Webinars: New from Online PD this autumn We’re very excited about the successful launch of our pilot IB webinars. Between now and mid-November, you’ll have a chance to focus on a specific professional development need via a 40-minute live webinar session, for the introductory price of US$50. You can ask questions in the session and network with other participants, much like at a conference or training event—but without leaving your desk! Webinars will give us an opportunity to cover some aspects of our workshop topics in more depth and to be more responsive to your needs. Have a look at the range of topics we’ve lined up for the pilot—we’d love to hear what other topics you’d like us to cover. Get in touch by emailing ibid@ibo.org. Updated workshop design is a hit Have you signed up for a workshop yet? In the July edition of the Online PD e-newsletter, we showed you the new look for our online workshops. The first workshops since the launch of the new design are now underway, and we are happy to report that the new site has been very well received. There are more than 900 participants currently using the platform and we are planning to report on their experiences in the next e-newsletter. Here’s what one workshop facilitator had to say about the new design: I love the new look! It is a big improvement on the old version - more attractive and more intuitive.

Access workshops using mobile and tablet devices Our online workshops are now more accessible than ever. In addition to creating the new design, we have made significant upgrades to our online systems – including optimizing them for viewing on a smartphone or tablet.

Workshop participants using mobile browsers can now access a completely different layout, suitable for small touch screens. Online learning and professional development are always at your fingertips, even when you are on the go.

New addition to the Online Professional Development team Online PD is pleased to welcome Mirja Myllykangas to the team. Mirja joined the IB in September as our Online Specialist (Delivery), based in The Hague. Her background in the support of online distance learning with Laureate Education is an excellent match to her new role supporting the delivery of online workshops and managing our growing external online facilitation team. Mirja will collect and analyse research data received from our stakeholders, helping Online PD to continuously improve the service that we provide to IB schools globally. Additionally, she will take on responsibility for promotion of Online PD’s offer to schools. Mirja’s past experience makes her a very welcome addition to the team: “I am an internationally minded professional with a strong focus on building longterm customer relationships and delivering online services. During my professional career I have had the opportunity to participate in the fast-paced excitement that surrounds start-ups and new projects undertaken by highly motivated teams.”
