INZBC Summit 2018 Message from the Mayor Since 1988, the India-New Zealand Business Council has played an important role in developing the relationship between our two countries. As New Zealand’s largest and only international city, that relationship is important for Auckland. Kiwis of Indian heritage are a large and visible part of our community and make a strong contribution to Auckland’s culture and economy. Every year, thousands of Aucklanders from all backgrounds celebrate Indian culture and heritage at events like Diwali, Holi Festival and the Indian Kite Festival. We are lucky as Aucklanders to live in a city that is vibrant and diverse, and where all our people, regardless of creed, faith or colour can live side by side in a peaceful community. Enjoy the summit and enjoy Auckland. Kind regards, Phil Goff Mayor of Auckland

6 September 2018
INZBC Summit 2018 A message of support from Chris Gosling, Chief Executive, WelTec & Whitireia Dear friends namaste, As leading providers of technical and vocational education, we’re excited to be associated for our 2nd year as the strategic education partner for both INZBC and their Summit 2018. WelTec and Whitireia has a very strong Indian student cohort, with just under 1,000 Indian students studying at our campuses in Wellington and Auckland. Through our partnerships with both INZBC and FICCI, we are continuing to build and expand our partnerships across India. Over the past decade hundreds of Indian students have graduated and gone on to use their qualifications to make significant economic and cultural contributions to New Zealand, with many others returning to India with new skills and international experience whilst studying in Aotearoa. In the past year we’ve opened a new creative industries campus in Wellington. Te Auaha is a state of the art centre of learning right in the heart of New Zealand’s creative capital, and we’ve recently partnered with Innovative Film Academy (IFA) in Bangalore to explore future exchange opportunities for staff and students around our new Bachelor of Creativity degree programme. Recently, we also launched a new Bachelor of Business and Management degree programme, which will feature specialist areas of study include accounting, analytics and knowledge, event management, hospitality management, innovation and entrepreneurship, supply chain and logistics management and tourism management. This presents us with further opportunities to grow new Indian partnerships with both the Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR) in Mumbai and the Jaipuria Institute of Management in Delhi. We were thrilled to host a pre-Summit event at our Hospitality School in Wellington last month, and I’m delighted that a member of our academic team, Tourism Lecturer & Researcher, Jamie Smiler, will also be presenting at this year’s Summit. The W&W team is very much looking forward to meeting old friends and making more new ones through engaging conversations at this year’s Summit. These connections, facilitated by both INZBC and FICCI, help to create a diverse range of mutually beneficial opportunities by identifying potential areas of future skills exchange and developing new business partnerships. I’d like to wish you all a fantastic Summit 2018.
Chris Gosling, Chief Executive
