Education New Zealand is pleased to support EduTech 2017, and I welcome all of the delegates from India and New Zealand who are working to progress education partnerships between our two countries. As New Zealand’s government agency responsible for taking our education experiences to the world, Education New Zealand (ENZ) strongly endorses the focus of this year’s summit on Knowledge, Skill and Technology. International education provides enduring cultural, social and economic benefits for all countries. For New Zealand, international education is our fourth-largest export industry. More than 130,000 international students study here every year, supporting over 33,000 jobs across the country. India is and will continue to be a significant education relationship is for New Zealand - more than 28,000 Indian students studied in New Zealand in 2016, making it our 2nd largest student market. ENZ is committed to a high-quality and sustainable education relationship with India. We are partnering with leading institutions from both countries to attract high-quality students to New Zealand, as well as supporting New Zealand students to travel to India through the Prime Minister’s Scholarships for Asia. I am pleased to note that the progress in the education relationship between our countries is being recognised, most recently through ENZ receiving our first Gold Award at PR Awards Asia 2017 for the India education promotion campaign ‘From Volume to Value’. Such recognition is testament to the hard work of our leading institutions, academics, and students from India and New Zealand. I welcome the leadership and support of all of the participants of the EduTech 2017 Summit, and look forward to future successes and achievements as a result of the Summit. I also thank the India New Zealand Business Council for arranging the Summit, and for the Council’s ongoing support of our India and New Zealand education organisations and businesses.

July 2017 New Zealand Trade & Enterprise is proud to support this year’s India New Zealand Business Council Summit. With more than 50 offices worldwide, including two in India, NZTE is committed to growing companies bigger, better, faster for the benefit of New Zealand. Our teams in New Delhi and Mumbai are seeing a new generation of companies targeting this large and diverse country, especially in the technology, services and creative industries. The 2017 Summit’s focus on education technology reflects New Zealand’s commitment to growing our world-class technology and education sectors. New Zealand has long been a leading education market and we’ve exceled at developing education and training programmes that foster a student’s ability to think critically and creatively. In India, and the broader South Asia and Middle East regions, aviation training programmes developed by New Zealand companies are being successfully implemented. Pilots and air traffic controllers trained by New Zealand companies work for some of the big names in global aviation. India’s Smart Cities initiative to integrate information and communication technology into a city’s infrastructure is another project that should lead to exciting opportunities for New Zealand’s technology and services companies. We believe India and New Zealand’s long lasting partnership will continue to bring success to both nations.
