Resident Spotlight: The Wright/Dupont Family
The Wright/Dupont Family
of Towne Lake
By Patricia Hudson
Andrew and Kay Wright are residents of the Towne Lake community. The Wright/Dupont family includes four lovely, active daughters: Madeline, Natalie, Ava, and Alexandra. Surrounded by this family of females, life for Andrew is certain to make for some lively times. Andrew’s memories as a child are rooted in the Woodlands in the 1980s. He fondly remembers “…exploring morning until night throughout the trails on my bike and playing until the street lights came on.” Kay grew up in Victoria. “My grandpa had a mechanic shop and I would spend summer days playing in between the shop and my aunt’s and uncle's houses nearby,” she reminisces. Finding the right person with whom to spend their lives came through mutual friends. “We were set up on a semi-blind date at Cork Cafe. We immediately connected,” recalls Kay. “Here we are, 13 years together, 12 years married, with four beautiful daughters and two spoiled pups.” Andrew graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Business degree. He is employed by Southwestern Energy in the Woodlands. Kay attended Southwest Texas State, now Texas State University, and earned a degree in Business. Kay owns a recruiting business, Wright Search Firm. “We provide professional placement within the energy and technology industries,” explains Kay. The Wright/Dupont family originally made their home in Coles Crossing. “With the birth of our fourth daughter, we needed more space. We moved into
the Cove in 2011, in one of the last lots available and then in 2014, we had an amazing opportunity to build again on a larger lot in The Crossing. Andrew's sister and her family moved to Towne Lake in 2014. We have also made numerous friends throughout the years, making Towne Lake truly our home,” shares Kay. Madeline “Maddie” Dupont, 20, attends Sam Houston State University, where she is pursuing studies in Criminal Justice. An active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, she has served as Vice President of Panhellenic Relations, SHSU Ambassador, Order of Omega, Scholarship Chair- Greek Honor Society, the National Panhellenic Council Executive Board, and Recruitment Director, and was named Phi Gamma Delta Sweetheart. GPA. She is a SHSU Honors College student, and has distinguished herself on the Dean’s List, President’s List and as the Greek Life Smartest Female Award recipient in 2021. Maddie is majoring in Victim Studies, and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in August, 2023. Future plans are to continue her education at Sam Houston State University where she will pursue a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Natalie Dupont is a 19-year-old freshman at Texas State University. She attends the McCoy Business school, and is majoring in Marketing. Her favorite classes are English and History. Natalie is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Ava Dupont is a freshman at Cypress Ranch High School. The classes she most enjoys are Biology and Geometry. This school-spirited 15-year-old is a Cypress Ranch Mustang cheerleader. “Our youngest is 11-year-old Alexandra Wright. She is a 6th grader at Anthony Middle School, where her favorite classes are Theatre and World Cultures. Alexandra has been a dancer at Athletistry Performing Arts Center for the last five years and loves Contemporary and Jazz dancing. She also played fall volleyball with the Cy-Fair Sports Association and most recently, the Texas Tornadoes Tumbleweeds,” says her mother. For Andrew, there has to be some challenges of being the sole male in a houseful of females. “Well, I always say that our house is not a democracy, because if it was, I would never win,” admits Dad. “There is always loud voices and a little drama, but other than that, I love being a ‘girl dad!’ We are blessed with great kids, though I wish that at least one of them liked to watch with sports with me!”
Natalie Dupont As parents, Kay and Andrew have some sage advice for their girls. Kay explains, “We try to impress upon the girls you have to work hard for what you want and always be yourself; work ethic and accountability go a long way, and to always stay humble and kind.” “Our favorite family memories usually revolve around birthday traditions, Christmas tree decorating and wonderful family quality time,” comments Kay. “We Alexandra Wright

attend Foundry Church on Fry Road. We try our best to plan one big family vacation and it’s always so fun, especially now that the girls are older. The one activity that brings our family together is family dinner. It truly gives us time to sit together and catch up on everyone’s day; it’s super important to all of us and we cherish it.”
While time with family is important, sometimes parents just need a little time to themselves. “Family always comes first for us, but we try to plan a vacation or quick getaway a few times a year. We love going to the Hill Country, going on hikes and visiting wineries in Fredricksburg. We also love our date nights. There are so many fun restaurants to explore in Houston!”
