The Strategic Plan has been drawn up and approved in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes of IPBeja, as approved by Normative Act No. 47/2008, which was published in DiĂĄrio da RepĂşblica (Portuguese Official Gazette), Series II, no. 169, of 2nd September. Under the terms of article 26(2)(a) of the aforementioned Statutes, it is incumbent upon the General Board "to approve the medium-term strategic plans and the action plan for the four-year term of the President", as per a proposal made by the President of the Institute. This 2018-2021 Strategic Plan was approved by the General Board in a plenary session held on the 4th November 2019.

IPBeja has taken on the role of a higher education institution serving society, aiming to produce and share knowledge, create, transmit and share culture and knowledge of a professional nature, geared towards research and experimental development concentrated especially on vocational and advanced technical training geared towards professional life and encouraging lifelong learning.

To cement IPBeja’s position over the next four years as an institution that is unquestionably recognised within Portuguese academic circles and society, and that is gaining steadily more international attention, thanks to the quality and unique nature of the courses provided, the fundamental applied research carried out at the institution, the way in which the knowledge gained is passed on to companies, the performance of its graduates, its contribution to increasing the sustainability of the development of the city of Beja, the region and country, as well as the proactive way in which it has committed to promoting citizenship and culture.
