Dine Out for Charity to Feed Families in Need
Metta’s Local Eats The Best of Cy-Fair Three years ago, I established a partnership with Cy-Fair Helping Hands, a community non-profit geared towards putting food into the bellies of the Hungry and Homeless. Since its beginning, this program has resulted in providing more than two tons of food, and funding for CFHH. For this year’s initiative, we’ve gone bigger and bolder with “Metta’s Local Eats Dine Out for Charity.” MLE has proudly partnered with local and area restaurants and artesian eateries to help feed those in need. It is as easy as YOU dine out and enjoy eating a variety of participating appetizers, entrees, and sweet treats, and the restaurant/artesian eaterie gives a designated dollar amount of your meal, for every unit purchased, now through December 31, 2020. How does this all work? Join the “Metta’s Local Eats” Facebook Food Group OR click “Like” to follow the “Metta’s Local Eats Dine Out for Charity” FB page, where a comprehensive, up-to-date list of participating restaurants is maintained. There, you will see what each restaurant is offering as a qualifying item, AND how much of each purchase goes directly to Cy-Fair Helping Hands. It is truly LOCALS helping LOCALS in a handshake to lift our very own community, putting good sustainable food on recipients’ tables. The participating list is currently up to over forty Restaurants and Artisan eateries, and is climbing daily. Included are local favorites like Andy’s Kitchen, (The Thanksgiving Burger), Duck ’n Bao, (Soup Dumplings), Land of a Thousand Hills, (Any Croissant), Charlie D’s Pizza, (Family Value Deal), Cupcake Cowgirls, (6-pak of Cupcakes), Jersey Bagels, (Deli Turkey Meal Deal), Nyam Nyam Café, (Any Sweet Crepe and a Mettamosa combo), Rockwell Grill, (Soft Pretzel), Hanan’s Café, (Empanadas), 2 Guys 1 Pit, (Burnt Ends), Brooks Place, LLC, (3-Meat Plate), Ambriza, The Union Kitchen, and many, many more. With the first month of the quarter in the books, we find local restaurants digging deep and giving it all they can in support of CFHH. Andy Correa of Andy’s Kitchen, a contributing front runner, together with other small local shops, have already raised $5,000. What is all this buzz for anyway? This is the envelopment of Food and Fellowship into the Community to create a solid foundation for our children’s future. This is about helping our neighbors during a time where the economy is proving to be a challenge and jobs lost or lives shattered.
