PRODUCT GUIDE 2018/19

#IGROWSOYBEANS What are growers saying about NorthStar Genetics’ products and services? “The main reason I choose NorthStar for growing soybeans is consistency and productivity in yield. NorthStar varieties have always been the most productive. They are just more adapted to our climate and soil conditions.” “The thing that has really impressed me with NorthStar is the height of the plant and the way the beans are situated on the plant. I mean, they are from top to bottom every time. It’s just amazing!” Tom Thingvold – Rugby, ND

Dear Friends, Thank you for your business. We began NorthStar Genetics in 1996, banding together a group of seedsmen to grow, condition and sell soybeans and wheat to their neighbors. We were able to receive a Roundup Ready soybean license from Monsanto in October of 1996, and have been able to effectively find, test, grow and sell those beans to our neighbors, and have had a great amount of success doing so. But, only because of our dealers and customers.

Dan Hogstad CEO, NorthStar Genetics

Our slogan: “We Know Beans” has proven itself over and over, from Iowa to Saskatchewan. Our expertise in securing, testing products and outstanding in-season customer support has given us a great base of dealers and customers. We now use: “Where Seed Succeeds”, incorporating our successful entry into the seed corn business a number of years ago. The loyalty of our dealers and customers has never wavered. For that, we are grateful. The current seed industry can be described as: “transformative”, “convulsive”, “shrinking”, “opportunistic”, “frightening”, and other equally emotional terms.

It also is offering more and more choices to growers… choices never imagined 20 years ago. Stacked traits are becoming common (we were told you’ll see five stacked traits soon). The challenges NorthStar faces are becoming more intense as well. Which stacks do we grow? Which maturity zone needs which trait stack? Do we grow each trait separately? Do the traits match up to needed agronomic features? How do we control inventories? Can we still deliver on our promise of in-season timely deliveries? As we enter into this era, we’re delighted to announce Lyle Marcus has been unanimously chosen by the Board of Directors to become the new NorthStar Genetics CEO, effective October, 2018. Lyle is uniquely qualified to lead us into this new and exciting world. We’re confident we have the right man for the job. As for me, I’ve been totally blessed to have been a part of this journey. Our customers, dealers, shareholders and staff have been a delight to work with. Again, truly, thank you for your business.

Dan

Corn Traits SSRIB

SmartStax® RIB Complete® corn hybrids deliver two modes of action to protect corn plants from ECB, Corn Earworm and Corn Rootworm. These hybrids contain 5% refuge blended in the bag to simplify refuge management.

VT2PRIB

VT Double Pro® RIB Complete® corn hybrids deliver two modes of action to protect plants from ECB and Corn Earworm. These hybrids contain 5% refuge blended in the bag to simplify refuge management.

RR2

Roundup Ready® Corn 2.

GT

Hybrids with the Agrisure® GT trait provide excellent tolerance to in-crop applications of glyphosate-based hybrids.

GTA

The Agrisure Artesian® GTA trait stack brings together the elite class of high-performing Artesian™ hybrids, which convert water to grain more effectively than other hybrids, with the Agrisure® GT trait — resulting in season-long water optimization, plus excellent tolerance to in-crop applications of glyphosatebased herbicides.

3120

The Agrisure® 3120 E-Z Refuge® trait stack offers the convenience of an integrated refuge featuring two modes of action against corn borer, as well as control of ear-feeding corn insects.

3122

The Agrisure® 3122 E-Z Refuge® trait stack offers the convenience of an integrated refuge featuring two modes of action against corn borer and corn rootworm, as well as control of ear-feeding corn insects. Agrisure® 3122 E-Z Refuge® is a good addition to a multi-year corn rootworm management plan.

3220A

The Agrisure Viptera® 3220A E-Z Refuge® trait stack combines the benefits of a hybrid that maximizes yield when it rains and increases yield when it doesn’t. It provides integrated refuge and dual modes of action against above-ground corn insects, including corn borer, to reduce mold and mycotoxin contamination by limiting insect feeding damage and to protect the quality of grain. It is ideal for areas where Rootworm management is not a key focus.

Individual results may vary, and performance may vary from location to location and from year to year. This result may not be an indicator of results you may obtain as local growing, soil and weather conditions may vary. Growers should evaluate data from multiple locations and years whenever possible.
