About INZBC The India New Zealand Business Council [INZBC] is the premier trade organisation in New Zealand, which has been working for over 25 years to build trade relations between India & New Zealand. Since 1989, the India New Zealand Business Council (INZBC) has promoted and encouraged trade in goods and services, investment, scientific, technical and economic cooperation between India and New Zealand. INZBC is a member-based independent organisation, not-for-profit incorporated society, which exists for three purposes: • To lobby and inform government on trade-related matters • To disseminate information and know-how on doing business between the two countries • To facilitate business development on behalf of members through leveraging networks INZBC is run by industry leaders of New Zealand, who have years of experience in this sphere, thereby becoming the key stake-holders for International Trade Development of India & NZ. INZBC has been recognised as the main industry body by both the governments of India & NZ. Almost all of the visiting delegations of Govt. of India have been hosted by INZBC, and we have organised networking events for them. With over 160 members spanning across various industries, like agriculture, horticulture, dairy, infrastructure, finance, education, tax planning, etc.; the members form the main-stay of corporate leaders of New Zealand. INZBC holds regular industry events, calling upon specialists and ministers, representatives of NZTE, MFAT,etc. for meaningful dialogues within the business community. Prime Minister’s visit to India 2016 October 2016

INZBC enhances the bilateral trade and business relationship with India during the Prime Minister’s visit to New Delhi. The India New Zealand Business Council has taken big leaps in creating closer ties with business organisations in India, like FICCI and ASSOCHAM. This time around, INZBC was represented by Head of Govt. Relations, Mr. Wenceslaus Anthony along with two other Executive Board members, Mr. Bhav Dhillon and Mr. Jacob Mannothra. There were many other members of INZBC, as part of the business delegation of the Prime Minister, John Key, to India. Announcement of Education Summit 2017 One of the major developments was the singing of an MOU between INZBC and The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). This MOU has been signed towards the collaboration for organizing an Education Summit in Auckland in 2017, “Edutech 2017- Knowledge, Skill, Technology”.

Honourable President of India, visited New Zealand in May 2016. INZBC organised the Business Leaders Meet held on 1 May in central Auckland. Business leaders across New Zealand were invited to meet the Hon. President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The Business Leaders meet was hosted by Indian High Commission, Wellington along with India New Zealand Business Council.

Meet with Joanna Kempkers Dec 2016

NZBC commits it’s support to the new Prime Minister, Bill English and the NZ High Commissioner designate to India, Joanna Kempkers. INZBC held a welcome meeting to felicitate the new High Commissioner Designate of New Zealand to India, Ms. Joanna Kempkers. Joana spoke to the INZBC members and other members of the industry, at a meeting at the Delloite center, on Tuesday, 13th December. Joanna said, “I am looking forward to working with the business community and the society at large from both countries, to build stranger ties between India & New Zealand. A lot of good work has been done on the ground and we shall endeavor to improve upon that.”

Indian Oil Corporation visit to New Zealand Nov 2016

Indian Oil Corporation senior executives explore collaborations in the Energy Sector in New Zealand. The India New Zealand Business Council [INZBC] again has taken lead in organizing a study tour for senior ranking delegates from India’s Largest Oil & Gas company, the Indian Oil Corporation. Senior executives were on a study tour to New Zealand (on 25-26 October 2016), as part of their corporate leadership programme, conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC). The participants are senior managers at Dy. General Manager/ Chief Manager level with around 20 years of work experience and came from different functional areas such as R&D, Marketing, Refinery Operations, HR, Finance. INZBC organized a number of talks with industry leaders and some great Kiwi companies like, EY, Callaghan Innovation, Integration Technologies and Gallagher Fuel systems. Tax Executive Directors Sanjay Kumar and Raymond Yee provided the delegates with an overview of the New Zealand tax system, the New Zealand oil and gas tax regime and discussed upcoming international tax developments. EY Corporate and Commercial Law Leader, Sinead Hart provided the delegates with insights on investing into New Zealand, structuring operations and the regulatory regime for oil, gas and mineral exploration. The delegates showed a great interest and contributed to an engaging discussion about the New Zealand tax system and economy.

Education NZ to focus on ‘high-quality’ students, to maintain high standards across New Zealand’s international education industry: Charles Finny “All of us have a collective responsibility to ensure the experience of our international students is a positive one and results in positive outcomes for them and ultimately for our businesses and New Zealand society and economy. We welcome international students who come here with genuine intent and means. But New Zealand, like any sovereign country, will take steps to protect our borders and deal decisively with fraudulent or unlawful behaviour when we see it.” This was one of the main sentiments arising out of the address of Education NZ Chair, Charles Finny, when he addressed the members of the India New Zealand Business Council on Wednesday 5 October. The event was hosted by Auckland Institute of Studies.

INZBC hosts FICCI FLO delegation Sep 2016

INZBC supports great gender parity in boardrooms, with hosting FLO ladies delegation from India India’s corporate world is today enriched with presence of women in the board rooms, but more initiatives would be welcome. This was one of the notions coming from a meeting of a women-in-business delegation that came from India. INZBC recently hosted an inward delegation of women business leaders from India from FICCI – FLO. FLO is the women wing of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry. An all India forum for women, FLO has headquarters in New Delhi and 13 chapters set-up across India representing women entrepreneurs and professionals. Vinita Bimbhet, President FLO, commented, “India and New Zealand share a common historical connection and have been fellow travelers in their commitment to disarmament, global peace, ecological preservation.”

Meet with Arvind Mehta June 2016

India’s Lead Negotiator of FTA addressing and talking with Business Leaders at an event hosted by INZBC. India’s lead Negotiator of FTA, listens to industry views at INZBC meet. While on his whirlwind trip to New Zealand, Arvind Mehta, India’s lead negotiator of the FTA addresses a gathering of Industry leaders, organised by INZBC on 15 th June 2016 at EY, Auckland. The gathering saw presentations from 5 companies, representing different sectors. It was a snapshot of what the companies in those sectors expect out of an FTA with India. At the meet, Mr. Mehta said, “There is a unique combination between India’s scale and New Zealand’s experimentation which brings its own set of best practices into intermingling of two wonderful cultures to then create so much more that can be done of the opportunities that India presents in any sector be it dairy, agriculture, horticulture, and many more. There are limitless potentialities of collaboration possible through the vibrant relationship between two countries.”

Public lectures focussing on TPP April 2016

INZBC and NZIRI co-hosts public lectures focussing on TPP India New Zealand Business Council and The New Zealand India Research Institute co-hosted India Unplugged sessions at Victoria University of Wellington on 21st April, 2016. Two public lectures focused on Trans-Pacific Partnership and its impacts for both New Zealand and India. The first of these lectures was given by Dr Amitendu Palit from the National University of Singapore. The topic was ‘India, APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership): Navigating a Complex Landscape’.

INZBC launches India Unplugged series April 2016

INZBC’s India Unplugged, dispels some myths around trading with India The first session of India Unplugged series focussed on debunking some myths about trading in India, the major one being Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and copyrights. INZBC launched its rolling speaker series, ‘India Unplugged’ in another flagship event held in Auckland on 30th March 2016. The series - India Unplugged is specifically designed to equip kiwi businesses with knowledge to work better with Indian market. First session of the series witnessed industry experts from AJ Park, Mark Hargreaves (Partner, Commercial Team) and Anton Blijlevens (Partner, Patents Team); they took the participants through their detailed presentation on the key issues relating to IP laws and protection of copyrights in India. The series was inaugurated by the Indian High Commissioner of India, Mr. Sanjiv Kohli and a visiting dignitary from India, Mrs. Preneet Kaur, Former Federal Minister of State for External Affairs.

Wellington Chapter Relaunch March 2016

INZBC focuses on national presence with relaunch of Wellington Chapter. Cementing its place as the leading national organization in India NZ Trade, INZBC launched its Wellington Chapter, on 16th March, in the presence of some key stake holders. Her Worship Celia Wade-Brown, Mayor of Wellington, congratulated INZBC for the relaunch of the chapter and has extended all support to the organisation for further enhancing the relationship with India. She was very appreciative of the Indian businesses in Wellington and also the organisations that are doing business with India. She was pleased to welcome the new Indian High Commissioner designate and pleased to know the presence of MFAT, NZTE, Members of Parliament including Dr. Parmjeet Parmar and other government organisations, attending the event.

‘Make in India’ promotion by INZBC Feb 2016

Kiwi companies encouraged to take advantage of the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Reiterating its commitment to provide a greater momentum to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, India New Zealand Business Council (INZBC) and The Indian High Commission, Wellington co-hosted a pre-cursor event in Auckland on 11th February. The event was well attended by dignitaries from Indian High Commission, noted kiwi businessmen, New Zealand government representatives along with many others. The seminar emphasised the potential for better Indo-Kiwi trade and business ties. Noted speakers gave an overview of the ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ initiative launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with several other initiatives taken by the new government of India to create business friendly environment.

NZTE F&B research presentation Dec 2015

NZTE’s research educates the Kiwi Market on targeting top-end consumers in India. In a recent event organised by INZBC [India New Zealand Business Council], NZTE [New Zealand Trade & Enterprise] presented the findings of a research done in the Indian market that sheds some very valuable insights into tapping the topend market. NZTE’s Trade Commissioner Mumbai, Kevin McKenna gave the presentation with Daljit Kohli Singh - Business Development Manager, NZTE Mumbai. They presented some very revealing facts about the industry. The research gave new insights like, only two percent of weekly food shopping in India is done in a supermarket or that consumers in India love smaller test packs for new products, and that F&B products tailored for special events and holidays are always big sellers.
