May 2014 will see the start of our new Festival of Learning – for adults, families and communities – which will culminate in a week of activities during Adult Learners’ Week at its new date of 14 – 22 June. The Festival of Learning will encompass activities such as Voluntary Arts Week, Museums at Night Festival, Learning at Work Week, Hay Festival, VQ Day (a national celebration of vocational qualifications) Volunteers Week and Universities Week. Adult Learners' Week is Wales’ largest festival and celebration of adult learning, co-ordinated by NIACE Dysgu Cymru and core-funded by the Welsh Government, and the European Social Fund. The campaign offers adults the chance to have a go at learning something new by trying out one of the hundreds of free taster sessions that happen across Wales during the week, and an opportunity for learning providers to showcase their provision. If your organisation is planning or has organised a FREE event / activity / taster session / open day or information day which takes place between Monday 19th May and Monday 30th June 2014, then we would like to invite you to upload them to our online system. Once you have uploaded them, they will be advertised for free on -
the Welsh Government website (www.yourfuturechoiceaction.com)
-

Need funding for an event? Each Learning Festival group across Wales has £2000 available to them. This grant is to be divided between the group in order for partners to put on free taster sessions and events for current and potential learners in your county. If your organisation would like to put on a taster session or event during ALW 14 and you would like to apply for funding, it is vital that you complete the attached ‘Event Request form’ and take it to your next meeting. This will be your last chance to apply for ALW funding.
If you would like to attend this meeting, please email your coordinator. If you do not have your coordinators contact details, please let me know and I will put you in touch with them.
