WHAT WE DO

The India New Zealand Business Council [INZBC] is the premier trade organisation in New Zealand,which has been working since 1988 to build trade relations between India & New Zealand.

INZBC gives members a host of benefits, from more information to networking opportunities, more business ties , to getting a say with the policy makers.

INZBC is run by industry leaders of New Zealand, who have years of experience in this sphere, thereby becoming the key stakeholders for International Trade Development of India & NZ. INZBC has been recognised as the main industry body by both the governments of India & NZ. Almost all of the visiting delegations of Govt. of India have been hosted by INZBC, and we have organised networking events for them. With members spanning across various industries, like agriculture, horticulture, dairy, infrastructure, finance, education, tax planning, etc.; the members form the mainstay of corporate leaders of New Zealand. INZBC strives to help the industry to engage, interact and grow together.

All this and more benefits keep adding to the INZBC members. The INZBC activities are targeted at achieving our key objectives:

KEY INSIGHTS:

India has been the world’s fastest growing major economy in recent years and by 2020 is expected to be the fifth largest economy in the world. New Zealand and India enjoy a growing trade relationship and New Zealand is negotiating toward a free trade agreement with India, both bilaterally and through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

» Total trade in goods with India, was $1.2

India is all about ‘big’ – democracy, population, workforce, industries and opportunities. This developing country can be a challenging place to do business, particularly with its strong regional differences, however, it’s a diverse exciting market with plenty of prospects across a wide range of industries. Relationships, shared business interests and a comprehensive market understanding are important to maximise these openings. India was NZ’s 9th largest export market till 2016.

» Services trade has more than doubled, to $1.36 billion, and this has helped take total trade (goods and services) to around $2.6 billion.

» Tourism has likewise more than doubled

» India is New Zealand’s second largest

source of international students, with over 29,000 Indian students studying in New Zealand in 2016.

» There are also opportunities to grow

exports in areas such as professional services, in-country provision of education, healthcare, and aviation.

FLYING HIGH INZBC SUMMIT 2018 INDIA TOURISM MARKET OVERVIEW: India is New Zealand’s 11th largest international tourism market. The Indian market’s preference to travel in New Zealand's autumn and spring shoulder seasons makes it an important market to help spread tourist visitation across the year. The incentive market in India, in particular, promises potential for travel to New Zealand. India holds much promise as an emerging market for New Zealand in the future. The size of the market is huge, with India’s current population at 1.3 billion and is set to overtake China as the most populous country in 2022 (as forecast by the United Nations). Incomes are also growing. The cohort of middle class is growing, and these are the people most likely to travel. Latest forecasts for the 2017 - 2023 period, are very positive for this region. Visitor arrivals to New Zealand are expected to grow 4.8 per cent a year, reaching 4.9 million visitors in 2023 from 3.5 million in 2016. Total international spend is expected to reach $15 billion in 2023, up 52 per cent from 2016.

Most of this forecasted growth is expected to come from holiday makers and those visiting friends and relatives.

KEY FACTS:

New Zealand has an established aviation industry. It is worth around $17b per annum and contributes approximately $5b p/a in export earnings.

» Boeing predicts, in the next 20 years,

New Zealand is geographically close to the major aviation growth markets in the Asia Pacific (including India). The industry is spread throughout the country and plays an important role in tourism, agriculture, regional connectivity, economic development, search and rescue and disaster recovery - supporting social cohesion around the country. There has been a surge of students coming to New Zealand for pilot training in the last year, given the strong aviation growth in India. Today, New Zealand with one aircraft per 1000 inhabitants, has one of the highest rates of aircraft ownership in the World. More than 500 different models, including a high number of helicopters, fly New Zealand skies. Internationally capable General Aviation, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, Aircraft parts, Aviation Interiors, Training, Services, Helicopters, and Airport Infrastructure companies make up the aviation industry in New Zealand.
