Night Out has worked with hundreds of community venues throughout Wales, enabling them to promote over 9,000 performances of all types – from theatre and music to circus, dance and puppetry – to over 600,000 people.

How it works – simplified: Get in touch with the performer, pencil in a date. Apply to Night Out either online or fill out the simple 3-page booking form, applying at least four weeks before the event but preferably much earlier. If successful, Night Out will pay the performer fee and you get the performer at a reduced rate which can be guaranteed by your local authority, so taking away the financial risk. You put on the event, apply for local licences, put up posters and promote it to your local community, have a great time and then report back after the event – paying back the ticket income made (up to a maximum of the performer fee).

Night Out is part of the Arts Council of Wales and works in partnership with local authorities. It aims to encourage, enable and support: High quality professional performances in communities throughout Wales, many of whom have little access to arts events. Encouraging the arts economy – providing a platform for performers from Wales and further afield to reach local communities. Encouraging community development, volunteering and the local economy and contributing to the use of village halls and community venues as viable hubs for local organisations. The Night Out scheme has allowed us to bring some of the highest quality theatre events to Blaengarw. It is a really easy process … the staff are very helpful and really share our vision for making these kinds of events accessible for local people. Without Night Out, sadly some just wouldn't be viable and the community would really miss out on consistently wonderful experiences.

“ Night Out is a great safety net.” Siobhan McGovern, Promoter, Pembrokeshire

The scheme has had a real impact on our small, rural, village community. The very special combination of affordable, quality, professional entertainment in a very local environment, has helped to generate a stronger feeling of community and friendship, providing, for some, the only opportunity to experience a live theatrical production.
