Sun Peaks is a mountain resort municipality in the interior of British Columbia (or ‘BC’ as it’s commonly known) and boasts Canada’s second largest ski area with a vast 4,270 acres of skiable terrain.

It remains a hidden gem among other mountain resorts in BC and as a result, there is seldom a time skiers or riders will find themselves waiting in a lift queue. It’s a common occurrence to ski lap after lap on a bluebird day at Sun Peaks!

A welcoming, intimate community resides among the three peaks that encircle the charming village. Whether guests are visiting for a day, a week, or a month, a sense of belonging follows them on and off the slopes. Unwavering kindness and community-oriented folk await beyond the gates to Sun Peaks.

A pedestrian-only, ski through village sits in the heart of the community with more than 40 restaurants, shops and cafes. Once in Sun Peaks, guests can park their car and leave the keys at home as everything is within walking distance. Each hotel is conveniently located in the village, meaning guests need only to strap on their skis and cruise through the village to the slopes as they begin their day in the mountains.

Among the 4,270 acres of terrain, there are ski runs for all abilities. The network of trails spread across the three inter-connected mountains range from superb beginner terrain to great freeriding terrain; the trails off the Crystal chairlift on Tod Mountain are a great place for those looking for a challenge. In between, there are miles of corduroy groomers, deep steeps, and glade zones (tree skiing but with the trees thinned out).

Being situated in the interior of BC, Sun Peaks is consistently recognized for its unbeatable winter conditions. They receive an annual average snowfall of six metres of light, fluffy powder. The next pow day is always around the corner!

A favourite activity is the Alpine Fondue and Starlight Descent. Skiers and riders board the Sunburst Express chairlift after the slopes close and ride up to the Sunburst Bar and Eatery at mid-mountain to take in the view of twinkling lights below. Enjoy a Swiss-style fondue before skiing down the freshly groomed five-mile run wearing a head torch – a guide leading the way. It’s a magical experience for all.
