Policies and Procedures

This activity will take place whilst on placement in your setting.

Learning

It is ideal for you to familiarise yourself with the policies and procedures of the setting, to support you in understanding the importance of completing tasks in a certain manner.

In this task, you will be covering the following areas: Health and Social Care

Your Activities will include:

• Basic understanding of the setting’s particular policies and procedures.

• Reviewing the policies/procedures in Health and Social Care to identify the facts and opinions

• Basic understanding of legislative requirements. 
 Training skills that you may need to undertake.

• Highlight the procedures that you will need training for

Functional Skills

• Once you have completed the task, discuss these with your workplace mentor

• Read and understand different types of text in detail • Identify the main points and how they are presented in a variety of different types of texts • Use language, format and structure suitable for purpose and audience 2


• Write clearly and coherently, including an appropriate level of detail • Ensure written work includes generally accurate punctuation and spelling and meaning is clear in more than one type of text.

2 Tasks

Task 1 Ask your manager for the policies and procedures and review the text to find out the key points and phrases within them. You need to read the text to identify the key points and phrases. • Highlight the main points • Summarise the policies • Plan it – think about what you need to do and how you are going to do it • Read the text to identify the key phrases.

Using the research carried out in Task one about the policies find the procedures linked to each one and list them below.

Identify activities you are undertaking in the setting, and then identify the relevant procedure. Tick which activity requires prior training and then identify the required procedure.
