Empowering Families at Pollet's Martial Arts

There is nothing we like more here at intouch than a local business, and it seems that the region is brimming with entrepreneurial families looking for the perfect balance between work and family life that Newcastle offers.

Local business, Pollet's Martial Arts, located at Adamstown, Medowie, Valentine and Edgeworth, is a shining example of one such family, building a thriving local business and helping the community in the process.

Danny Crouch is the Head Instructor across all four venues, while wife Skyy manages all the administration marketing and school program liaison. With all five kids also involved in classes – this is one very busy family!

Pollet's offers everyone a free trial to try unlimited disciplines of interest – which Skyy says allows each student to discover a style that is uniquely suited to them.

"There are six to try, including six martial arts disciplines, including Karate, Muay Thai kickboxing, Boxing, Okinawan Kobudo (Tradition Weapons), Kempo Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)," says Skyy.

"We have no fitness level or experience level requirements. You will very quickly feel part of the Pollet's community in our friendly, supportive, nonintimidating atmosphere. Our classes cover skill levels from absolute beginner through to competitive athlete for those aged 7 to adult and specialised Little Tigers classes for 2.5 – 6-year-olds."

Skyy says that students experience many benefits from classes, including improvements in confidence, cardiovascular health, muscle mass/tone, agility and flexibility.

"Students feel empowered and experience improved discipline, judgment and reflexes - assisting to both avoid confrontation and protect themselves when absolutely necessary," she added.

Pollet's is one of the few Dojos in Australia that can offer students internationally recognised and reputable grades. They encourage families to train and grow together as their family has, and as an added bonus, families only pay for two students and everyone else in the family trains for free.
