Animals In Art
Nicola Marshall| Titapu & Kowhai Pod | Mixed media | 123 x 61cm | $5,250
As our fellow companions in life and art, this exhibition honours the special relationship between man and the animal kingdom. Featured works include contemporary bird paintings by Wyomingbased Nicola Marshall, the fantasy realism of Jasmine Middlebrook and from the Whanganui studio of Timon Maxey, cubist compositions of pastoral New Zealand. Andrea Mazzoli of the Friuli-Venezia region, north-east Italy, sends a collection of his unique mixed-media panels of goldďŹ nches and sparrows. Graham Kirk’s major work, Rupert Bear and Bill Badger above Backbeach awakens the inner child. Further paintings by leading artists, Eugenea, Brian Dahlberg, Patricia Payne, Don Packwood and the bronzes of Mike Norris create an exhibition infused with energy and connectedness to the natural world.

Jasmine Middlebrook - Fantasy
I like a little mystery. There’s a meaning for me but I want everyone to find their own meaning in my work - Jasmine Middlebrook
Fables, fantasies and the realm of the fantastic is familiar and inspirational ground for New Plymouth based artist, Jasmine Middlebrook. These highly original, visually captivating works transport the viewer to a time and place of wonder made believable through the artist’s skilful rendition and mastery of technique. Exotic members of the Animal Kingdom are often portrayed within a New Zealand landscape, echoing and amplifying the call of the wild.
