eCPD Resource Stock Check

This activity will take place while you are on placement in a dentist.
• Understand the costs associated with equipment and materials and their direct impact on treatments
In this task the employer has asked you to: • Functional Skills Mathematics: • Do a stock check to identify which material needs to be reordered • Compare prices of some of the basic consumables used in the dental practice
• Carry out calculations with numbers of any size in practical context, to a given number of decimal places Tables, charts and graphs

2 Tasks
Stock Checking
Task 1 The dental practice has been very busy and needs to replenish the stock. Your employer has asked you to complete a stock check to identify which types of stock need to be ordered. First of all you need to work out how many dierent items are stocked (this could be a large amount so limit this to 10 items).

Task 3 Pick 5 of the items you have listed and use the internet/ catalogues to price up the items from dierent suppliers. Plan it – think about what you need to do and how you are going to do it

Task 4 Write a report to your employer giving details of your activity and what your recommendations are for purchasing equipment based on your results. You may want to use charts to show the dierences in prices.
