Framing Left: After a run, while listening to some music, I threw my pair of earbuds on a circular table. Coincidentally, it landed in that position and it was the perfect opportunity to take a picture of it. Right: In the pursuit of trying to come up with some good framing picture ideas, I noticed and odd crack in a tree that would serve well as a good frame. Lo and behold, a bike rack was right in front of it and it was a great chance to snap a picture.

Top left: One day after school, I decided to take Shawn Thacker ’18 to the band room to teach him a few instruments. The first thing I managed to teach him was a drum roll. The picture shows Thacker attempting a roll with his sticks going everywhere with a shutter speed of 1/24 of a second. Bottom left: Also on Thacker and my trip to the band room, Thacker felt the urge to play some piano. Pictured is Thacker playing a chord in his right hand, and quickly shifting his hand, too, while playing a rhythm in his left at a shutter speed of 1/15 of a second. Top right: As I was enjoying a nice lunch on a Sunday, I remembered that I had a chandelier right in front of me. This was a great opportunity to take a picture and blur the background to create a good aperture shot with aperture of f/2.4.

Top left: Also with an aperture of f/2.4, this photo was taken after I finished some homework, which I used this pencil to do. The homework was still on my mind so I saw a good opportunity and took the picture. The photo is strictly about the pencil’s aperture and its vibrancy in comparison to the background. Bottom left: After my aforementioned run, I decided to juggle a soccer ball as a cool down. Pictured is my soccer ball quickly rolling across the floor with an exposure time of 1/24 of a second. Top right: As Junhee Lee ’18 and I were taking pictures during class, I happened to get thirsty and drank some water, eventually coming up with the idea to get a shutter speed shot of some water, once again with a shutter speed of 1/24 of a second.

Portraiture Bottom left: I asked Nina Elkadi ’18 to check what time it was as we were headed back to class and decided to snap a picture of her in the process. It also turns out that the watch that Elkadi was wearing was Wingel Xue’s ’18. Right: During Thacker and my travels to the band room, I noticed that the piano he was playing on gave a great reflection- this was a great opportunity to catch a really unique portrait of Thacker.

Lines Left: On a cold winter day during intro class, Lee and I decided to go outside and I noticed that some of the road paint had some nice lines. I really like the effect that the snow and water had in the background. Right: On another day, this time with Catherine Ju ’18 and Lee, I noticed a few trees neatly in line with one another. That day was also very cold and taking this picture was quite difficult as sometimes the other tree’s lining became unalligned. 12 FEBRUARY 2015

Top right: Picture is an orange that Lee and I found. I threw it on the ground as it seemed to have some mold on it and it landed like that. This was a coincidence I could not miss and so I took a picture of it with a little bit of sun light showing. Bottom left: At this point in the photography unit, I decided to try out a new and improved camera. This was the first picture I took with it and I really like it because some of the sun’s reflection seemed to be caught by the lens. Top right: This picture was extremely difficult to capture because my shadow always seemed to get in the way of the tree so I had to hide behind it and take the picture which was much harder than it would have seen.

perspective Left: This is a picture of Mason Wang ’18. This was an interesting photo angle for me because I was standing at the top of the stairs in the courtyard while taking a picture of someone else who is doing an action. Right: This picture practically hurt to take. I had to climb a very cold tree on the top of a snowy hill. On top of that I had to actually take the picture with one hand while my other hand steadied myself. The perspective turned out really cool I think.

FRee form Left: My free form photos all had the theme of nature and what better way to start than with another perspective shot? Picture is one of the bigger trees in my house from a worm’s eye view. Right: This picture took some creativity from myself as I found a basil leaf sprouting off the wall. It took some good memory to remember to take the picture.

CONTINUED... Left: This picture took a while to take because it was a really windy day and the plant kept on moving. I really like the perspective on it: really up close and next to it, showing a lot of detail. Right: This is another spare leaf that I happened to find outside on my lawn. I thought it was pretty cool as I have never seen a leaf like that outside so I decided to take a picture of it to commemorate the moment,.
