THE STOCKBRIDGE RESTAURANT
Amy Falconer puts the new lunch menu to the test
hen I heard The Stockbridge Restaurant was open for a weekend
Wlunch service, I couldn’t wait to check it out. Offering classics from its evening a la carte menu – think duck confit with cassoulet bean stew, and Seared Shetland salmon – brunch favourites and new tapas sized portions, in a more relaxed, bistro setting, it seemed like the perfect way to spend a Saturday.
We order an array of dishes to start – crudités and hummus, £3, crispy squid rings with alioli, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on brioche, garlic field mushrooms on toasted brioche and chorizo risotto in tapas size, £3.50 each. The standout dish for me being the smoky, chorizo risotto and my friend’s was the smoked salmon and scrambled egg. For mains, my dining partner orders a Smashin’ eggs omlette with wild mushrooms and chorizo, £7, while I opt for
the duck confit with cassoulet bean stew, £9. While his isn’t anything special in the looks department I’m assured the delicate flavours are bang on the money. My duck was melt in the mouth. The bed of beans with the rich, deep gravy is knock out and utterly heavenly served with the buttery mash. We finish off the meal with sticky toffee pudding in butterscotch sauce, £9, and the cake of the day, lemon drizzle, £4.50. All of that along with their delicious sensational Bloody Marys and The Stockbridge Restaurant is firmly on our weekend brunch list.
