WHAT DO UNIONS ACHIEVE?
WHY THE GMB AT INTERLINK?
Trade Unions represent people at work. This could mean someone from the Union meeting with management on@behalf of a member or group Interlink of staff. They provide their members with information, advice and guidance about work-related problems.
Interlink has a trade union recognition policy with the GMB which states that Interlink will consult on all matters relating to salaries and working conditions of all GMB Union members.
Unions aim to protect their members, ensuring that workplaces are safe and that people are not being put at risk through their jobs. It also means legal protection—trade unions usually employ lawyers to make sure that organisations comply with employment law.
Interlink also recognizes the right of the GMB Union to represent the interest of any or all its members at all stages during grievance and disciplinary procedures and to call in Union representatives who are not employees of Interlink whenever it considers it appropriate.
Trade Unions aim to improve members pay and conditions, they collectively negotiate better pay and conditions on behalf of their members. They also provide members with a range of services including training, insurance, financial services and legal advice.
By joining the GMB, Interlink staff have a ‘collective voice’ and a recognized agreement, with their employer the Interlink Executive (The Trustees).
