Homemade Gingerbread Cookies & Chocolatey Hot Chocolate HOMEMADE GINGERBREAD COOKIES Serves 24
INGREDIENTS 3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon ground ginger 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature 3/4 cup dark brown sugar 1 large egg 1/2 cup molasses 2 teaspoons vanilla Preheat the oven to 375 F. Sift the flour, salt, and spices together in a bowl. Set aside. In the bowl of a standing mixer, cream the butter and sugar until just blended. Add the egg and mix. Add molasses and vanilla and mix well. Slowly mix in the flour mixture until the dough forms. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4� thickness. Cut shapes using cookie cutters. Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet for 8-9 minutes.
CHOCOLATEY HOT CHOCOLATE INGREDIENTS 4 cups milk, preferably whole 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1.5 cups cocoa powder 1 Tablespoon vanilla
Serves 4
Optional Toppings Sweetened whipped cream Vanilla marshmallows Grated chocolate or cinnamon Heat milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once milk is warm, add in cocoa and chocolate chips whisking constantly until chocolate has melted. Allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with any of the optional toppings.
