f r a m i n g. The photo on the left was taken on a snowy day at West high school in the stairway. This really caught my eye because of how snowy it looked outside; almost like a white out. I loved the element of snow and how the hill in front of the school was framed by the big windows. The photo above was taken outside the auditorium of Madi Barta ‘18 on some window frame on top of stairs. I like how the lining of the bricks lines the photo, which adds to the frame in the top right corner. FEBRUARY 2015 5

shutter speed, iso, & aperature.

The photo on the left is a sunrise that I took while riding the bus on the way to school. I usually take a lot of sunrise pictures on the bus because I’m usually never up early in my free time (except weekdays of course), so I decide to snap an artsy picture when I get the chance. I like how you can see the detail of the dirt on the window. The picture on the top is a picture I took of a sunset near the West soccer fields and you can see the street lights. February 2015 7

shutter speed, iso, & aperature. The picture to the left was taken of some snowflakes on a window. It was a very cold and snowy morning and I love how this picture captures the cold temperature colors. The picture on the right is of Madi Barta ‘18 jumping in front of the main entrance of West High School.

l i n e s. The picture on the left is Madi Barta ‘18 standing in the art hallway at West High School. Madi was underneath some of West artwork. The picture to the right is a picture of Lauren Schuchard ‘18 bed in her bedroom. Behind her bed is a hanging tapestry with Christmas lights around it. The lines of the tapestry is definitely a sight to look at.

l i g h t. The picture below was taken of a sunset. I loved how the colors of the sky really stood out. I love how the cloud in this photo looked so detailed and almost three-deminsional. To the right is a photo of Madi Barta ‘18 behind the stain glass in the art hallway at West High School. I loved how the light is shining through, making the focus in the photo on Madi.

The photo above to the left is Madi Barta ‘18 standing on a stair outside of West High School. I took this photo while kneeling on the ground, under the wooden staircase. The photo on the right below is a photo of Alfonso Wheeler ‘18 enjoying having a cup of coffee on his work break. We decided to walk down to a coffee shop called Corridor Coffee. The photo on above and to the left is a photo of some winter trees in Dubuque, IA. I took this photo underneath the tree.

(going from left to right) Madi Barta ‘18, Me, Ellie Gretter ‘18, Haley Shook ‘18, and Lauren Schuchard ‘18. We decided to take a group photo with our french braids. To the right is a picture of half of my face that Ellie Gretter ‘18 took.

p o r t r a i t u r e.. The photo below is a collage of Madi Barta ‘18 laughing because of how uncomfortable she felt while taking this photo; we had a crowd watching us. The photo on the right is a photo of me in the side mirror of a party bus.

f r e e f o r m. The picture to the top left is of the sky when landing in Florida. I love how this picture shows the city but as well as the sky; I feel this gives the picture many different dimensions and looks as if you are looking outside the airplane window. The picture to the left bottom is a picture also in Florida of a sunset on the beach. The picture above to the left was taken in Iowa during a sunset on the highway.
