Independent Advocate 16 hours per week initially Salary Grade NJC sp. 22-25: starting at £20,013 pro rata We wish to recruit a dynamic, self motivated person committed to the rights of disabled people and the value of advocacy. The Independent Advocate will assist individuals who are referred to the service to exercise their rights and access their entitlements. The postholder will be confident in supporting and representing adults across a wide area including learning disability, physical disability, sensory impairment and older people, and in a variety of situations within a crisis/paid advocacy service throughout the local authorities in which Dewis C.I.L provide advocacy support (mainly South East Wales). Sufficient knowledge, experience and organisational skills will be required of the successful person, who will join our advocacy team in Pontypridd. The postholder will be computer literate with a high standard of written and verbal communication. Though being office based, the Independent Advocate’s work will involve travelling throughout the area in which Dewis CIL operate. Dewis CIL is an independent voluntary organisation with an integrated management committee of disabled and non-disabled people. We particularly encourage disabled people and people with direct experience of disability to apply. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
