The Student and Her Flowers Oil on composite board 91 x 107 Signed & inscribed $30,000 - 40,000 Inscription reads: A young woman at Agricultural College decided to enter a competition for the best flowers grown by a student. She dawdled along imagining herself winning first prize, standing on the stage making a speech of thanks, followed by most enthusiastic audience applause. For months she spent her time and energy nurturing her crop. On the day of the awards, she rose early and picked her finest blooms. A sudden gust of wind swept her flowers in the air, she tripped and fell, and the flowers came down, bruised and broken, like her dreams.
