Responsible to and Managed by: - Renew Wales Project Director Core Purpose and Role of the local Coordinators: Manage, support, empower and develop the capacity of communities across Wales to take action on Climate Change, including groups not previously involved, through the development of action plans and the provision of mentoring, peer to peer support, training and technical or other advice. Key Roles • Outreach and recruitment of an initial 5 community groups new to or not already involved in climate change action in their allocated area • With the assistance of the Project Director, ensure effective local marketing and promotion of the Renew Wales programme and its achievements to all partners and the media. • Facilitate the community groups to generate their own climate change action plan • Generate letters of commitment from each of the community groups • Assist each community group to determine the peer support that would be most appropriate to aid implementation of their top one or two actions • Report back to the Project Director on progress against targets specified in the Renew Wales application.


• Oversee the project administration including Mentor time, information recording, and evaluation • Attending Renew Wales Conferences and Training as appropriate • Ensure that all agencies and organisations who can assist communities in achieving their priority actions are effectively signposted and engaged in supporting the communities’ objectives and actions (both for Renew Wales projects approved for support and mentoring and for those applicants not approved) • Identify best practice and relevant learning from the experience gained by community sustainable development practitioners • Management of Mentors’ time and work they do with the group Additional activities: • Identify and signpost to additional investment opportunities for community action on climate change projects. • Identify and assess the feasibility of a range of other potential opportunities for DTA Wales and its partners to assist and provide support for the growing climate change, sustainable development and community energy sector.


PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: • Excellent customer care and communication skills. • A strong track record of successful community engagement and support of projects • Experience of promoting and supporting effective relationships between communities and other stakeholders. • A strong awareness of best practice in community based enterprise, community development and regeneration. • High degree of IT skills • Able to work on occasional evenings, weekends and to stay away from home overnight, with prior notice, on Renew Wales business. • An interest in tackling climate change at a local level.

Desirable: • A good degree of knowledge of climate change and local climate change action • Direct experience of the Development Trusts Association’s work or works of other social enterprises. • Ability to communicate in the medium of Welsh (essential in certain areas such as Gwynedd and Anglesey)


• Excellent marketing and communication skills. • A good knowledge of Social Media • A driving licence and use of an appropriate vehicle, available and insured for business use.

Main Terms and Conditions of the Contract: • You need to work for a not for profit organisation in order to be eligible for this contract. • A day rate for work completed, to include all travel and VAT, will be paid to the social enterprise or third sector organisation hosting the Coordinator of £250 per day. There is one year left on the programme and the successful candidate will have 18 days available to work on Renew Wales. It is expected that you will be able to meet your targets within this timeframe. • Days that will be paid for include Group Outreach, Action Plan Supervision, Account Management with Mentors, attendance at Training Sessions and Community Leaders Conferences • This Post is funded by the Big Lottery Fund in Wales for two years and any extension of this Contract beyond that is subject to funding.
