Next To Me
by Otto Knows
Released May 8th, 2015, by Swedish DJ Otto Knows, this song has quickly skyrocket in popularity. With the classic synthesizer, grooving baseline and driving rhytm, all on top of a story about love, this song is sure to get you in that summer mood. With almost 4,200,000 plays already on Spotify, this song’s popularity has not even reached it’s peak potential. So go ahead, give it a try. You are not going to regret it. At least, not until you can’t get the song out of your head.

Choir
This one time in choir the superintendent and principal came in and stopped choir. They even brought out Mr. Haas, the other choir director, and we thought he was going to be arrested. But it turned out he had won the Shine Award and it was really funny.

Playing flash games with Derek and Anu because doing classwork is for losers. I also do a lot of academic work and taking breaks is nice, especially when those breaks get you AP credit.
American Literature Honors
I really enjoyed going out into the forest with my group and making a project for class about transcendentalism

AP Economics
Just Tyson and Tyson I guess. His joking with Vikerman... It [Economics] is interesting and also easy to understand, yet challenging enough that you have to work hard at it.

American Literature Honors
Building marshmallow structures in the woods for the transcendentalism unit. It was just freeing, because it allowed you to do whatever you want and they were edible.

Oh there were so many, one time our teacher Mr. Henderson spoke all of the lyrics to “Uptown Funk” in monotone. It was funny because he did it in such a dry, empty way. It was the exact opposite of what “Uptown Funk” represents. 04

SO Last Year
That’s
Viral sensations come and go, but in their short bursts of relevance, they can result in huge and worldwide impacts 2015 is here and with it signals the departure of the many fads that filled 2014. These flashes of popularity mobilized millions of people around the world to follow in the footsteps of the online millions before thme as they sought to get their own 15 seconds of internet fame. One notable viral sensation was the Ice Bucket Challenge. For the two of you that haven’t heard of this event, people would nominate three friends, donate to the ALS, and would then dump a bucket of ice water (hence the name) on themselves. According to the ALS website, over $220 million was raised for the foundation around the world, and that money will be used to help support families and research. The goal of the ALS foundation is to have a world free of Lou Gehrig’s disease, and funding raised through sensations such as the ice bucket challenge. According to the ALS, they raised over 114 million dollars between July 29 and September 22. That’s a total of 55 days,
or roughly 2 million dollars a day. Compared to the year before, in which a total of 2.5 million was raised between July 29 and September 22. To compare the two years, over 40 times more money was raised in the same period as a result of the ice bucket challenge. The Ice Bucket Challenge raised almost as much as the ALS did in two months, in a span of a little more than a day. This is a monstrous testament to the power of social media. There are over 2,333,000 videos that have to do with the Ice Bucket Challenge on YouTube. This doesn’t even account for the people who participated and didn’t post their video to YouTube. This viral sensation differed from those that came before it. Because unlike planking, this sensation had a purpose behind it. So maybe humankind is moving toward a brighter future after all.
