WHAT ARE WE WATCHING IN ANIME CLUB? BY: Sam Westergaard

If you want to watch or have watched any anime this is the club for you. Anime club is a weekley club that meets every Friday in room 27 from 4:15-5:30. The club is sponsored by Mr. Connor. The club isn’t as known as other clubs throughout west. ¨At the club the members watch different Animes. ¨You get to see these cool new animes you may never had heard of, and you get learn about a small part of another culture, and it’s great.¨ Said Eddie Wilson 19, the Club President. Before, and After the anime is over people socialize each other. ¨In past years it has been just talking to the people who help clean up, and all the staff members. But now that all the staff is gone. So now it’s just hanging out with all the people at the club.¨ Wilson said. Many of animes are shown at the club ¨I like Bakuman we should it two years ago, and I showed it this year but not many people like it because it’s just a slice of life, there’s not to much of a plot, there’s a little overarching plot. I enjoy it.¨ said Wilson. The animes are different every week. Occasionally Studio Ghibli films are shown such as The Wind Rises, Spirited Away, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

Running anime club isn’t easy, but it’s not difficult. ¨It’s not really hard, you just clean up afterward, the hardest part is getting people to stay quiet during the anime, I’ve kinda just givin up by now. I just turn the anime up louder.¨ said Eddie. As the club president Eddie is given many job. These jobs include having the anime that is going to be watched, preparing the snacks, and cleaning up afterward. ¨I brushed up the floor with that good old broom. Like what was stated earlier if you watch or plan on watching any anime, this is the club for you. You are guarented to meet many fellow anime fans.

AVENGERGS ENDGAME MOVIE REVIEW BY: Sam Westergaard

I loved the first Avengers film. Avengers Age of Ultron was pretty good but not as great as its predecessor. Avengers Infinity war blew me away, and became my favorite, that is, until Avengers Endgame. Avengers Endgame is the fourth Avengers film, and the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s hands down the best Marvel film (if not the best superhero film). This part will be the non spoiler review. I am going start with the good, talk about the not so good, and then end with the good stuff. Hands down the two best characters were Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans). The film feels heavily based around Cap and Tony’s relationship. The duo have always had great chemistry: Tony is a comedic know it all, and Cap serves as a good foil to him. The film is built on the connections, and the relationships of the characters, Cap and Tony are a great representation of this. Endgame feels like a perfect celebration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is full of references. This doesn’t come off as fan service, and feels rather natural. The visual effects are stunning once again. I´d say the effects are on par with Infinity War. The final battle, looks amazing, and Thanos is awesome looking. Now onto the not so good. There are a few characters that feel somewhat wasted, and not used to their full potential. There are also some continuity problems, that leave you scratching your head. Hopefully a few these will be explained by a director or a filmmaker. It’s really hard to talk about the good and the bad without spoiling it. Nevertheless, Avengers Endgame is phenomenal, with strong characters, an amazing story, and overall is a great celebration of the MCU. Sure, there are a couple of problems, however the good definitely outweighs the bad. SPOILER ALERT!!! THIS PART OF THE REVIEW FEATURES SPOILERS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Once again I am going start with the good, talk about the not so good, and then end with the good stuff, so here we go. The final act is amazing, seeing every single hero go up against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army is such an awesome way to end the movie. This fight scene is like something you’d see in comics. The best part the battle is seeing Cap, Tony, and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) all go up against Thanos; it’s awesome. Speaking of Thor, he is quite an interesting character in this film. At the start of the film he kills Thanos, and afterwards he goes into a drunken, Fortnite (yes, somehow Fortnite made it into an Avengers movie) depression because he feels responsible. For some reason this has been seen as controversial. Some think this doesn’t make sense, and don’t like it. I, on the other hand, find it quite hilarious. This version of Thor serves as good comic relief. This also makes sense for his character; Thor basically caused the deaths of trillions across the universe, and of course he´d be upset. It’s time to talk about the characters: let’s start with Tony Stark, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Captain America. Tony and Black Widow both die by both sacrificing themselves. Personally, Tony’s death is way more powerful. He uses the infinity gauntlet to kill Thanos and his army. It’s a great way to to end his story. Speaking of story endings, Cap is sent to drop off the Infinity stones back in time. He chooses to stay in the past, and a live a normal life. This is a perfect way to send off Cap. He has always been a man out of time so to have him go back to the past is the perfect. Another great character in the film is Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). I have always been a fan of Hawkeye, and here he is at his best. He is willing to do anything to avenge his family, who

get turned to dust. This makes him a more realistic Like I said earlier, I think Avengers Endcharacter. game is amazing. Seeing all of the Avengers films in Now on to the problems. My least favorite part the theater one after another has been an incredible of the film is Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). I really liked experience. Weather you have been with the MCU her film, and I was expecting her to be a big part of this since the beginning in 2008 or not this is one movie film. The marketing falsely advertised that she would you can’t miss. have a big role while she actually only had a very small part. Carol Danvers is only in the film for 10-15 minutes, and the film is 3 hours long. I was hoping to see her travel back in time (I´ll get to that later) with the team. Oh well, at least she was cool in the scenes she did appear in, and her new hair cut is neat. I mentioned time travel, right? Yes, the Avengers time travel to get the Infinity stones from the past. This is an awesome part of the film, but it’s rather confusing. In the theater I was rather lost on how they describe time travel. I kind of understand why they didn’t change the present, but it’s definitely confusing.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 REVIEW By: Sam Westergaard

On May 19th 2019 Game of Thrones´ final episode aired. This marked the end of the amazing series. However there is much more to unpack from not just the final episode, but from season 8 itself. Let me say that this season is very interesting indeed. I will split this review in to two halves the first part will be discussing the first 3 episodes. Let us start with episodes 1-3. The first part of season is actually really great, and is very awesome. The most controversial episode of the three is ¨The Long Night¨, and personally I don’t get it. The episode is well paced, with great acting, and is incredibly suspenseful. The only real problem is that it’s really hard to see the action. There is so much fog, and know that it’s difficult to see. But like I stated earlier, ¨The Long Night¨ is very good, it’s probably my favorite episode from this season. The other two episode them being ¨Winterfell¨, and ¨A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms¨ are also both really good, and they both hold up well. But there isn’t that much that makes them stand out, nothing to mind blowing. However the two episodes are still really good. To recap, Episode 1-3 of Game of Thrones season 8 are really great.

Now onto episodes 4-6, This is where things get interesting. The episode ¨The Last of the Starks¨ has received very low ratings. I missed this episode when it aired, but from what I read I did not miss much. From what I read the episode felt rather rushed, but it wasn’t awful. Episode 6 entitled ¨The Bells¨ is a different story. While it was really suspenseful, and very intense this episode also felt really rushed. This episode set the record as the lowest rated Game of Thrones episode, and I can’t disagree. Now onto the finale, ¨The Iron Throne¨ and to be honest I quite like this episode. Most people either like it or they hate it personally I like. Rather than have a huge bloated battle or something It feels calmer, and more peaceful. Which is ironic because peace is made between the kingdoms. The episode feels well balanced, and all the charcters storys feel completed. Overall, the final season of this amazing show is a mixed bag. Four out of the six episodes are quite good, and I really like. However “The Bells”, and “The Last of the Starks” are the weakest episodes of the entire series, and drag the season down a peg. But the like said it’s a mixed bag.
