IT’S NEARLY SPRINGTIME!
Alas, the Alps were in the news for all the wrong reasons at the start of the year, with warm temperatures damaging the snow cover at low elevations. This led to inaccurate “No snow in the Alps!” stories when actually, above 1,800m, as much of the terrain is at most larger resorts, conditions were fine. Fortunately, big snowfalls in early January have changed all that anyway, and it’s looking good for the latter half of the winter.
Ski resorts and holiday companies are reporting strong booking towards the Easter holidays, and in the near term we have the excitement of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Courchevel and Meribel, then all the springtime music festivals in March and April.

Another thing to keep an eye on over the next few months is just how much success Team GB athletes will have both at the current various World Championships, and then the remaining World Cup competitions. Our new batch of superstars who have been posting podium performances in recent weeks, several of them featured in this issue, include Kirsty Muir, Zoe Atkin, Mia Brookes and Makayla Gerken Schofield, as well as Dave Ryding of course.
So if you’ve not made it out to the slopes yet this season it’s not too late, or if you like to plan ahead, it's not too early to book your 2023/24 ski holiday either. Next season’s trips are already on sale!
