This comes straight from the Fashion Designer, with thoughts for the future and what we may step out in very soon.

The ‘Nothing Mirrors’, a delicate rust, cream and black dress could be coupled with a fencing mask styled helmet, a netting face covering with a stiff shard of tulle. An image that would support the sustainability makes a remarkable silhouette.

Designers have images in their heads, Marie Sansome is no exception. She would choose a large, wide, stiff brimmed gangster hat as an accessory to her stunning ‘Wounded’ creation or as I see it, that ‘little black dress’. The gangster hat would be black with a cream hat band and textured detail.

An interest in fashion design began as a child for Marie Sansome. Combinations and coordinated outfits were a fascination in all shapes and sizes. Her toys and games revolved around images and textures. All this creative energy channelled her into a ‘Fabric and Garment Design’ course at university. She was able to follow her dream towards making clothesthat provoked statements.

Marie’s latest collection; ’A Circus of Thoughts’ is eclectic. Colours are varied. Textures worked and reworked in new ways. The influences include climate change with a look at the elements causing environmental pollution and human destruction. These all played their part in this collection. The construction of fabrics, with repurposed samples added new layers to her creative process.

Garments formed in new ways. Unexpected finishes, with each garment constructed with drama to reflect and expand the narrative in our global world annihilation.

HER PASSION IS TO PUSH THE ENVELOPE WITH HER CREATIONS.

A piece from this collection called ‘Nothing Mirrors’ impacted on the catwalk in flamboyant rust chiffon with cream silk and folds of black tulle. A dress with a difference, showing deconstruction disconnects. The expectations were stretched, while the boundaries were pushed. The overskirt and underskirt were rearranging. Part of the construction was a variation from expectations. An underskirt section over the overskirt, with a section of pleated overskirt forming part of the sleeve was constructed.Ruffles bubbled aroundthe shoulders and linkeda half moon of the skirthem. This is a wild andextraordinary dress.Rather like Pablo Picasso’s work, reality with an unexpected adjustment really lands with Marie’s work. She makes garments that follow convention for customers and takes them to new levels when the design brief offers more scope. Her passion is to push the envelope with her creations. She likes to challenge herself by putting passionate emotion into her work. Her stunning ‘Wounded’ black crushed taffeta and tulle dress is a good example of the emotional narrative in her work. With creative spirit, her design flew up the intensity scale with each element adding to her story.

She believes in sustainability and promotes reworking fabrics, the use of repurposing clothes and plans off cuts to lessen her environmental impactin fashion design. Mariesaid, “It is amazing whatyou can create with just alittle imagination.” Oldpieces of clothing can berevived and rejuvenatedinto an outfit in an imaginative creative way.

IT IS AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN CREATE WITH JUST A LITTLE IMAGINATION.
