Above, Katie Havel, ‘19 poses as I snap a picture from a small hole in the wall outside near the courtyard. The circle at the end of the small tunnel forms a frame around Katie. although she is not in focus, the frame is. On the opposite page the trojan symbol in the main commons is naturally framed by the railing below it surrounding the plants. FEBRUARY 2016 5
Shutter Speed Above I tell Maddy Floss‘19 to whip around so I can snap her hair in motion. I used a high shutter speed to capture this.

On the opposite page, Sam Sunderland ‘19 glides across the ice in the West courtyard after the first freeze.

Aperture/ ISO
On this page you can see how only some snowflakes are in focus more in the bottom half of the photo amd there is also some light reflecting off of the tiny flakes. Also with the converse photo my shoes are more in focus than the side of my leg. The darker picture was taken in line for the dark ride called “Space Mountain in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Although it was dark, the ISO helped the photo still become light enough. Portraiture Above, Madison floss, ‘19 poses on the little theatre as I snap a full body portrait. On the opposite page are some photos of my late Siberian Husly Missy posing and snuggling up for the camera.

Lines
On the left side, the icy stiars and metal railings form straight and curved lines. Below, there are lines all over but the railing is a leading line up to the girl standing in the corner; the focal point of this photo.

The line in the photo to the right is the shadow of the flag pole outside of our main entrance. However after casually walking on it like a beam, I decided to snap a photo and it turned out kind of cool. Below, I took the photo outside in the courtyard behind West. The bars are completely frosted over and you can intricate little snowflakes popping out threatening to fall off and melt away.

Opposite page: View of sunlight reflecting off some of the tiny flecks of snow. The top corner is more of a shadow. Left: Katie Havel ‘19 stands as I shine a flashlight in the pitch black girls bathroom to create a her shadowy silhouette Above: I took this through an airplane window because of the way the light hits the clouds only is some places while shadows being in others.

Perspective Above, Jalen Gaudet ‘19 walks up the library stairs; taken from the top step to show what a little bugs perspective might be like. Top left: a view of the American flag from below right outisde of the school entrance. Bottom left: A birds’ eye view of fresh footprints walking into West High. FEBRUARY 2014 3

Freeform Both of these photos were taken at Epcot in Walt Disney World in Orlando. The big ball I took from almost underneath it for a different almost bugs-eye-view like perspective. The opposite photo was just a random mini tower with a Mickey Mouse stuck on top of it which I thought was cool.

Freeform For my freeform photos I chose to do pictures I took in Orlando which ended up being right during this project! On the opposirte page I like how the lights and nackground are not in focus, it kind of adds a magical touch.
