Make sure to Ungroup your template before you start plugging in your new information. 3. Make sure your pages and folios match your table of contents from page 3: Pages 4-5: Framing Pages 6-9: Shutter speed, aperture, ISO Pages 10-11: Portraiture Pages 12-13: Lines Pages 14-15: Light Pages 16-17: Perspective Pages 18-21: Free form *You can make small tweaks to the template, but be sure to keep the look consistent, and be sure to talk to me about this. * If you choose, you may add extra pages to your portfolio to include extra credit photographs. To do this, go to LAYOUT - PAGES - ADD PAGE. If you do this, be sure to add in 2-page increments.

Shutter Speed PHOTOS. These are two shutter speed photos that I took. The first picture (left) is of Prateek Raikwar, ‘18, playing the piano. I took this picture with a low shutter speed to catch the movement of his hands across the keyboard in the image. Raikwar has played piano for many years. The second picture (right) is of Quentin Davis ‘18. In this picture, I also used a low shutter speed. I did this to capture the path of the snow ball hitting him across the face.

Shutter Speed and aperture PHOTOS. These two pictures are of a fountain in a church in downtown Iowa City, and a close up of my viola. For the first picture (left) I used a fast shutter speed to capture the image of the water pouring out of the spout and splashing. For the second picture (right), I used the aperature priority mode on my Canon camera to get a clear close up of the bridge area of my viola, while blurring the fingerboard and scroll.

For these pictures I changed the ISO settings on my camera to adjust for the different light settings. The first picture (top left) is of a temple in Basantapur, Kathmandu, Nepal. I took this picture during a vacation in 2012. I had used a low ISO setting on my Canon camera (ISO 80) so I could get a clear picture of all the details with minimal distortion. The lighting was pretty good, as well, so I didn’t need a high ISO. The second picture (bottom left) is of the moonlight cityscape of a street in downtown Iowa City. I took this picture with a high ISO on my Nexus 5 to balance out for the dimly lit, poor lighting. Because of this adjustment, more noise is visible, when compared to the other images. For the third image (right) I used my Nexus 5 with a low ISO (80) to take a picture of the Old Capitol in downtown Iowa City. I did this to capture the details of the Old Capitol without much noise.

Lighting PHOTOS.

These pictures are for my light category of my portfolio. The first picture (left) is of the Hotel Vetro and Iowa City Public Library in downtown Iowa City. I captured this picture from across the street, just when the sun was right above the top of the Hotel Vetro. The second photo (right) is of a sushi bar in downtown Iowa City. I was walking down an alley when I turned to the right and saw a glimpse into this restaurant. When I took my picture, the sun reflected off the glass, creating the unique lighting seen in this picture. 10 FEBRUARY 2014

Free Form PHOTOS. For my free form photos for my portfolio, I decided to go to downtown Iowa City and take pictures of the architecture I saw. In the first image (left) I was looking out a window in the Seamens Center when I saw the City Hall. So, I decided to take a picture of what I saw. In the second picture (right), I was walking down an alley in downtown Iowa City, when I saw some graffiti and decided to take a picture as well.

Perspective PHOTOS. These are my perspective photos. The first (top left) is of a tree in downtown Iowa City. To take this picture I had to lie down on the sidewalk. The second photo (bottom left) is of a staircase in the Seamens Center in downtown Iowa City. To get this picture I had to climb up six flights of stairs. The third picture (right) is of electricity meters in an apartment complex in downtown Iowa City. For all of these pictures, I tried to show a new perspective on everyday things.

Portraiture PHOTOS. These are my portraiture pictures. The first (left) is of Junhee Lee, ‘18, sitting on a bench in downtown Iowa City. I tried to get a casual picture of him sitting down. The second (right) is of Fenna Semken, ‘18, standing on one of West High’s exterior staircases. For this picture, the sun was shining into the camera, and it helped to add to the photo.
