framing Below: A small Polish whistle, which coincidentally loves to explore uninhabited mailboxes, braves a cold January afternoon. Right: These cellos sitting in their cabinets provided a perfect opportunity for me to experiment with framing.

aperture Above: Although this plant is not the liveliest it has ever been, it still has a texture which demands to be noticed. Right: This lightbulb is one of many that light up the stage in the chapel at Parkview Church.

Above: With my camera set at a 15 second shutter speed, this homemade mason jar candle provided an interesting effect. Right: Although lit matches have a tendency to make a room smell like smoke, they are fun to experiment with photography-wise!* *Disclaimer: no houses were burned down in the taking of this photograph.

Right Page: Hannah Rechkemmer, my other little sister, plays the piano. Coupled with a longer shutter speed, the movement of her hands provides an interesting blurring effect.

Above: I continue to play with fire (Don’t worry, I didn’t burn down the building taking this photo either). Top Right: Lauren Katz ‘18 poses on the stage of West High’s auditorium, illuminated by the bright lights. Bottom Right: Looking at this scene from an aerial view, I had the opportunity to capture some fun shadows.

Top Left: Although I had to lay on the ground to take this photo, the worms-eye perspective it provided me was worth it! Top Right: It’s a small world after all! Bottom Left: Lauren Katz ‘18 sits on the car of Heidi Vogts ‘18. I love the bright color of this car and the slightly imposing view that this perspective gives it. 18 FEBRUARY 2016

free form: skiing

Over the weekend I took a day trip to Chestnut Mountain ski resort and decided to capture some of my adventures. Above: It was a beautiful day for skiing, and the views from the ski lifts were my favorite part. Left: Andersen Coates skis down a blue square slope, skiing rather slowly in attempt to avoid a bad fall.

continued Left: The snow on our skis proves that we were actually skiing, right? Right: Another beautiful view from the ski lifts. From this point of view we could watch the other skiiers and snowboarders making their way down the slopes.
