I primi 60 anni di Intern i, una lunga storia di testimonianza e racconto della cultura del progetto, segnano anche la 26ª edizione di Intern i KingSize. Il “giornalone” free press, guida per immagini delle novità presentate durante la settimana milanese del design (7-13 aprile), registra puntualmente nuovi prodotti e talenti, proposti sia dalle aziende consolidate, sia dai marchi newcomers. Le preview si articolano nelle sezioni tematiche Casa, Complemento, Cucina, Bagno, completate da una selezione di alcuni dei più promettenti Giovani Designer dall’Italia e dal mondo. Come sempre, il binomio vincente nasce dalla creatività unita al know how produttivo, che trova in Milano una vetrina internazionale e interdisciplinare unica al mondo. Interni in occasione dei suoi 60 anni si celebra con la Mostra Evento Feeding new ideas for the city: installazioni e nuove sperimentazioni nei cortili dell’Università degli Studi, palcoscenico sempre magico e capace di rinnovarsi, ma anche, per la prima volta, all’Orto botanico di Brera che, per iniziativa di Interni, dall’anno scorso ha intrapreso un percorso di riqualificazione erso Expo2015. Come di consueto, la rivista si presenta all’appuntamento di aprile con un sistema integrato di comunicazione che comprende, oltre al mensile e al KingSize, il magazine Interni Panorama (non più allegato, ma interno al settimanale), la Guida FuoriSalone cartacea, le App Guida FuoriSalone e Guida Zee Milano, e il rinnovato sito www.internimagazine.it sempre più social e interattivo, animato da un’area blogger, foto e videogallery, news in tempo reale. EDITorIaLe EDITorIaL The fi st 60 years of Intern i, a long history of reporting and narration of design culture, and the 26th edition of Intern i KingSize. This large-format free press publication is a guide, in images, to the novelties presented during Design Week in Milan (7-13 April), punctually surveying new products and talents, offered by established companies and newcomer brands. The previews are organized in the thematic sections Home, Complements, Kitchen,Bath, along with a selection of some of the most promising Young Designers from Italy and the world. As always, the winning combination is creativity plus productive know-how, for which Milan is a unique international and interdisciplinary showcase. Interni celebrates its 60th anniversary with the Exhibition-Event Feeding new ideas for the city: installations and new experiments in the courtyards of the State University, always a magical setting; and, for the fi st time, at the Botanical Garden of Brera, which thanks to Interni’s initiative is now in a process of complete renovation, leading up to Expo2015. As usual, the magazine approaches the big week in April with an integrated communication system that includes not only the monthly magazine and KingSize, but also the Interni Panorama magazine (no longer a supplement, but inside the weekly), the FuoriSalone Guide on paper, the FuoriSalone Guide App and the Zee Milano Guide App, as well as the upgraded website www.internimagazine.it, now more social and interactive than ever before, featuring a blogger area, photos and a video gallery, along with news in real time. S i fermò proprio davanti al mio piccolo spazio, osservò con attenzione i miei lavori, si congratulò e mi augurò buona fortuna. Da lì a pochi giorni, una telefonata, mi informò che, se volevo, i vasi Acquarello potevano entrare nel catalogo di C appellini. A lucky encounter? Giulio Cappellini, in the Design Market area of Abitare il Tempo in Verona. He stopped right in front of my little space, looked at my works carefully, complimented them and wished me good luck. A few days later I got a phone call, telling me that if I was willing, the Acquarello vases could be part of the Cappellini catalogue.

Credendomi vittima di uno scherzo di amici burloni, risposi in maniera poco convenzionale, generando una piccola gag. I fondly remember the telephone call from the architect Piva: the chairman of the jury of the Premio Caiazza 2009 announced my victory in the competition. I thought some friends were playing a practical joke, so I responded in a rather strange way, which generated a bit of a gag.

Vacanza /Vacation: La vacanza è un tempo magico, sospeso, pieno di aspettative, sogni e desideri. Di spazi liberi e aria aperta. Per certi versi, credo che in tutti i miei progetti ci sia un po’ di vacanza (dal latino vacare: essere vuoto), intesa come rifiu o dell’ordinario e della routine. E un po’ di relazione con l’outdoor. Vacation is a magical time, suspended, full of expectations, dreams and desires. Open spaces and fresh air. In some ways, I think that in all my projects there is a bit of vacation (from the Latin vacare: to be empty), seen as a refusal of the ordinary, the routine. And a bit of relationship with the outdoors. Ironia / Irony: Non va intesa come mero umorismo eccentricità, bensì come tensione progettuale che cerca di ripensare ai nostri gesti quotidiani: il mondo potrebbe sicuramente essere più leggero, accogliente e divertente, se imparassimo a guardarlo con occhi diversi! Poi nel 2012, l’opportunità di lavorare per Ora-Ïto a Parigi: è stato come focalizzare la mia via. It all began in 2011 when I had Michael Bihain, the well-known Belgian designer, as a teacher: I understood that good design comes before beautiful design.
