e desde os três anos de idade estudou na EARJ (Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro), onde irá se formar no high school em julho deste ano. Fez aulas de balé por 11 anos consecutivos, estuda francês e estudou espanhol. Dado o gosto pela matemática, cursou Matemática Avançada durante o 11º. e 12º. ano, preparando-se para o diploma internacional do International Baccalaureate (IB). Julia sempre quis estudar em uma escola de classe mundial e candidatou-se para Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, University of Chicago, Duke, Columbia e University of Pennsylvania duplo diploma em Business e Liberal Arts. Julia foi aprovada para todas as escolas e optou por estudar Economia em Yale.

Julia is from Rio de Janeiro and since the age of 3 she has studied at EARJ (American School of Rio de Janeiro) where she will conclude high school in July this year. She took ballet classes for 11 consecutive years. She studies French and Spanish. Once she is keen on Mathematics she studied Advance Math on grades 11 and 12, in order to get prepared to the international diploma from the International Baccalaureate (IB). Julia has always wanted to study in a world class school has applied for Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, University of Chicago, Duke, Columbia and University of Pennsylvania double diploma on Business and Liberal Arts. Julia was admitted on all universities and has chosen to study Economy at Yale.

Na EARJ, foi presidente de sala durante os dois primeiros anos da high school e em seguida, tornou-se presidente do Student Council (STUCO), o grêmio escolar, por meio do qual organizava as eleições de sala, aprovava as novas políticas da escola em relação aos alunos e organizava eventos e atividades sociais. No último ano, foi a responsável pela organização da Caminhada contra o Câncer, na Lagoa. Também deu aulas voluntárias de Matemática, na EARJ, para crianças da Rocinha e participou, durante todos os anos do high school, do Model United Nations, simulação estudantil internacional das Nações Unidas, por meio da qual representou países como Equador, Jamaica e Angola e participou, por dois anos, de reuniões do Conselho Econômico e Social do programa, na Holanda. Julia também jogou futebol de salão, futebol de campo e basquete pela escola. At EARJ she was the president of her class during the two first years of high school and then she became the Student Council President (STUCO), through which she used to organize the class elections, approved the new school policies towards the students and she also used to organize events and social activities. On the last year she was responsible for the Walk Against the Cancer at Lagoa. She has also given Mathematics classes as a volunteer at EARJ for the children of Rocinha and participated through all her high school on the Model United Nations a student international simulation of the United Nations through which she represented countries like Ecuador, Jamaica and Angola and participated for two years of meetings from the Social and Economical Program in Holland. Julia also played indoor soccer, field soccer and basketball fro the school.

Letícia Cancela de Oliveira, 20 anos Administração Pública e Direito | Public Administration and Law Fundação João Pinheiro Letícia é de Belo Horizonte (MG). Fez o Ensino Médio com Técnico em Turismo no Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica (CEFET-MG). Ao fim do curso técnico, fez três meses de estágio em Turismo no Apart Hotel Saint Martin e matriculou-se em um curso pré-vestibular, que pagou por meio do próprio trabalho. Em 2006, prestou vestibular para Administração Pública e Direito, na Fundação João Pinheiro e UFMG, respectivamente. Foi aprovada e ingressou em ambas em 2007. Letícia is from Belo Horizonte (MG). She studied high school with a technical degree in Tourism on the Federal Center of Technological Education (CEFET-MG). At the end of her course she worked for three months as a trainee at the Saint Martin Apart Hotel and got enrolled in a preparatory course for the university admission exams which she paid through her own work. In 2006 she took the university admission exams for Public Administration and Law at João Pinheiro Foundation and UFMG, respectively. She was approved and entered both in 2007.

Letícia começou a trabalhar na 7ª. série do Ensino Fundamental, como recepcionista de mostras de teatro. No colégio, organizava eventos como festas juninas, seminários de graduação e caminhadas beneficentes. Trabalhou também como atendente em um pré-vestibular e como promotora de vendas de uma empresa de chocolates. Há um ano, participa como voluntária do grupo Feliz Idade, que realiza visitas e presta assistência a asilos de Belo Horizonte. Desde o segundo semestre da faculdade, faz estágio na administração pública do Estado de Minas Gerais, na Superintendência de Planejamento, Gestão e Finanças da Polícia Civil. Lá, ela é responsável por acompanhar a implementação de algumas das ações do projeto estruturador do Governo do Estado para incentivar o turismo na Estrada Real (do Rio de Janeiro a Diamantina-MG), como por exemplo a organização de cursos de capacitação em segurança turística para os policiais que atuam na região. Letícia started to work on the 7th grade of junior high school as a receptionist for theatrical play exhibit. In high school she used to organize events such as Brazilian cultural folk parties called “festa junina”, undergraduate seminars and beneficent walks. She also worked as an attendant at a preparatory course for the university exams and as a sales promoter for a chocolate company. For one year she has been working as a volunteer for a group called Feliz Idade (Happy Age) that visits and provides assistance to nursing care homes of Belo Horizonte. Since the second semester of University she has been working as a trainee on the public administration of the State of Minas Gerais, on the Planning, Managing and Finance Superintendence of the Civil Police. There she is in charge of following the implementation of the structuring project from the State Government to encourage the tourism on the Royal Road (from Rio de Janeiro to Diamantina MG), as for example the organization of training courses on tourist security to the police officers that work in that region.

Luiz Filipe Serravite Ferreira, 19 Economia | Economy University of Chicago Luiz Filipe também é de Belo Horizonte (MG). Cursou o Ensino Fundamental no Colégio Batista Mineiro, em Ouro Branco e o Ensino Médio no Colégio Santo Antônio, em BH. Em 2006 fez um ano de intercâmbio para a Alemanha e lá desenvolveu interesse por Economia e Política. Resolveu conhecer as melhores escolas de Economia do mundo para a sua graduação e, na volta ao Brasil, em 2007, ingressou em Economia na UFMG. Neste período, se preparou para o processo de application das universidades americanas. Enviou applications para Harvard, Williams College, Dartmouth College, University of Chicago, Duke e Yale. Dessas, ingressou em University of Chicago e Dartmouth College, além de ter sido colocado na lista de espera de Yale, Williams e Duke. Além de falar inglês, alemão e espanhol fluentemente, ele atualmente estuda francês, italiano e chinês.

Luiz Felipe is also from Belo Horizonte (MG). He studied junior high school at Colégio Batista Mineiro in Ouro Branco and the high school at Colégio Santo Antônio in Belo Horizonte. In 2006 he went as an exchange student to Germany and there he developed an interest for Economics and Politics. He decided to know about all the best Economy universities of the world for his degree and back to Brazil in 2007 he started to study Economy at UFMG. During this period he got prepared to the application process of the American universities. He applied for Harvard, Williams College, Dartmouth College, University of Chicago, Duke and Yale. Out of which he was approved at University of Chicago and Dartmouth College, apart from being also put on the waiting list for Yale, Williams e Duke. Despite of being fluent in English, German and Spanish he also studies French, Italian and Chinese.

Luiz Filipe participou do grêmio escolar no Colégio Santo Antônio, sendo Diretor, Vice-Presidente e Presidente. Fez duas iniciações científicas, sendo uma sobre desenvolvimento de produtos e outra sobre as bases neurobiológicas que determinam o Mal de Alzheimer. Ainda no colégio, participou do Projeto Jequi, a fim de identificar os principais problemas e propor soluções práticas para a região do Vale do Jequitinhonha. Durante o intercâmbio na Alemanha, foi professor particular de Português e, atualmente, é professor de inglês e alemão em escolas de idiomas de Belo Horizonte e de Geografia em um cursinho pré-vestibular solidário. Desde o início de 2008, é trainee da Câmara Americana de Comércio (Amcham). Luiz Felipe participated on the Student's Council on the Colégio Santo Antônio being the director, Vice President and President. He did two scientific initiations being one for product development and the other about the neurobiological basis that determine the Alzheimer's disease. Still in high school he participated on the Jequi project, seeking to identify the main problems and indicate solutions to the Jequitinhona Valley's region. During his exchange program in Germany he became a Portuguese private teacher and he is currently a teacher of English and German on the language schools in Belo Horizonte and a Geography teacher at a communitarian preparatory course for the university exams. Since the beginning of 2008 he has been a trainee of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham).

Nádia Leão Ferreira Dias, 19 Engenharia de Alimentos | Food Engineering UNICAMP Nádia nasceu em Santa Helena (GO), cidade de 35.000 habitantes e viveu lá até os 17 anos. Fez o Ensino Fundamental na Escola Cecília Meireles , sendo a primeira da sala durante todo o período . Realizou o Ensino Médio no Centro Educacional Quasar na cidade de Rio Verde (GO). Nádia optou por cursar Engenharia de Alimentos e fez vestibulares para a UNESP, USP Pirassununga e UNICAMP. Foi aprovada nas três instituições e escolheu a UNICAMP. Nádia was born in Santa Helena (GO) a 35,000 inhabitants city and she lived there until the age of 17. She took junior high school on Cecília Meireles School being the first in class from the whole year. She took the high school at Quasar Educational Center on the Rio Verde city (GO). Nádia has chosen to study Food Engineering and she took the university exams for UNESP, USP, Pirassununga and UNICAMP. She was approved on the three institutions and has chosen UNICAMP.

Desde de 2007, estuda a produção e imobilização da enzima lipase em um laboratório da universidade e trabalha em uma iniciação científica em Biotecnologia com a enzima tanase. A bolsista também estuda francês na universidade. Atualmente, é Presidente do MTE - Mercado de Trabalho em Engenharia, entidade estudantil da UNICAMP que tem como objetivo integrar os estudantes de Engenharia com o mercado de trabalho e promover desenvolvimento profissional. Ingressou na área de Marketing e Treinamentos da entidade no início de 2006, e atuou no pilar de Desenvolvimento em 2007 e, no início deste ano, assumiu a Presidência. Since 2007 she has been studying the production and immobilization of the lipase enzyme in a university lab works on a basic scientific research in Biotechnology with the tenase enzyme. The scholar also studies French at the university. She is currently the President of MTE Market of Work on Engineering an student's institution from UNICAMP that seeks to integrate the engineering students with the working field and to promote professional development. She joined the field of Marketing and Trainings of the institution in 2006 e worked on the basis of development in 2007 and at the beginning of this year she has assumed the post of President.

Natacha Gadelha Rocha, 21 Engenharia de Produção | Production Engineering UFC - Intercâmbio para | exchange student at École Centrale de Paris Natacha é de Fortaleza (CE) e estudou no Colégio Farias Brito até a 4ª. série do Ensino Fundamental, com bolsa parcial. Da 5ª. série ao 1º. ano do Ensino Médio, estudou no Colégio Militar de Fortaleza e retornou ao Farias Brito para concluir o Ensino Médio, com bolsa de estudos integral. Praticou ginástica rítmica e dança (balé, jazz e sapateado), por mais de dez anos. Ao fim do colégio, fez um ano de curso pré-vestibular e passou em 2º. lugar no para o curso de Engenharia de Produção na Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), em 2006.

Natacha is from Frotaleza (CE) and studied at Colégio farias Brito until the 4th grade of primary school with partial scholarship. From the grade 5th grade until the 10th grade of high school she studied at the Military School of Fortaleza and returned to Farias Brito in order to finish high school with a full scholarship. She took rhythmic gymnastics and dancing classes (ballet, jazz and tap dancing) for over 10 years. At the end of high school she took one year of preparatory courses for the university admission exams and passed in 2nd place for the Production Engineering course at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) in 2206.

Logo no início, na universidade, Natacha fez pesquisas sobre Petróleo e Planejamento e Controle da Produção. Em 2007, iniciou pesquisas no Grupo de Engenharia Econômica e passou a participar do Observatório Tecnológico da UFC, realizando um mapeamento da cadeia produtiva de petróleo no Ceará e das necessidades de uma subsidiária da Petrobrás que atua no estado. No início deste ano, foi aceita para o programa de duplo diploma em parceria com a École Centrale de Paris. Natacha começou a trabalhar aos 16 anos como professora de Ginástica Rítmica Desportiva, para alunos de 7 a 10 anos, no Colégio Farias Brito. Em 2006, já na faculdade, deu aulas voluntárias de dança contemporânea para um grupo de 20 alunas de uma escola estadual da cidade. Na faculdade, participou por dois anos da Empresa Júnior, nas áreas de RH e projetos. Right at the beginning of university, Natacha did some researches on Petroleum and Production Planning and Control. In 2007 she started researches on the Economical Engineering Group and joined the Technological Observatory of UFC, doing mapping of the petroleum productive chain on Ceará and from the necessities of a Petrobrás subsidiary that works on the state. By the beginning of this year she was accepted for the double diploma program in partnership with École Centrale de Paris. Natacha started to work when she was 16 as a rhythmic gymnastics sports teacher for 7 to 10 year students at the Colégio Farias Brito. In 2006 already at University she taught contemporary dances as a volunteer for a group of 20 girls from a state public school in the city. At University she participated for two years on the Junior Company in the areas of Human Resources and projects.

Níkolas Francisco Iubel, 19 Engenharia e Matemática | Engineering and Mathematics Stanford University Níkolas é natural de Curitiba (PR) e sempre estudou em escola pública. Na 5º. série do Ensino Fundamental ingressou no Colégio Militar de Curitiba, onde concluiu também o Ensino Médio. O bolsista teve um desempenho excepcional no Colégio Militar. No 3º. ano do Ensino Médio, recebeu o título de "Coronel-Aluno" - a graduação máxima dada a um aluno no sistema Colégio Militar do Brasil - e, com ele, a função de comandar o Batalhão Escolar do CMC. É membro da galeria de honra "Panteon" do colégio, onde só aparecem os alunos que foram primeiros colocados de suas séries durante todos os anos de estudo e sempre obtiveram médias anuais superiores a 9,0 em todas as matérias. Em 50 anos de existência do Colégio Militar de Curitiba, essa honra foi dada a apenas quatro alunos, entre os quais Níkolas. Ele também participou de competições de Matemática e Física, recebendo medalha de Ouro em 2004 e 2005 nas Olimpíadas Paranaenses de Física e, em 2006, medalha de Ouro na Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática do Ensino Público. Níkolas is from Curitiba (PR) and has always studied at a public school. On the 5th grade of primary school he joined the Military School of Curitiba where he also concluded the high school. The scholar had an exceptional development at the Military School. On grade 12 of high school he received the title of “Colonel-Student” highest ranking title given to a student on the Brazilian Military School system and with it the role of commanding the battalion of students from CMC. He is a member of the honor gallery of “Panteon” from the school where only the students that were the first ones in their grades throughout all their time of attendance and maintained the scores over 9.0 in all subjects can participate. During 50 years of the Military School of Curitiba existence this honor has been given to only four students including Níkolas. He also participated on Mathematics and Physics contests getting Gold medals in 2004 and 2005 on the Physics Olympics of Paraná and in 2006 another Gold medal on the Brazilian Mathematics Olympics of Public Schools.

Ao fim do Ensino Médio, foi selecionado pelo programa Jovens Embaixadores, iniciativa da Embaixada dos EUA no Brasil que visa ao intercâmbio cultural entre Brasil e EUA para jovens brasileiros oriundos do ensino público. Níkolas passou o início de 2007 nos EUA, em visitas a líderes internacionais, estudando inglês e ministrando palestras sobre o Brasil em escolas nos EUA. Após esta experiência, foi selecionado para participar do United States Students Achievers Program/Opportunity Initiatives (USAP), promovido pela Embaixada Americana em parceria com a Comissão Fulbright, que tem como objetivo preparar talentos de baixa renda para cursarem a graduação nos EUA. Dessa forma, mesmo já tendo iniciado as faculdades de Engenharia Industrial Mecânica na UTFPR (antigo CEFET-PR), onde foi aprovado em 3º. lugar, e Publicidade e Propaganda na Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), aprovado em 1º. lugar, preparou-se sozinho para os exames norte-americanos de admissão e testes de inglês. Candidatou-se para Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Amherst, University of Pennsylvania e Drake. Foi aprovado em Stanford, Amherst e Drake e ficou em lista de espera em Yale. Retirou sua application para University of Pennsylvania antes de receber resposta, pois já havia escolhido em qual universidade se matricular: optou por Stanford, universidade em que sempre quis estudar. Em Stanford, ganhou bolsa de estudos integral para custear seus estudos durante os quatro anos da graduação. At the end of his high school he was selected to the Young Ambassadors program which is an initiative from the American Embassy in Brazil that seeks to promote the cultural exchange between Brazil and the U.S. for Brazilian young people from the public schools. Níkolas spend the year of 2007 in the U.S. visiting international leaders, studying English and delivering lectures about Brazil in School of the U.S. Next to that experience he was selected to join the United States Students Achievers Program/Opportunity Initiatives (USAP), promoted by the American Embassy in partnership with the Fulbright Commission that seeks to prepare low income talented people to take university in the U.S. Therefore, even though he had already started the Mechanical Engineering university course at UTFPR (former CEFET-PR) where he was approved in 3rd place and he got prepared by himself to the North American universities admission exams and also English exams. He applied for Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Amherst, University of Pennsylvania and Drake. He was accepted at Stanford, Amherst and Drake. He retrieved his application for University of Pennsylvania before getting the answer once that he had already decided where he was going to study, he chose Stanford, the university where he had always wanted to study. In Stanford he got a full scholarship to sponsor his studies during the for years of attendance.

Pedro Augusto Mendonça Siqueira, 18 Yale University

Pedro é paulista, da capital do Estado. Estudou durante dois anos no St. Nicholas School e, desde os 10 anos de idade estuda na Graded School. Na Graded, obteve honras acadêmicas como o Alpha Awards, dado a alunos com média geral acima de 90 e nenhuma nota inferior a 84. Candidatou-se para Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Boston University, University of Chicago, New York University e Northwestern. Foi aprovado em todas, exceto Harvard, Stanford e Columbia. Pedro optou por Yale.

Pedro is from Sao Paulo, the capital of the state. He studied for two years at St. Nicholas School and, since the age of 10 he studies at the Graded School. Na Graded School, Pedro foi membro dos times de vôlei e basquete, por meio dos quais participou de competições internacionais nos EUA e Paraguai. Como voluntário, deu aulas de leitura e escrita, por meio do projeto Sister School, para crianças da favela de Paraisópolis, na periferia de São Paulo. Também participa do Habitat for Humanity (iniciativa do governo norte-americano para melhoria da habitação em países subdesenvolvidos). Fez parte do grêmio estudantil durante dois anos e participa do Peer Group Connection (PGC), programa que trabalha as habilidades de comunicação e liderança dos alunos do senior year do colégio, preparando-os para que ofereçam aconselhamento e orientação aos alunos da 9ª. série. Nos últimos três anos do high school, ele também se envolveu ativamente com o HACIA Democracy, simulação da OEA (Organização de Estados Americanos), organizada pela Harvard University. Por meio desse programa, participou de conferências anuais na Guatemala, Panamá e El Salvador. At Graded School, Peter was a member of the volleyball and basketball teams, in which he participated on international competitions in the U.S. and Paraguay. As a volunteer he taught reading and writing through the project called Sister School for children from the Paraisópolis slums, on the suburbs of Sao Paulo. He also participates on the Habitat for Humanity (initiative of the U.S. government for improving housing in countries under development). He was part of the Students' Council for two years and participates on the Peer Group Connection (PGC) program that works with the communication skills and the leadership of students of senior high school, preparing them for offering advice and guidance to students from the 9th grade. In the last three years of high school, he was also involved actively with the HACIA Democracy, simulation of the OAS (Organization of American States), organized by Harvard University. Through this program he participated on the annual conferences in Guatemala, Panama and El Salvador.

Pedro Barreto Vinhas Abreu, 18 Engenharia Aeronáutica | Aeronautical Engineering ITA

Pedro nasceu e sempre viveu no Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Fez o Ensino Fundamental e Médio no Colégio pH. Participou de Olímpiadas Estaduais e Brasileiras de Química, obtendo medalhas de Ouro e Prata, respectivamente. Ao fim do colégio, optou por estudar Engenharia. Foi aprovado direto, ao fim do Ensino Médio, em todos os vestibulares que prestou: IME (3º. lugar), ITA, UERJ (2º. lugar geral e 1º. lugar de Exatas) e UFRJ (1º. lugar geral). Optou pelo ITA e lá estuda desde o início de 2008. Pedro was born and has always lived in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). He did the Primary and Secondary Education at Colégio pH. He participated on the State and Brazilian Olympics of Chemistry, obtaining the Gold and Silver medals respectively. At the end of high school, chose to study Engineering. He was approved right away, at the end of high school, in all the admission exams he applied for: IME (3rd place), ITA, UERJ (2nd overall and 1st on the exact science) and UFRJ (1st overall). He chose the ITA and there he studies since the beginning of 2008.

Durante o colégio, Pedro fez aulas de música na Escola Villa Lobos e também participou de simulações da ONU durante o 1º.e 2º. ano do Ensino Médio. No ITA, ingressou na ITA Jr. (consultoria júnior), onde atua desde o início do ano no departamento de Qualidade.

Pedro Fernando Jandrey Natal, 19 Engenharia Civil | Civil Engineering ITA Pedro é natural de Canoas (RS). Aos 10 anos mudou-se para Porto Alegre (RS), para estudar. Em Porto Alegre, cursou o Ensino Fundamental no Colégio Militar e, em seguida, transferiu-se para Barbacena (MG), onde concluiu o Ensino Médio na Escola Preparatória de Cadetes da Aeronáutica (EPCAR). Neste período, obteve diversas medalhas de Ouro e Bronze em Olimpíadas Estaduais e Brasileiras de Matemática, Física e Química. Prestou vestibular para Engenharia no ITA, IME e UFRGS e foi aprovado em todas. Cursa o ITA desde o início de 2007.

Pedro from Canoas (RS). At the age of 10 he moved to Porto Alegre (RS), to study. In Porto Alegre, did the primary school at the Military School and then moved up to Barbacena (MG), where he concluded high school at Preparatory School of Aeronautical Cadets (EPCAR). Desde que ingressou no ITA, Pedro é membro do CASD Vest, curso pré-vestibular comunitário, onde dá aulas de Português e é o atual Diretor Executivo, responsável pela operação do curso. Além das atividades do CASD, também é professor de Inglês no COC Vestibulares desde junho de 2007. Renata Gukovas Mayer, 20 Economia | Economy FEA-USP Renata nasceu e sempre viveu em São Paulo (SP). Estudou no Colégio Bandeirantes e, ao fim do Ensino Fundamental, fez intercâmbio cultural para o Japão, com um grupo de 12 alunos orientais. No 2º. ano do Ensino Médio, viveu durante seis meses em Southport, na Inglaterra. Dado o interesse que sempre teve por políticas e projetos de interesse público, decidiu prestar Economia e foi aprovada em todos vestibulares que prestou: EESP-FGV (3º. lugar), FEA-USP, IBMEC-SP (2º. lugar) e Relações Internacionais na PUC-SP (2º. lugar). Optou pela FEA-USP. Renata was born and has always lived in Sao Paulo (SP). She studied at the Colégio Bandeirantes and at the end of primary school, she became an exchange student in Japan, with a group of 12 Japanese descendent students. On the 11th grade of high school, she lived for six months in Southport, England. Due to the interest that she has always had for public policies and projects of public interest, she decided to apply for Economics and has been approved at all universities she applied for: at EESP-FGV (3rd place), FEA-USP, IBMEC-SP (2nd place) and International Affairs at PUC-SP (2nd place). She chose to study at FEA-USP.

No 1º. ano de faculdade, fez intercâmbio para o Canadá para estudar francês e passou uma temporada de três meses nos EUA, onde trabalhou como salva-vidas de uma piscina de um Hotel Hilton e como vendedora em um shopping center viagem que custeou integralmente por meio desses trabalhos. Durante o colégio, participou do Projeto Cidadania, proposta de melhoria ambiental no município de São Paulo, e do projeto ICONS (International Communication and Negotiation Simulation), simulação realizada via internet pela University of Maryland. Na FEA-USP, Renata participa da Atlética, nas equipes de Basquete e Atletismo, além de ter sido diretora da modalidade Basquete por dois anos e diretora geral de Esportes Individuais. Atualmente é a secretária geral. Também estuda francês, italiano e japonês. Após o intercâmbio, Renata tem planos de trabalhar na área pública ou no terceiro setor. During high school, she participated on the Citizenship Project, and environmental improvement proposal in São Paulo, and on the project ICONS (International Communication and Negotiation Simulation), a simulation conducted via the Internet by the University of Maryland. At FEA-USP, Renata is part of the Athletic Council, in the Basketball and track and field athletics teams, In adition of been the Director of Basketball modality for two years and General Director of individual Sports. Today she is the General Secretary. She also studies French, Italian and Japanese. After her exchange program, Renata has plans to work in the public field or the Third Sector.

Thaís Fernandes Lori, 18 anos Engenharia Mecânica | Mechanical Engineering POLI-USP Thaís é de São José dos Campos (SP). Atualmente, mora sozinha na capital de São Paulo, por conta dos estudos. Em São José dos Campos, Thais estudou no Colégio Poliedro, onde concluiu o Ensino Médio. Concluiu o Kumon de matemática e é diplomada em balé clássico. Estudou inglês na Cultura Inglesa durante 7 anos. Thaís is from Sao Jose dos Campos (SP). Currently, lives alone in the capital of Sao Paulo, due to her studies. Vicente Matheus Zuffo Moreira, 19 Engenharia da Computação | Computer Engineering ITA Vicente é natural de Videira (SC). Mudou-se para São Paulo (SP) para fazer o Ensino Médio no Colégio Bandeirantes, onde concluiu o primeiro ano. Por meio de um processo de reclassificação escolar, passou para o 3º. ano e, nessa ocasião, estudou no Colégio Poliedro. Em 2004, aos 15 anos, ingressou direto no ITA, AFA e Medicina-USP. Optou pelo curso de Engenharia da Computação no ITA, e lá estuda com CR acumulado de 9.0. Vincent is from Videira (SC). He moved to Sao Paulo (SP) to take the high school at the Colégio Bandeirantes, where he concluded the 10th grade. Through a process of school reclassification, he passed straight to the 12th grade and at that time, he studied at the Colégio Poliedro. Viviane de Paula Sousa, 17 Engenharia Mecânica | Mechanical Engineering Sheffield College Viviane nasceu e viveu no Rio de Janeiro (RJ) até os 13 anos, quando mudou-se para a Bruxelas (Bélgica) com a família. Aos 15 anos, retornoo ao Brasil, desta vez para Curitiba(PR). No Rio, Viviane estudou no Colégio Santo Agostinho. Na Bélgica, estudou na International School of Brussels e, ao se mudar para Curitiba, estudou na International School of Curitiba, onde concluirá o high school. No colégio, obteve High Honor Roll por ter médias escolares superiores a 90 em todas as disciplinas. Dado o bom desempenho, também é membro do National Honors Society (sociedade norte-americana de alunos de high school com médias "A" e bom desempenho em outros aspectos). Decidiu prestar Engenharia Mecânica e, na Inglaterra, candidatou-se para Sheffield, Southampton, Imperial College, Bristol e Warwick. Foi aceita em Sheffield e Southampton e obteve lista de espera em Warwick. Optou por Sheffield.

Viviane joga futebol e vôlei pela escola e é atleta de tênis por um clube da cidade. Desde 2006, é tesoureira de um projeto comunitário em Ilha Rasa, no Paraná, que leva palestras informativas sobre saúde e atividades recreacionais a crianças da região, além de ter sido presidente e tesoureira, em 2006 e 2007, de um projeto de reforço escolar em escolas públicas para crianças dos arredores da International School of Curitiba, onde também ministrou aulas de Culinária e Matemática. No National Honors Society, também excerce a função de tesoureira e contribui na montagem de peças teatrais anuais. Viviane é também professora particular de Matemática e História para uma aluna de sua escola. Viviane plays soccer and volleyball for the school and she is a tennis athlete for a city club. Since 2006 she is the treasurer of a community project in Ilha Rasa, in Parana, which delivers informative lectures on health and recreational activities for children of the region, as well as been the president and treasurer in 2006 and 2007 at a project to tutor students in public schools for children from the surrounding area of the International School of Curitiba, where he also taught of Cooking and Mathematics. Antonia Beatriz Mendes Almeida, 25 MBA Wharton A carioca Antonia sempre estudou na British School do Rio de Janeiro, onde foi representante de sala e a melhor aluna durante todos os anos do Ensino Médio, que concluiu em 1999 cursando internacional (International Baccalaureate). Neste período foi também co-fundadora e presidente do Grêmio Escolar e capitã dos times de futebol, basquete e vôlei. Antonia fez a graduação na PUC-Rio, em Desenho Industrial (2004), com CR acumulado de 9.7. Após a realização de um coaching de carreira, ingressou na publicidade e foi diretora de arte júnior, por dois anos, na área de criação da Artplan. Azor Bolton de Toledo Barros, 28 anos MBA Wharton Azor é soteropolitano. Cursou os ensinos fundamental e médio no Colégio Santo Américo e, neste período, fez intercâmbio nos EUA. Em 1998, ingressou em Engenharia de Produção na POLI-USP. Durante a faculdade, jogou futebol de salão e foi o orador dos formandos Poli da turma de 2002. Azor is from Salvador (BA). Did the primary and secondary education at the Colégio Santo Américo and within this period, made an exchange program to the U.S. In 1998 he joined the Production Engineering course at POLI-USP. During college he played indoor soccer and was the undergraduate's speaker on Poli of the class of 2002.

Nesta área atuou como analista, gerente e hoje é VP, responsável pela negociação de contratos e por uma completa estruturação e execução de investimentos. Barbára Souza Farhat, 24 CEMS Master in International Management FGV EAESP, London School of Economics - LSE e HEC Paris Barbára é paulistana e sempre estudou no Colégio Dante Alighieri, onde obteve prêmios de melhor aluna, entre os anos de 1995 e 1999. Cursou duas graduações simultaneamente Relações Internacionais (USP) e Administração Pública (FGV EAESP). Neste período jogou xadrez pela Atlética da FGV, e fez intercâmbio para a University of Texas at Austin em 2004. Participou do Global Leaders Program do Goldman Sachs. Em 2005, publicou um livro acadêmico com seus colegas da USP. Desde os 7 anos de idade, Barbára jogou xadrez pelo Clube Paulistano. Aos oito anos foi campeã brasileira e, aos nove, disputou seu primeiro campeonato mundial na Hungria. Foi também campeã brasileira na modalidade por 10 anos consecutivos, campeã panamericana, vice-campeã mundial e é mestre FIDE (Federação Internacional de Xadrez) desde 1995. Barbára is from São Paulo and has studied at the Colégio Dante Alighieri, where she received awards for being the best student throughout the years of 1995 and 1999. She took two under graduations simultaneously - International Affairs (USP) and Public Administration (FGV EAESP). In this period she played chess for the Athletic Council of FGV, and joined exchange program to the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She has joined the Global Leaders Program of Goldman Sachs. In 2005 he published an academic book with her colleagues at USP. Since the age of 7 Barbára plays chess by the Clube Paulistano. Barbára começou o Master in International Management do Programa CEMS na FGV EAESP em fevereiro de 2008, indo cursar um ano do mestrado na LSE em 2008 e na HEC em 2009. Durante a graduação, estagiou no Consulado da Argentina, na Secretaria de Administração da Prefeitura de São Paulo e na área de Educação e Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Banco Real ABN Amro, onde foi responsável por implementar programas educacionais para funcionários terceirizados e por coordenar o programa de menores aprendizes. Em 2006, ingressou como trainee no Banco HSBC; após três meses de treinamento em Curitiba foi alocada na área de Produtos do banco comercial em São Paulo, para atuar como gerente de Real Estate. Em 2007, buscou uma oportunidade no Mercado de Capitais, trabalhando na mesa de Institutional Sales da Corretora do HSBC, como trader de Equity e Renda Fixa. Barbára began the Master in International Management from CEMS Program at FGV EAESP in February 2008, she is going to attend a year of Masters degree at LSE 2008 and at HEC in 2009. During the under graduation she worked as a trainee at the Consulate of Argentina, at the Administration Department of São Paulo City Hall and in the area of Education and Sustainable Development of the Real ABN Amro Bank, where she was responsible for implementing educational programs for the outsourced employees and for coordinating the under age apprentice program. In 2006 she joined as a trainee at HSBC Bank, after three months of training in Curitiba she was placed in the area of commercial bank products in Sao Paulo, to act a Real Estate manager. In 2007 she searched for an opportunity in the Capital Market, working on the board of Institutional Sales from the Broker HSBC, as trader of Equity and Fixed Income.

Bernardo Stuhlberger Wjuniski, 22 Msc in Economics London School of Economics Bernardo nasceu e sempre viveu em São Paulo. Estudou no Colégio Bialik e fez o Ensino Médio no Colégio Santa Cruz. Em 2003, ingressou direto em Economia na EESP-FGV, onde se formou em 2007. Atualmente, cursa o terceiro ano da faculdade de História da USP. Foi voluntário no setor de Oncologia Infantil do Hospital das Clínicas e na Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP), onde deu aulas de tradição judaica para crianças. Também fez intercâmbio para Vancouver, Canadá e estudou espanhol em Barcelona, na Espanha.

Bernardo was born and has always lived in Sao Paulo. He studied at the Colégio Bialik and did the High School at Colégio Santa Cruz. In 2003 he joined straight the Economics course at EESP-FGV concluding it in 2007. Now he attends the third year of the History College of USP. He was a volunteer at the sector of the Children's Oncology sector from the Hospital das Clínicas and Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP), where he taught the Jewish tradition for children. He also joined an exchange program to Vancouver, Canada and studied Spanish in Barcelona, Spain.

Na faculdade, orientado pelo professor Ramon García Fernández, realizou uma iniciação científica em História Econômica, com bolsa concedida pela EESP-FGV. O trabalho tornou-se sua monografia e foi apresentado em um congresso nos EUA em 2007, em Salt Lake City, no II Congresso da International Confederation of Association for Pluralism in Economics (ICAPE). Este esforço lhe rendeu o prêmio Student Scholar Award, concedido pela Association for Institutional Thought (AFIT), em abril de 2008, em premiação realizada em Denver, EUA. In college he was mentored by Professor Ramon Garcia Fernandez, made a basic scientific research in Economic History, with a scholarship granted by EESP-FGV. The work has become his monograph and was presented at a conference in the U.S. in 2007, in Salt Lake City, on the Second Congress of the International Confederation of Association for Pluralism in Economics (ICAPE). This effort brought him the prize Student Scholar Award, given by the Association for Institutional Thought (AFIT), in April 2008 at an awarding event held in Denver, USA. Em 2007, Bernardo iniciou um estágio na Tendências Consultoria Econômica e foi efetivado na área de Projetos. Atualmente atende clientes de diversos segmentos, elaborando pareceres e acompanhando projetos especialmente em Regulação e Defesa da Concorrência. Além disso, desenvolve pesquisa acadêmica na EESP-FGV trabalhando como assistente de pesquisa e monitor da disciplina História Econômica Geral. In 2007, Bernardo began a trainee program at Tendências Consultoria Econômica and was employed in the area of Projects. Currently he serves customers from different segments, developing reports and monitoring projects especially about Regulation and Concurrence Defense. In addition he develops academic research at EESP-FGV working as a research assistant on the General Economic History subject.

Catarina Campos da Silva Pereira, 26 LL.M London School of Economics Catarina é carioca. Estudou no Colégio de Aplicação da UFRJ (RJ) e cursou a maior parte do Ensino Médio no Colégio São Luís (SP). Neste período, estudou idiomas nos EUA e na França. Em 1999, de volta ao Rio, se formou no Colégio pH (RJ) e ingressou em Economia na PUC-Rio e Direito na UERJ. Cursou ambas simultaneamente e concluiu a PUC-Rio como bolsista de desempenho acadêmico com CR 8.5 e a UERJ com CR acumulado 9.0. Em 2006, realizou uma especialização em Direito Econômico, na UERJ. Catarina is from Rio de Janeiro. She studied at the Colégio de Aplicação from UFRJ (RJ) and studied most of the high school at Colégio São Luís (SP). In this period she studied languages in the U.S. and France. In 1999 back to Rio, concluded high school at Colégio pH (RJ) and joined the Economics course at PUC-Rio and Law in UERJ. She did both simultaneously and completed the PUC-Rio as a scholar of academic performance with a CR overall score of 8.5 and UERJ with CR accumulated score of 9.0. In 2006, took a specialization in Economic Law at UERJ.

Catarina estagiou na Superintendência Geral da Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), onde descobriu as possibilidades de atuação no mercado de capitais e em 2004 iniciou estágio na Jardim Botânico Partners, gestora de recursos, que na época estava recém-criada. Lá acompanhou todo o processo de captação para o Focus, principal fundo da gestora e contribuiu na redação das principais minutas dos contratos de investimento. Atualmente, faz análise de empresas e atua no fundo de ações, que administra aproximadamente R$80 MM. Em 2007, tornou-se sócia da Jardim Botânico atualmente a empresa conta com apenas seis pessoas com sociedade. Catarina worked as a trainee at General Superintendence of the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), where she discovered the possibilities of action in the capital market and in 2004 started trainee program at the Jardim Botânico Partners a fund assessment company, which at that time was newly created. There she followed the whole process of fund raising for the Focus, the main fund from the assessment company and contributed to the major minutes in the writing of contracts for investment. Fabio Futoshi Katayama, 27 anos MBA Harvard Business School Fábio é paulista e sempre estudou no Colégio Santa Cruz. Em 1998, aos 17 anos, ingressou na Faculdade de Medicina da USP. Fez iniciação científica com bolsa do CNPq no terceiro e quarto ano e com bolsa da FAPESP no quinto e sexto ano da graduação, sempre com pesquisas na área das doenças digestivas. Publicou quatro artigos em revistas científicas, desenvolveu 21 trabalhos apresentados em congressos médicos e foi co-autor de um capítulo em livro da Associação Brasileira de Câncer Gástrico. Formou-se no final de 2003 com CR médio 8,7. Fabio is from Sao Paulo and has studied at the Colégio Santa Cruz. In 1998 when he was 17 he joined the USP Medicine College. He did basic scientific research with a scholarship granted by CNPq on the third and fourth year and with a scholarship granted by FAPESP in the fifth and sixth year of graduation, always with researches in the area of digestive diseases. Published four articles in scientific journals, has developed 21 papers presented at medical congresses and was co-author of a chapter from the book of the Brazilian Association of Gastric Cancer. Neste período, Fabio estagiou com a Dra. Angelita Gama e Dr. Joaquim Gama Rodrigues referências mundiais e professores titulares da USP em coloproctologia e cirurgia do aparelho digestivo. Também foi presidente, em 2002, da Liga de Combate ao Câncer de Estômago. Nessa função teve seu primeiro contato com gestão e coordenou as atividades de um grupo de 16 estudantes. Leticia Lazaridis Goldberg, 31 MBA Wharton Letícia nasceu em Campinas (SP), mas morou a maior parte de sua vida no Rio de Janeiro. Concluiu o Ensino Médio em 1994, no Colégio Santo Inácio e, nesse período, fez intercâmbio para os EUA onde obteve diversas menções honrosas por mérito acadêmico. Cursou Odontologia na UERJ, e concluiu a faculdade em 1999 como a segunda melhor aluna da turma. Em 2000, fez especialização em Odontopediatria na PUC-Rio. Pelo interesse em ter uma transição de carreira para a gestão na área da saúde, realizou o mestrado em Administração do COPPEAD-UFRJ, que concluiu em 2004.

Leticia was born in Campinas (SP), but lived most of her life in Rio de Janeiro. She concluded high school in 1994, in Colégio Santo Inácio and, in that period, did exchange program to the U.S. where she received several honors for academic merit. Seeking to have a career transition to management in health she got a masters degree in Administration at COPPEAD-UFRJ, which she concluded in 2004.

Letícia estagiou no SESC Tijuca e no Hospital Municipal Jesus, referência em Pediatria no Rio de Janeiro. Também atuou como monitora e assistente nos departamentos de prótese e ortodontia na UERJ. Entre 2000 e 2001, atuou como professora substituta e pesquisadora na UERJ atividade que manteve por dois anos em paralelo com seu consultório próprio, especializado em Odontopediatria. Em 2003 ingressou na Amil e trabalhou com planejamento estratégico para produtos odontológicos, análise de desempenho dos planos de saúde e construção de um software para gestão do relacionamento com clientes corporativos. Em 2005, ingressou na Sul América Seguros como parte da área de Planejamento Estratégico e foi responsável pelo alinhamento dos projetos da área de saúde com a metodologia do Balance Scorecard (BSC). Cursou Administração Pública na EAESP-FGV, onde se formou em 2005 com honras acadêmicas, e foi representante de sala durante os quatro anos de curso, além de atleta de vôlei pela Atlética da faculdade. Luana is from São Paulo. She did primary school at Colégio Santo Américo and high school at Colegio San Andrés in Buenos Aires, where he lived for about 3 years. Back to Brazil she chose to return to the Santo Américo to complete the high school with a Brazilian diploma and concluded in 2000. Em 2004, a Hiroshima, empresa de venda porta-a-porta de sua família, atravessava um período de queda contínua de vendas, entrada de novos concorrentes no mercado e problemas de gestão de pessoas. Marcelo Rodrigues Marques, 27 Kellog

Marcelo é de São Paulo. Fez colégio técnico em Eletrônica no Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo Cursou Engenharia Mecânica Aeronáutica no ITA, onde se formou em 2005. Aos 15 anos, Marcelo criou um portal de internet para a área médica a fim de interligar contatos e indicações desse meio. Com outros quatro colegas, realizava a programação e atividades comerciais do site, que manteve por quatro anos, antes de vendê-lo para ingressar na faculdade. Marcelo is from São Paulo. He did technical high school at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo. He studied Aeronautical Mechanical Engineering at ITA, which he completed in 2005. At the age of 15 Marcelo created an Internet portal for the medical area in order to interconnect contacts and indications from that field. With four other colleagues he did the programming and the commercial activities from the website which he continued doing for four years before selling it to join the college.

Durante a faculdade, Marcelo participou da AIESEC, organização estudantil internacional que promove intercâmbios de estágio entre universitários do mundo todo, onde foi membro e posteriormente vice-presidente da área de Relações Corporativas e organizador de duas conferências latino-americanas da instituição. Atua até hoje na instituição, agora como membro do Board of Alumni. No segundo ano do ITA, criou, com outros dois colegas, um curso pré-vestibular em São José dos Campos (SP). Chegaram a ter 80 alunos e mantiveram o empreendimento por dois anos, antes de venderem para um dos maiores cursos prévestibular da cidade. Renato Duarte Franco de Moraes, 26 LL.M Cambridge Renato nasceu e sempre viveu em São Paulo (SP). Cursou o Ensino Fundamental na Escola Morumbi e o Ensino Médio no Colégio São Luís, onde se formou em 1998. Graduou-se em Direito na USP, em 2003. Lá, foi monitor por três anos da disciplina de Direito Romano. Foi ainda pesquisador no CEBEPEJ (Centro Brasileiro de Estudos e Pesquisas Judiciais), instituto voltado para a elaboração de estudos com enfoque na atuação da Justiça brasileira.

Renato ingressou como estagiário no Levy & Salomão Advogados. Inicialmente atuou no setor bancário e de mercado de capitais, e passou os seis meses seguintes no Imobiliário. Em 2002, passou para o setor Contencioso Cível, onde atua até hoje e coordena uma equipe. Renato também é co-autor do livro "Direito das Obrigações" (Editora Revista dos Tribunais, 2008), escrito em conjunto com uma professora livre-docente da USP e adotado no curso de Direito Civil/Direito das Obrigações da universidade, no qual atualmente atua como assistente. Silvia Filgueiras, 25 anos MBA Harvard Business School Sílvia é natural de Santos (SP) e estudou no Colégio Universitas, em Santos, durante o Ensino Médio. Formou-se em Administração de Empresas pela EAESP-FGV, em 2004, com CR acumulado 8.36 (top 5%) e menções honrosas por desempenho acadêmico. Nessa época, fez intercâmbio para a University of Otago, na Nova Zelândia. Sílvia is from Santos (SP) and studied at the Colégio Universitas in Santos during her high school. She got her major in Business Administration by the FGV-EAESP in 2004 with a CR accumulated score of 8.36 (top 5%) and honors for academic performance. At that time, did an exchange program to the University of Otago, New Zealand.

Sílvia foi membro da Empresa Júnior da EAESP-FGV e começou a trabalhar como estagiária no Equity Research do Banco Brascan. Após a formatura, foi contratada como analista na área de Private Equity da Merrill Lynch. Lá, integra a equipe de oito pessoas que administra os investimentos do grupo na América Latina. Além da análise de novos investimentos em diversos setores, entre os quais, saúde, varejo e automotivo, Sílvia teve participação ativa no monitoramento das empresas do portfolio.
